“Looks like you know what grat.i.tude is.” When he saw how cute the snow-white little beast looked, Xiao Yun smiled and received the cauldron. He drank the Fire vital essence as if he was drinking wine – of course, he activated the Violet Flame Martial Spirit, causing a violet glow to appear around his lips. Otherwise, this Fire vital essence would have burned him into nothing after entering his body.
“What dense Fire vital essence.” After drinking a mouthful of the Fire vital essence, Xiao Yun’s mind trembled, feeling incredibly shocked.
This Fire vital essence was incredibly dense, as if it had been continuously refined so that only the purest Fire vital essence remained. It tasted like an incredibly rich and fragrant wine, making him feel intoxicated. At the same time, Xiao Yun’s Violet Flame Martial Spirit and his own Martial Spirit both noticeably became stronger. Even though it was only a little, the effects were hundreds, if not thousands greater than absorbing normal Fire Essence Qi.
Upon inspection, Xiao Yun found that the first leaf on his Fire Essence Qi sub-branch was starting to condense dewdrops, and the second leaf was now about as big as a palm, and started to gather fiery mist above it. This sort of change caused Xiao Yun to feel ecstatic.
“Yiya!”
When it saw how intoxicated Xiao Yun looked, the snow-white little beast nodded, indicating for Xiao Yun to drink some more.
Xiao Yun smiled and did not refuse, and continued to drink a few mouthfuls. The little cauldron looked as big as a wine goblet, but the Fire vital essence contained within seemed boundless. After all, the cauldron was originally more than a hundred metres tall! One could only imagine how much Fire vital essence was stored inside it.
Beside them, the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow watched on, burning with jealousy.
“Yiya!”
The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow went over, wanting to also take a sip, but the snow-white little beast yelled out in refusal. After Xiao Yun had his fill, he returned the little cauldron to the snow-white little beast.
After drinking so much Fire vital essence, he could feel that his Violet Flame Martial Spirit’s aura had become much more powerful.
“Do you want to leave this place with me?” Xiao Yun asked the snow-white little beast.
The snow-white little beast nodded, wrapping its little paws around Xiao Yun’s neck, as if it was afraid that Xiao Yun would abandon it. Xiao Yun smiled when he saw how cute it was. It seemed that this little fellow had become attached to him.
“What’s your name?” Xiao Yun asked.
“Yiya?”
The snow-white little beast blinked with its long eyelashes, looking up at Xiao Yun, as if it didn’t understand what a name was.
“I’ll give you a name then. How does Yiyi sound?” After some consideration, Xiao Yun thought this name suited it because this little fellow spoke with ‘yiya’. Furthermore, a name like Yiyi suited how cute it was.
The little beast blinked then nodded, seeming quite happy with this name. Afterwards, Xiao Yun prepared to leave.
Very soon, they had returned to where they had first met Yiyi, and found a pa.s.sage – this was the pa.s.sage that he had entered from.
If we go out through the Skyfire Inheritor Palace, we might be discovered by other people, which will bring problems for us,” Xiao Yun said as he hesitated, not in a rush to leave. He had killed the Qiu family’s people, so if they just left like this, things might not turn out well for him.
His goal was to go to the Imperial City, not to make trouble for himself. After witnessing the might of the Essence Core realm, Xiao Yun knew just how weak he was.
“Yiya!”
Yiyi seemed to understand what Xiao Yun was thinking, and brought him to a lake of fire. This lake of fire connected to an opening outside, which would allow him to secretly leave. With the Violet Flame Martial Spirit and his own Martial Spirit protecting him, Xiao Yun would not have to worry about his safety at all. Furthermore, because of the dense vital essence of life that his Martial Spirit contained, he would not have to worry about suffocating.
Xiao Yun entered the lake of fire, and a day later, he jumped out of an opening deep within the mountains.
“I’m finally out!” After seeing the sun again, Xiao Yun cheered. Through his adventures in the Skyfire Inheritor Palace, he had received quite a few benefits.
Now that his Spirit-Destroying Divine Art had advanced to the Second Layer, he could completely control the Spirit-Destroying Spear. Now, he could fight on even grounds with True Essence realm cultivators. Before, he could only kill enemies by taking them by surprise, and he would have to be extra vigilant about using the spear. Otherwise, if he used up all of his spirit energy, he would be completely helpless against other True Essence realm cultivators.
The reason Xiao Yun had been able to deal with the Qiu family’s 2 True Essence realm cultivators from before was because they had been too careless. If others knew about his skills, it would not be so easy to deal with them.
However, reaching the Second Layer in the Spirit-Destroying Divine Art did not cause Xiao Yun to be beside himself in joy. He could only use it as a trump card, and could not rely on it – in the end, he had to rely on his own cultivation. Only by raising his cultivation would he become truly powerful.
Apart from this, Qiu Xuan Feng’s demise also allowed Xiao Yun to let out a sigh of relief. Now that the Qiu family had lost an Essence Core realm expert, he did not have to worry about his family’s safety anymore. After all, his grandpa had stepped into the Essence Core realm, and soon, the Lin family’s old patriarch and Duke Yan would be able to step into this realm as well. With 3 Essence Core realm cultivators protecting the Xiao family, how could the Qiu family dare to do anything? If they really tried anything, both sides would suffer a heavy loss.
Right now, Xiao Yun needed to focus on his own strength and aim to become a core disciple of the Heaven Origin Sect.
