Chapter 1144 – You Went Yourself
“An Bro, how is it over there?” Taizao had been searching around but didn’t find anything. He even scratched his feet after stepping on something!
“All conches and clams, nothing else!” Jianwen said with a bitter face.
“This should be about enough, right? I don’t think we can find anything else now!” Taizao was already feeling cold. This wasn’t peak summer, and the sunlight wasn’t that strong. The seas at night would be a lot colder as a result, especially since it didn’t absorb enough heat. Taizao was already freezing and would’ve jumped out if it weren’t for Jianwen.
“Alright, we’ll just use these first. This should be enough for two, and we’ll let that troublemaker girl and Yao Yao eat first, whatever!” Jainwen was a human as well–he was already freezing.
Jainwen and Taizao got on sh.o.r.e and realized that their haul wasn’t bad at all. It was a full basket of things they had, and they could even cook a seafood soup. Jianwen went to Mengyao with that basket happily.
“Yao Yao, I got some seafood, they’re all fresh from the sea!” Jainwen said as he presented his haul.
But Yushu spoke up before Mengyao cou.ld. “What sort of seafood is this? They’re all a bunch of small clams and conches, how are we supposed to eat something this small?”
“This… This is all there was, back in the sea…” Jainwen said bitterly. Just these small things took him a lot of energy and effort to get, and it was great for their situation already!
“Oh, you guys eat it then. We’ve got big seafood here, and we don’t need yours!” Yushu said as she took out a crate from behind the car- there was a bunch of seafood in there, a great variety!
“Wha?!” Jainwen’s eyes went wide.
“Who said I was going to go fis.h.i.+ng for seafood? You’re the one who jumped in yourself, and I didn’t tell you to!” Yushu rolled her eyes in disdain.
“I… I…” Jianwen wanted to scream- he fell for it again! But there was nothing he could do, and it was his fault for misunderstanding… This wasn’t Yushu’s fault at all. She didn’t tell him to do anything, after all!
“s.h.i.+eld Bro, let’s barbeque some seafood”! Yushu didn’t want to waste time on Jianwen anymore as she brought the box of seafood to Lin Yi’s fire. He had already prepared everything.
Jianwen stomped his feet in frustration as he brought back the seafood.
“An Bro, why are you back? What did Chu Mengyao think? Was she touched that we went fis.h.i.+ng for seafood in the middle of the night?” Taizao didn’t hear the conversation from before.
“Touched my a.s.s!” Jianwen was already calmed down, but Taizao’s words made him p.i.s.sed off again. “They had seafood. They had a whole box they bought from the market- we were idiots for jumping down to fis.h.!.+”
“Ah? Why didn’t they say so then?” Taizao blinked, regretting that he’d gone down the sea for nothing.
“It’s my fault for not asking!” Jianwen thought that Yushu intentionally hid it from him, but it was also his fault for not asking properly- it was now two times he messed up! If he had asked properly what Mengyao wanted back when he was at her house, he’d go and buy all the stuff she wanted! If she had asked properly if they had seafood, they didn’t have to go down the sea!
“Then… What do we do? An Bro?” Taizao asked.
“We’ll eat it ourselves!” Jianwen said, troubled. “Otherwise, our efforts would’ve been wasted!”
Lin y was starting the barbeque on top of the fire, and the pleasant smells came drifting to Jianwen’s side- the two started drooling in envy!
“We’ll start too!” Jainwen gritted his teeth. “We even have lamb skewers and chicken wings, yeah? We’re not worse off than them!”
“You’re right. I’ll go prepare!” Taizao went and got ready, but only did he finish preparing everything did he realize that the car’s battery was out of electricity! He spent too much of it when they were fis.h.i.+ng for seafood earlier!
“An Bro, this is bad! The car’s out of electricity!” Taizao said after messing around with the car, his face bitter.
“What? No electricity? How’d you mess that up? Can you stop causing trouble?!” Jainwen said, even more frustrated.
“We forgot to turn the engine off…” Taizao said carefully.
“You… Whatever~!” Jianwen wanted to scold him, but he had no energy. He was starving already! “Isn’t there a manual way we could use our hands to power it? Go power it manually!”
“Ah? Me?”: Taizao looked at the equipment- he could power it with his hands while continuing to rotate the lever, but wouldn’t he be completely exhausted by the time all the food was heated?
“Of course, it can’t be me!” Jianwen glared. “Hurry up, stop wasting time! It’s just the lever, right? Just think of it as jacking off!”
“…” Taizao had no choice- he went over and started using his hands to move the lever quickly, and the equipment started generating heat along with a rainbow-colored light. “What idiot designed this? Working so hard to generate that bit of electricity. All the energy I’m putting out is getting used for that stupid light!”
“Hurry and work on the lever!” Jianwen said as he started flipping the skewers.
Lin Yi’s side, however, was already enjoying their delicious seafood!
“So romantic… I didn’t think that I, Feng Xiaoxiao, would be able to experience this one day…” Xiaoxaio said as she looked at the variety of seafood emanating with an amazing smell. She thought that she wouldn’t know what friends.h.i.+p and love were like in her life before she died, but now she had everything all of a sudden.
The friends she used to have were all those superficial friends that raced with her- they weren’t true friends, and she wouldn’t go and have a camping trip with them in the first place. Who knew if they were people she was safe to be around with?
“The clams are ready!” Lin Yi said as he brought down a couple of clams from the rack, putting them into a plate for the eager Yushu. “You guys eat first!”
“Yeah, the food’s here!” Yushu said excitedly as she pa.s.sed the plate to Mengyao, Xiaoxiao, and Tang Yun, putting it on the sand. “I’ll get some drinks.”
“You guys eat first, I’ll open one for Lin Yi.” Tang Yin picked one clam up and pulled out the meat, giving it to Lin Yi.
