Bringing the Supermarket to the Apocalypse

Chapter 42: Renting a house

Chapter 42: Renting a house

The group of them walked into the fairly small rental shop. The room was also a few several square meters, and there were only two cabinets and a table.  The table and cabinets were filled with various types of materials. Behind the table was an old man that seemed over 60 years old.

He wore black-framed spectacles and was looking at something.

“Welcome, are you here to look for a house?”

Seeing the group of them walk in, the old man joyfully stood up and walked in front of Lin Feng’s group as he said this.

Nanshan base supplied most of the houses and as such this shop did not have business for a few days. Seeing that some customers had arrived, the old man was elated.

Lin Feng immediately told the old man his idea.

At present Lin Feng’s group had five people, as such an ordinary house with two or three bedrooms were insufficient for them.  Furthermore, Lin Feng had plans of his own.  As such Lin Feng wanted the old man to find him a good place, one that was big and had two stories.

No wonder it was the house referral center, in just a moment the old man found a place that suited Lin Feng requirements in the stack of materials.

This was a house in the center of the base. The entrance way was the main area of traffic in Nanshan base, and many cultivators and high ranking officials stayed there.  The building had three floors, the bas.e.m.e.nt and the first and second floors.  The area totaled up to 500 square meters. Each floor had more than 100 square meters and was extremely s.p.a.cious.

More importantly, the entrance was very big, being more than 10 meters wide. It also was light and bright.

Lin Feng looked at the house and got the old man to bring everyone to see it.  The pickup truck couldn’t fit too many people, as such Shao Wenjun took the initiative and got on the back of the truck.

Nanshan base was also worthy of being the biggest base in Tianqi city. They saw a never-ending amount of pedestrians on the road. Furthermore, they put on an expression that seemed much better than those in Zhan Lang base.  This could be mainly credited to the cultivation of crops around the base. Only when they can eat to their fullest, will people have a good mental state.

Along the way Lin Feng and the old man chatted, and he could grasp the status in Nanshan base.

In total Nanshan base had a population of 300,000 people. At the beginning of the apocalypse, it was attacked by a large zombie horde, however, it has been maintained very well.  The important facilities such as the grain storage had not been destroyed. As such Nanshan base had the biggest amount of grain stored in the entirety of Tianqi city.  In the entire of china, it was the most famous base for food.

China had a total of fifty provinces. Each province had ten cities, totaling in 500 cities.  Ever since the start of the apocalypse, large and small bases have been gradually established, but the ownership of the bases belonged to each city.  However there was no unity, and everyone did their own thing.

However it’s not like the bases did not consider unification, there were just reasons.

One issue was distance. In the apocalypse there was a certain distance between all the large and small bases. The least distance was around 20 kilometers and the most were several hundreds of kilometers.  The open country was also filled with countless zombies, some being high cla.s.sed zombies.  If two bases merged, then the distance between them would be settled.

It was just a road, however, there was still a region between the bases.  As a result of all sorts of issues such as population and resources, a merger between bases was not a very realistic thing.

The second issue was the will of the people. Before and even after the apocalypse, selfishness still existed in humans.

A leader is tasked with the management of tens of thousands or even several hundred thousand people. If there was a big merge, there would the problem of the delegation of leadership. As the saying goes, it would be preferred to be a big fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big pond. In their own base, no matter what they did no one had the no right to say anything. If bases were to merge, there was also the problem of the control of rights.

As the matter stands, Tianqi city had no direct leadership over any of the bases.

The place Lin Feng chose had many characteristics. The first floor was a giant hall. It was very broad, being over 100 square meters.

The second floor was divided into six bedrooms. Each room was very s.p.a.cious and had been furnished, making it very suitable for living.

The bas.e.m.e.nt could be used as a warehouse, putting aside some of the unimportant supplies.  Although there were 10 square meters in the apocalypse watch storage s.p.a.ce, it was still limited.

Furthermore, since this house was by Nanshan base’s liveliest street, the rent was very expensive, unexpectedly being 100 white crystals a month.  Let alone an ordinary person, even those so-called “white-collars” would not be able to afford it.

The house was rented on a monthly basis. This was based on the how unpredictable the apocalypse could be. No one knew when they would die, be it in the hands of the zombies or humans themselves. As such, rent was charged on a monthly basis.

After Lin Feng completed the mission of killing the cla.s.s four zombies, and adding the amount he had before, altogether he had more than 21,000 white crystals.  100 white crystals to Lin Feng was a small number, as such he immediately took out the amount for the agreement.

There were 6 rooms, however, Lin Feng’s group only needed four. After arranging the sleeping s.p.a.ces, there were two vacant rooms.

Due to Dong Wu and Dou Yuxin being kidnapped, Lin Feng was in a hurry. As such, he didn’t bring any daily necessities with him. It’s not like he had anything to bring with him anyways. However, Shao Wenjun and his wife had already prepared. They took out items from their apocalypse watch and placed them in the house.

Coming to Dou Yuxin’s room, Lin Feng knocked her door and opened it, only to see that Dou Yuxin was still preparing her bed.  No one had lived in the house for a long time, as the things inside were covered in a layer of dust.

“Take it and see if there’s any effect. ”

Lin Feng took out the green pellet and said this to Dou Yuxin.

Previously due to the fight with Qin Kuai, Lin Feng had completely forgotten about this matter.

Now that they have settled down, Lin Feng thought of the green pellet again.

The green pellet was from a cla.s.s four zombie as such it was very precious. The importance of this could be seen from how the level 5 cultivator Qin Kuai acted.  In a normal battle, a level 7 cultivator would be unable to kill a cla.s.s four zombie. If not for that incident, Lin Feng estimated that he would have to reach level 8 before being able to get a green pellet.

However, not everyone awakens their soul crystal after taking the green pellet. As such Lin Feng could not determine whether or not Dou Yuxin could awaken her soul crystal. However, in Lin Feng’s group, Dou Yuxin was the only cultivator apart from him. The green pellet was already useless to him, as such, he wanted to see if it would awaken her soul crystal.

Dou Yuxin trusted Lin Feng very much. Without hesitation, she swallowed the green pellet. Just as she swallowed, Lin Feng felt an explosive fluctuation in Dou Yuxin’s energy levels.
