11 Ways to Forget Your Ex-Boyfriend

Chapter 7

As expected, Trey agreed to join me shopping though it’s not his thing, obviously. He is a guy after all.

“Is it pretty?” I think this my seventy whatever I ask him this kind of question. We had been in and out in the different shops asking me if I’m pretty in the dress and if it suit me. I think he is already tired of me asking questions.

“You’re beautiful.” That’s his only answer, I just sigh.

“Alright, enough with the dresses. Join me in the salon.”

“Eh?” Trey.

“I would like a haircut.”

“Is that so? Okay, I’ll go with you.” Trey.

“What?”

“I also want to cut my hair since it’s already long,” he touch the ends of his hair to check it, “I plan to cut it on Sat.u.r.day but since we are here why not cut it now? It does not make a difference. Where did you usually go to cut your hair?”

“I prefer Ricky Reyes.”

“All right, let’s go.” He pulled my hand. I actually feel awkward whenever he holds my hands when we walk. A part of me wants to take it away and another part of me wants to let it be like that, I just don’t understand myself right now.

“”Hi ma’am, hi sir!” a gay greeted us when we entered the salon, “Haircut?”

“Yes, the two of us.” Trey says still holding my hand.

“Please come here.” the gay lead us to the adjacent vacant seat. I remove my hand from his grasp since we need to seat in the adjacent vacant seat. Just a minute later, two hair stylist came to cut our hair. They are both women, the gay who greeted us went back to the entrance and read magazines.

“What hairstyle do you want dear?” the hair stylist ask me, I also heard the other hair stylist ask Trey.

He suddenly called me, “Sena.”

“Oh?” I look at him.

“Don’t cut too much of your hair, just right here,” he pointed his shoulder, “Then you should have bangs,” he put his hands on my forehead like a bangs sign, “It suits you.”

“You need to shave your head, okay? It suits you.” I sarcastically said.

He laughed when I said it and arrange his sitting, “Just do it? Don’t shorten your hair too much and have a bangs.”

After that, he spoke to his hair stylist and he read a magazine. And me, I don’t understand why I followed what he said. I just let them cut one and a half inches  and have a bangs.

He finished before me since mine took longer to shampoo, dry and so much things to do in my hair. Because my hair is longer and that’s just what they do to women. As to him, it’s easy to shampoo and be done easily just a small cut here and there then its finished.

“It’s finish ma’am.” I look at my hair in the mirror in front of me, I touch my bangs. I feel strange.

“Just what I said, it suits you.” Trey.

“Your right.” I was going to stand when he stopped me.

“Wait, we are not done yet.” Trey.

“Ha?” I saw him sit back, beside me.

“Let’s color our hair!” he wink at me.

“What? Are you crazy? I don’t want to, besides I don’t have any money to pay for it!”

“Don’t be a KJ (killjoy). Just a light brown, it’s not really obvious and its my treat. All right?!”

I refuse and refuse, in end I can’t do anything. He is very persuasive.

He is talkative while we are sitting there, he talks a lot of story. What happened to his school, his home, with the neighbors, with his friends, the people in their street, his dog and also even the house lizard in their ceiling. I don’t know why he don’t run out of stories. Even though I’m slightly annoyed by his talkativeness and his playful att.i.tude, the truth is I’m glad to him right now, I feel better. It helps me forget the pain I feel earlier, I don’t think about that person. Trey’s presence helps me. I enjoy his company.

After they dyed our hair, we paid at the counter and of course he paid for it. His the one who insistently convince me.

“Wow, you have the same hair color. Do you know that you look good together?” the gay said in the counter exhilarated while we are paying.

Trey put his arm around me and said, “We look good together right?”

“Yes sir, super!” the gay said.

I remove his hand from me, “We are not an object, we are human.”

[Bagay – in Filipino means look good together/ suit each other or thing/object.]

“Ay, why is your girlfriend ill-tempered sir?”

“She has the ‘time of the month’.” Trey whispered while covering my mouth with his hand, he whispered but intends to let me hear it.

After that, we continue to shop in the clothing store, shoes and bags. I quiet purchase a lot, and he carried all of it. I did not force him to do it, he volunteer.

When we are at one of the stores, he showed a shirt, “Let’s buy this!”

When I look at it, I saw that it was a couple shirt. In the guy shirt there is a big heart design and an arrow pointing in the left, while the girl shirt there is also a big heart design with and arrow but pointing in the right.

“I don’t want to.” I said.

“Pleeaase? I’ll pay. This only a t-shirt right? Please.”

“Don’t want to.”

“Please? We are going to only wear it now. Let just say, this your pay to me.”

“Huh? Pay? When did I owed you?”

“Not really a debt,” he scratches his head, “That I accompany you now, atleast for an exchange, allow me to but this and put this on now?”

“No.” I plainly said.

“Please?” he beg and beg but I insisted and say no to him. I turned to look at the other clothes.

But when I peek at him, I saw how he sadly return the shirts where he took it. He is really sad. I felt bad, I mean he made my day fun right? Earlier I feel so depress and if he didn’t came I may have a total breakdown. He accompany me and help me to enjoy the day. Look what I’m doing, I seem to ruin his day because he is sad. He was just asking for a little favor but I declined. I really feel bad about it.

“Okay, let’s but it,” in the end I can’t endure and approach him. I took the shirt where it hanged and took it to the counter, “You pay, I don’t have money.”

He just look and stare at me, “Oh? Are you buying or not? If not I’ll return this.” I acted to return it, but he stop me and smile, “A-ah! No! I’ll pay for it!”he said.
