Devil's Rise

Chapter 123

During our heated exchange, the red raptor kicked me square in the chest with his ma.s.sive claws while the other distracted me. Luckily, I jumped back, avoiding his claw successfully piercing through my chest.

I had to end this battle quickly to heal before I pa.s.sed out from blood loss. This was the direst situation this young lord had ever been in. But somehow I felt alive for the first time. Bloodl.u.s.t clouded my mind.

"Ahhh," I screamed as I dived back towards the raptors!

I hacked and slashed in a whirlwind at the two raptors. They would die at my hands before they could take out this young devil lord. I had exhausted most of my essence after swiftly executing the leader, so battling the other two raptors was becoming more and more difficult as time went on.

The wound on my chest was bleeding profusely. After another heated exchange with the two raptors, I backed off. I had successfully lopped off the leg of the red-feathered raptor; he was now yelping on the ground unable to get back up. I would slaughter that d.a.m.nable raptor as soon as I finished off his buddy. His death would be slow and painful, I had to pay him back properly for this wound he left on my chest.

I didn"t come out unscathed from our second exchange. There were now additional b.l.o.o.d.y gashes all over my body. My robe was fully torn, exposing my muscular physique. I was panting hard. Fighting under this gravity was so difficult. If I wasn"t constrained by it I could easily slaughter these mindless beasts.

Now I had gotten so many injuries from fighting with them, it only made me want to get stronger. I didn"t have much time to think while in the middle of such a heated battle. Right now the shadow of death was looming over me. I would die without a grave if I could not finish off the pink feathered raptor.

"Chubs get your fat a.s.s over here!" I screamed. I had forgotten about that gluttonous a.s.shole since I was lost in the heat of battle. He was a mid-Baron. Why hadn"t he helped me in the fight so far? Wasn"t I here to help him get revenge? What a thankless task.

"I"m scared young lord!" Chubs said in a gloomy voice as he stayed far back under his turtle sh.e.l.l.

"And I"m scared of dieing, get your fat a.s.s over here and stall this pink feathered raptor while I recover!" I said in rage.

"Young lord, I"m still traumatized from the last time the raptor beat me!" said Chubs as he stayed under his turtle sh.e.l.l.

"You weren"t traumatized when you rushed over here, for me to get revenge for you!" I said as I literally coughed up blood.

"Stall this raptor and I"ll give you many delicious pills!" I said, attempting to b.u.t.ter up the glutton as the pink raptor closed back in on me.

I was at the edge of life of death, and the turtle was beyond useless, not helping one bit. I didn"t even have time to punish him with my u003cSoul Brandu003e. The only one I could do was focus on the battle. I had to depend on was myself. I gathered my resolve and engaged back in combat with the pink feathered raptor.

It was the only one left now, I either had to kill or incapacitate it so I could see to my wounds. I had hardly injured the pink feathered raptor, as it was to most agile of the three raptors.

It speed to my side as jaws came in sideways attempting to chomp me in two. I stayed still and let it sink its teeth in my body, then I brutally stabbed Freedom into the roof of its head while nailing Destiny through its neck. All the remaining essence I had flowed through my two blades as the raptor was electrocuted and ignited within a single breath.

My side now had a giant bite wound in addition to the large gash on my chest. Such a self-sacrificial tactic was the only way I could think to immediately end that battle. I was too exhausted to fight a prolonged battle against a strong opponent.

I panted and downed an entire bottle of healing pills. These were just enough to stave me off from death. Unfortunately, the best pills I had were meant for peak-Knights. They were helpful to Chubs before because he was a low-Baron. But they did almost nothing to heal my peak-Baron physique.

I cauterized the rest of the bleeding around my body. Now I was heavily injured with multiple wounds and torn robes. Nothing like a young lord should present himself. I headed over to the disabled red-feathered raptor to get a bit of revenge for being the main instigator to push me to this state.

Unfortunately, in my current condition, I didn"t have time to torture him for now. He was nothing short of defenseless with a leg cut off. I brought out Judgment and crushed his other leg as he screamed in pain. I then shattered his jaw so he would shut the h.e.l.l up. Brutal but effective.

"This is just the beginning of my revenge," I said as I dusted off my hands.

"When I find time to heal myself, I will properly refine your soul so you can spend the rest of your existence as a soul slave to this young lord."

I ignored the crippled red-feathered raptor, with its condition now there was no way it would escape my grasp. I used the last of my strength to hobble myself into the raptor"s cave for refuge. I entered the cave with caution, fearful there would be something else left in here.

Considering how strongly the raptors defended this cave, I doubted anything else would reside in it. Only those two came to fight when the first raptor called for backup. If there was a fourth raptor, I was probably dead anyway, so I quickly put those cautious thoughts to the back of my head. Right now I needed a place to take shelter while I recovered, and this was the best place.

I sat down upon walking into the cave. It took every fiber of my being to stay awake. I wanted nothing more than to pa.s.s out, but there was no way I could let that happen. The only way I would live through these injuries would be to craft a healing pill.

The knight grade pills stabilized me, but they were hardly enough. I downed an entire bag of cultivation recovery pills, then brought out a cauldron from my storage bag.

I would have to break through in my alchemy here and now or I would die! The Codex was unreachable; I had tried multiple times to call for Sybil since walking in the cave. It seemed the only one I could truly depend on was myself.

I hated the fat turtle to death for his cowardice making me end up in such a condition, but didn"t even have the attention to spare him at the moment.

I began preparing my ingredients for a life or death forging, as I tried to calm my mind.
