“Very well, very well.” When Xiao Yun did not immediately say that he could cure the poison, the Third Patriarch felt even more excited. Evidently, this youth was not someone who was full of hot air!

Soon, the carriage arrived in front of a large residence.

“After entering the residence, I’ll take you to meet some of the elders of our family. After all, Qiu Yu Chen, who you killed, had quite an extraordinary status. If you want us to support you against the Qiu family, you’ll need to persuade the leaders of the family. Otherwise, I’ll be unable to make this decision by myself,” the Third Patriarch said to Xiao Yun. “I hope you can understand. After all, as a large family, we need to put our own interests first.”

“I understand,” Xiao Yun said as he shrugged, not taking this to heart.

“That’s good.” Seeing that Xiao Yun did not mind, the Third Patriarch relaxed.

After entering the residence, the Third Patriarch invited Xiao Yun and some of the important members of the family to a banquet. During the banquet, everyone chatted cheerily, not touching on the heavy topic. Only after they had had much food and wine did they start discussing this.

“Haha, I heard that young sir Xiao can refine pills. Is this the case?” An elder in his 60s sat at the main seat. His name was Yuan Lin, the Eldest Patriarch of the Yuan family. He was the current Yuan family’s leader and was an Essence Core realm cultivator.

The Third Patriarch sat to the right of the main seat, while Xiao Yun was sitting to the left of the main seat. This sort of treatment was extremely rare, and caused the two other youths in the hall to feel extremely jealous. These two youths were both descendants of the main house of the Yuan family, and were around 17 or 18 years old. However, they were standing beside other elders.

“That’s right,” Xiao Yun said as he stood up and cupped his hands respectfully. “I’ve been lucky to have studied pilled refining for a few years, and have made some accomplishments.” Master Yuan told him to try and keep a low-profile, which was why he had said that he had been studying pill refining for a few years.

“Oh?” Hearing this, the elders within the hall all raised their eyebrows.

“You’ve made some accomplishments after only a few years?” the youths muttered, feeling quite displeased. Normally, it took ten or so years to make some accomplishments and yet this youth had made such a bold claim? Did he think they were idiots?

These people were all descendants of the main house and had heard of what had happened in the Violet Cloud County. Naturally, they knew who Xiao Yun was.

They also knew that the only Pill Refiner in the entire Violet Cloud County was Master Yuan! Could Master Yuan befriend a Pill Refiner with any accomplishments? Of course not – everyone knew that Yuan Xu was someone who could only refine Grade 1 medicinal pills. He would be unable to refine normal Grade 2 pills, let alone the advanced ones. And yet, this youth had said that he had made some accomplishments in pill refining.

Many people believed Xiao Yun to be a youth who just wanted to use the Yuan family to enter the Heaven Origin Sect.

However, Yuan Cheng calmly smiled. He was clearer than anyone else about this matter. Not too long ago, Yuan Xu had written to the Eldest Patriarch about Xiao Yun’s talent. He had also written to Yuan Cheng, telling him about many things that other people didn’t know. Yuan Cheng trusted Yuan Xu, but it was not convenient for him to state his views – after all, he needed to see this youth’s abilities for himself.

The Eldest Patriarch did not look as shocked as everyone else. He only calmly smiled as he said, “Haha, my grandson’s at the complete stage of the Body Tempering Realm. Would young sir Xiao have time to refine an Innate Pill for him sometime? I’m sure that such a pill would help him step into the Innate realm.”

Beside the Eldest Patriarch stood a youth who was about 14 or 15 years old. He had a delicate appearance, and calmly looked at Xiao Yun, his gaze filled with provocation, as if he was questioning whether Xiao Yun could refine an Innate Pill.

The other youths in the hall also looked at Xiao Yun in doubt.

“Very well.” Xiao Yun did not mind these people doubting him at all.

“Haha, that’s good,” the Eldest Patriarch laughed. “It’s getting late, so please rest at our Yuan residence.”

“Third Patriarch, Miss Yuan’s poison has started acting up again!” At this moment, a cry sounded out. Everyone frowned and looked over to see an elderly serving lady rush in.

“What? Ting’Er’s poison has acted up again?” the Third Patriarch yelled out as he suddenly got up. Everyone else also looked at the elderly serving lady.

“Mm. Miss Yuan’s feeling extremely uncomfortable with the poison acting up all around her body. Third Patriarch, please go and have a look,” the elderly serving lady said worriedly.

“Has she taken an Antidote Pill?” the Third Patriarch asked.

“We just finished using the Antidote Pills. Third Patriarch, please hurry and have a look.” The elderly serving lady seemed extremely anxious.

“Mm.” The Third Patriarch’s expression became grim. He then looked at Xiao Yun and said, “How about young sir Xiao come with us as well?”

“Very well.” Xiao Yun also wanted to see Miss Yuan’s condition.

“Let’s all go,” The Eldest Patriarch said as he frowned.

“That would be good,” the Third Patriarch said as he nodded his head. With his brother’s Essence Core realm cultivation, he would be able to help stabilise the poison if need be. He then said to a youth, “Xiao’Er, hurry and go to your Uncle Tian Ju and bring a few Antidote Pills.”

