Devil's Rise

Chapter 140

I quickly left my shameless Castle Leader"s quarters to figure out my next plan of action.

I now finally understood why Kingdoms and Empires had similar sized territories in the Xertzul Abyss, even though Empires had higher standing. Emperor must be an immortal devilry realm! But since Xertzul Abyss is a mortal world, their leader"s strength is bound to Tier-9 while in the mortal world. So Empires can"t just overcast Kingdoms!

[Bark, master I"ve finished cleaning up the Codex for you. Do you want to check it out?]

Yeah, let me see it Dex.

[Codex of Souls]

Name: Soulless

Age: 33

Realm: Mortal 4

Talent: D-

Combat Proficiency: D-

Minor Daos: Electric, Curse

Major Daos: Devil, Soul, Fire

Professions: Alchemist, Blacksmith, Formation Master

[Codex Abilities]

Beast Storage, Plant Storage, Library, u0026 Soul Refining.

[—]

[Bark, The Codex will no longer be issuing quests, to improve the Codex you need to feed it, souls.]

What the f.u.c.k why am I D- in talent and D- in combat proficiency?

[Bark, I apologize master. My information is at the average standard of an Immortal World.]

Are you saying I"m really that pitiful?

[Levels are SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, E, F]

[E is the level of the average cultivator born in a Mortal World.]

[B is the level of the average cultivator born in an Immortal World.]

[The battle master t.i.tle in the mortal world is someone who exceeds the average cultivator.]

[Bark, sadly you are very pitiful compared to those born in an Immortal World master.]

[Bark, but fret not. As the owner of the Codex of Souls how could you stay average?]

And what"s with my realm being Mortal 4?

[Bark, in an Immortal World all the realms you know are considered one cultivation level, simply because they all pale in comparison to an Immortal.]

[Bark, the core ability of the Dao of Souls is to consume other Daos.]

[A master of the Dao of Souls doesn"t study other Daos, just refine someone who knows the Dao and you will learn it.]

What I can really do that?

[Bark, you can"t but the Codex can. If you send souls to be refined by the Codex you will be able to easily understand their Daos as well as increase your talent and combat proficiency.]

Try this soul, I said as I brought out s.h.i.+ Da"s pitiful soul that was within my u003cHollow Domainu003e.

The soul flew into the Codex.

[Scanning…]

[Mortal 3 Soul. Talent Level D+. Knowledge of Minor Sword Dao. Refinement time: 30 Minutes.]

[Absorbing this soul will upgrade the host"s talent to D and grant host knowledge of the Minor Sword Dao.]

How long will it take me to absorb this soul?

[Bark, a month or two. This soul is relatively weak, but you have to experience everything within the soul to refine it. You should wait until you return to the Xertzul Abyss to absorb this soul, everything here is under the purview of that Immortal.]

[Although he has been helpful by repairing the Codex, he probably has selfish intentions.]

Thank you Dex, you are the most useful Aspect I"ve ever met.

[Bark, I am the Guardian Aspect. My job is to protect and guide you. Currently, I am still too weak to leave the Codex to fight so the most I can do is guide you.]

I put up the Codex of Souls and immediately headed outside of Satyr Castle.

~~~
Back in Zat"s room.
"I should have never touched that d.a.m.ned thing! Why does a mortal have a f.u.c.king G.o.d Artifact? I know I detected something strange on him when we first met. My phallus is never wrong! That d.a.m.ned G.o.d Artifact lead me into a trap just to steal my resources and like a fool, I was suckered in. Unfortunately Soulless trusted me enough to hand it to me. That guardian that came out was definitely a G.o.d, even though it was injured, that was way beyond my paygrade."
"Good thing he had mercy on poor ol" me. The karma from besmirching the glory of a G.o.d can not be fathomed. If he didn"t handle the karmic backlash from doing such a foolish thing I wouldn"t have even know how I died!"
"That little devil is going to cause so much chaos. Satyr Castle can regain our standing in the Labyrinth Sect when he matures. That d.a.m.ned dog drained my pockets dry. I"m going to have to go do sect missions to regain a bit of my wealth."
Zat parted the void and disappeared from his room. But there was an identical Zat sitting in his place ready to meet members of Satyr Castle.
~~~

I came out of the very cavern I had entered to get to Satyr Castle. I knew to get back to Satyr Castle I could simply use my Aphalla. I soon found Ayla, the scorpion woman I had had relations with.

"Ayla, are you ready to leave this place?" I said.

"Yes," said Ayla as she jumped into my embrace.

I spent a nice evening enjoying her tender touch.

It was good being able to have some adult relations.

It really helped take the stress away from me. I pounded her all night as she begged for more.

When we were done I spread my wings and flew out of the cavern, carrying her in my arms.

I had gained better mastery over my Nephilim Form now, I could create parts of it at will. Allowing me access to my Nephilim Forms abilities without exhausting myself. I could fly with my wings for hours.

When I got to Garden Isle everything was clear. No pirates had chosen to stake a new claim to this island in my absence. Jax was nowhere to be found, unfortunately. I could feel the teether to his soul from his ball u0026 chains. The connection was very weak, Jax had either gotten stronger while I was away or the chains were damaged.

I flew off in the direction of Jax. If my ghost had gotten stronger it was good news, I would happily teach him why I was his master now that I was a Viscount. And if someone had dared to harm my servant they would only be seeking death.

I spent about an hour flying over the waters of the Cove of Death before I neared Jax"s location. Down below was a large pirate s.h.i.+p.

~~~
"Look in the sky!" said one pirate on the s.h.i.+p.
"What"s that?" said another.
"It"s a bird?"
"It"s a plane?"
"IT"S THAT DEVIL! MAN THE SAILS," said Captain Jax as he came out of his cabin.