The Moonwind City, the Imperial City, was like a mighty lion lying in the middle of a spa.r.s.e mountain range, giving off a majestic and ancient air. From the air, one would feel as if this gigantic city was a divine beast, with many structures looking like its wings. Evidently, this city had been carefully planned to be like this.
As the sun began to set outside the Moonwind City, a youth suddenly stopped walking. He looked up at the gigantic city and deeply breathed in, feeling quite awed by the might of this ancient city. There was a snow-white little beast in the youth’s arms – evidently, this was Xiao Yun and Yiyi.
“This Imperial City’s quite extraordinary,” the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow said as it sent out its senses.
“How is it extraordinary?” Xiao Yun asked. Even though he could feel the city’s boundless might as well as the profound feeling it gave off, he did not know why this was so.
“From the layout of the city, the ancestor of the Imperial Clan definitely had an extraordinary bloodline,” the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow said.
“Oh.” Xiao Yun replied, s.p.a.cing out. He then shook his head and entered into the Imperial City. Even though it was nearly dusk, it was still lively and bustling within the Imperial City. After entering, Xiao Yun could see people everywhere, and all sorts of noises came at him from all directions. Just as Xiao Yun entered, he was inundated by the noise. After entering this Imperial City, Xiao Yun felt as if he had entered a boundless heavens and earth.
Innate realm cultivators were everywhere, and he could even occasionally see True Essence realm cultivators.
“Looks like people from all sorts of places are here to take the examination.” Xiao Yun sent out his spirit energy so that he could have a grasp on the situation. There was less than a month until the examination started, so everyone who had gained the right to examination were hurrying from various places within the Moonwind Kingdom.
Soon, this place would be filled with all sorts of excellent geniuses from all across the Moonwind Kingdom.
After finding out the general situation, Xiao Yun left for the Cloudsea Merchant Alliance. The Imperial Capital was quite large, with vast streets everywhere. Finding the Yuan family’s residence was quite difficult, but finding the Cloudsea Merchant Alliance was much easier.
After asking around, Xiao Yun came to a large store. This store had 4 floors, and looked splendorous and majestic. After entering, Xiao Yun felt as if he had walked into a ma.s.sive palace.
Just as Xiao Yun entered, a woman in a uniform walked over and courteously greeted Xiao Yun, “Greetings, is there anything you’d like help with?” This was the Cloudsea Merchant Alliance’s etiquette, because those who came here were all quite wealthy and powerful, and could not be treated rudely.
“I’m here to find someone.” Xiao Yun took out his medallion as he asked, “Who’s the manager here?”
“Please come with me to the VIP Lounge and wait there.” When she saw the medallion, the attendant’s eyes lit up, and she hurriedly brought the youth to the VIP Lounge on the second floor.
This VIP Lounge was quite luxurious. The tables were all made from high-quality incense wood, and sitting inside the VIP Lounge would make a person’s mind feel soothed. The wine cups were all made from fine jade, and were completely translucent. The wine inside them sparkled, and gave off a fragrant aroma.
There were 2 serving ladies beside Xiao Yun who were extremely enthusiastic. Only the biggest clients had this violet and gold medallion and could receive such good treatment.
Xiao Yun closed his eyes and meditated, waiting for the manager. Not too long later, footsteps came from outside the lounge, and Xiao Yun slowly opened his eyes.
The door was opened and a middle-aged man walked in. When he saw Xiao Yun, a strange light appeared in his eyes, but it immediately disappeared. He gave a smile and enthusiastically walked up as he said, “This lowly one is the Cloudsea Merchant Alliance’s manager, Yuan Mo. I wonder what this young sir would like, or what he needs help with?”
“I want to talk to your family’s Elder Yuan – Yuan Cheng,” Xiao Yun said as he raised his eyebrows. This Yuan Cheng was Yuan Xu’s friend, and could be trusted.
“Elder Yuan?” Yuan Mo frowned, then gave a flattering smile, “Elder Yuan is usually quite busy and normal people aren’t able to see him. Do you have an appointment, or do you have an introduction so that this old man can let him know?”
Xiao Yun frowned at the old man’s behaviour then said, “This is a letter for him. Please pa.s.s it to Elder Yuan.”
The manager received the letter, and seeing the name written on it, his gaze became serious. “Yuan Xu?”
“Haha, please wait for a moment, I’ll be back soon,” Yuan Mo said as he smiled.
“Make sure you all treat this young sir well; don’t neglect him at all,” Yuan Mo said before leaving.
Xiao Yun narrowed his eyes, and continued to wait.
“I feel that this person isn’t reliable,” the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow said.
“Let’s just wait for now.” Since he was the one making a request, he would have to be pa.s.sive.
After a while, night fell, and lights illuminated the Imperial City’s streets. Even though there were less people on the streets, the restaurants and taverns became incredibly lively.
Suddenly, a group of people quickly drew near the Cloudsea Merchant Alliance.
“Someone’s coming!” Within the VIP Lounge, Xiao Yun’s eyes suddenly flew open, a cold smile on his face. Through his spirit energy, he had detected everything happening outside.
This was a fairly strong group of cultivators. There were 20 or so of them, and the 3 people in the lead were all at the True Essence realm. The others were all at the complete stage of the Innate realm, and all of them streamed into the Cloudsea Merchant Alliance. However, no one from the Cloudsea Merchant Alliance stopped them.