“Yes, third uncle,” the youth immediately replied and hurriedly left.

“Let’s go.” The Thrid Patriarch immediately brought the group of people to his courtyard. When they arrived, they saw a few serving ladies hurrying about, and one immediately came up.

“How is she?” the Third Patriarch asked.

“The young miss’ mind has been quite hazy, and has been drifting in and out of consciousness,” the serving lady said anxiously.

“What? She’s been drifting in and out of consciousness?” the Third Patriarch asked seriously, “How long has it been since her poison started acting up?”

“Less than 20 minutes,” the serving lady replied.

“Less than 20 minutes?” The Third Patriarch deeply frowned.

“Looks like Ting’Er’s poison is about to fully break out,” the Eldest Patriarch said. “Let’s hurry and go in.”

“Mm.” The Third Patriarch did not hesitate, and brought the group of people to Yuan Wan Ting’s bedroom. The other elders all followed, feeling quite worried as seniors towards this girl.

After entering the room, Xiao Yun saw a sickly-looking girl on a redwood bed. The girl’s face was pretty, but it had no l.u.s.tre to it, and it seemed quite old. Adding on her dim eyes, she did not look like a 17 or 18-year-old girl at all. Xiao Yun couldn’t help but frown.

“Looks like this poison is devouring her lifeforce. If this goes on, she won’t be able to live for long,” Xiao Yun silently sighed, understanding why the Third Patriarch seemed so worried, and why he had immediately asked him about curing poisons as soon as they had met.

“Ting’Er, Ting’Er, it’s father! Try to stay awake!” The Third Patriarch rushed over and held the girl’s hand.

“Father?” Yuan Wan Ting’s eyes were unfocused, and she did her best to blink and look at the elder next to her. She then said with great effort, “I don’t think I can hold on for much longer… I won’t be able to stay with you anymore.”

The young woman’s words were spoken extremely softly, and she had a pleasant voice, which anyone would want to continuously listen to. This greatly contrasted with her old and sickly appearance.

“Looks like the poison in Ting’Er’s body is about to completely break out!” the Eldest Patriarch exclaimed as he walked up and looked at his niece seriously. “Even Antidote Pills will only be able to stabilise her poison temporarily. We’ll be unable to do anything the next time that the poison breaks out.”

“Ai.” Seeing his daughter’s reluctance to part with them, the Third Patriarch felt an immense pain within his heart. His daughter was only 18 years old, and should have been in the springtime of her youth. However, because of this poison, she had never experienced any of the joys that people her age had, and there were still many wonderful things waiting for her to try and do. However, these things were all like clouds to her – they could only be looked at but not touched.

“Don’t worry, father will definitely find a way to save you,” the Third Patriarch promised.

“I’ve already burdened father for so many years; it’s good if I leave now.” A bitter smile appeared on Yuan Wan Ting’s face. She knew her condition the best – this poison would only act up once every 3 years in the past, but after she turned 14, the poison would break out more and more frequently, and none of the medicines she took were of any use.

Now that the poison had broken out again, she could feel her lifeforce being continuously devoured.

“Don’t say that. Let your eldest uncle help you suppress the poison,” the Eldest Patriarch said.

Hearing this, the Third Patriarch hurriedly retreated to one side. Only his big brother with his Essence Core realm cultivation could suppress this poison.

“It’s best if you let me.” At this moment, Xiao Yun, who had been silently standing by, suddenly spoke.

“You?” Hearing this, everyone turned to look at Xiao Yun in surprise.

“Can you do it?”  Even the elders looked doubtful. This poison had caused the entire Yuan family to feel helpless – what could this youth do?

Did he think that he could suppress the poison with his Innate realm cultivation?

“It’s best that you don’t stir up trouble here,” one of the youths said with a look of contempt. From the way they saw it, Xiao Yun was trying to get on their Yuan family’s good side.

“He’s trying to show off in a situation like this?” Even two of the elders looked over in derision.

“Are you able to do anything?” The Eldest Patriarch asked with a curious tone after looking over in surprise.

“Miss Yuan’s poison has completely broken out, and even if you suppress it, it won’t change anything. Furthermore, this Moon Demon Poison is not something that ordinary Antidote Pills can cure,” Xiao Yun said as he looked at the ashen-faced girl.

With his powerful spirit energy, Xiao Yun was able to clearly a.n.a.lyse the girl’s poison.

“Don’t try to scare us with these words,” a fairly handsome-looking youth said as he coldly harrumphed. “You know little sister Wan Ting’s condition after just looking at her? Hmph, do you think you’re some sort of G.o.dly physician?”

The Eldest Patriarch looked at Xiao Yun in curiosity. This youth had only looked at Yuan Wan Ting and had not even felt her pulse; how could he know her condition? Could he have been speaking without thinking?

However, seeing how earnest Xiao Yun looked, that didn’t seem to be the case.

“What he said is correct.” At this moment, a man walked over and said, “Wan Ting’s poison is not something that ordinary Antidote Pills can suppress anymore. That’s why I did not continue giving her Antidote Pills, and instead did my best to research other medicinal pills.”
