Yan Su kept quiet.
She finally burst into laughter, “If my dad asks why Yan Yan is your child, you better answer him that way.”
It was now Mo Liuxi’s turn to be awkwardly silent.
If he said that, he might get beaten to death by Yan Lv.
When he got out, Mo Liuxi unloaded all their luggage from the back of the car. He was inexperienced when it came to visiting his future in-laws. He had been a.n.a.lyzing how Nian Junting managed to win Mo Jin over so quickly in the past, and he concluded that it was because had really thick skin and was good at kissing a.s.s.
Thick skin was all that Mo Liuxi had; he wasn’t good at sweet-talking. He would do his best though, for Yan Su’s sake.
“Uncle, Auntie, I wasn’t quite sure what to buy you so I only bought some tonics and health supplements. I hope they come in handy,” Mo Liuxi smiled cordially and politely. “I bought lots of goodies and snacks for our ultra-handsome little Jinjin over here.”
Yan Jin rolled his eyes—he didn’t use to suck up to him like this. He remembered that he couldn’t even be bothered to answer him in the past.
“We don’t need these things,” said Yan Lv coldly. There wasn’t any warmth in his tone of voice. “Leave now with all your things. Stop bothering Yan Su from now on. Let me give it to you straight—I will not approve of the two of you together. You are way too immature.”
Mo Liuxi simply ignored what he had just said and went on with his introduction, “The last box is filled with presents and clothes for Yan Yan.”
Yan Lu and Jiang Peiying were stunned—they didn’t expect Mo Liuxi to know that Yan Su had a child. However, it wouldn’t have been too far fetched for him to know either since she had brought him back home for the Lunar New Year. She must have expected him to find out sooner or later.
“That doesn’t mean that we’ll accept you even if you have accepted Yan Yan,” Jiang Peiying said calmly. “Look at how young you are. Boys your age are immature, so how can we trust that you will treat the child well…”
“I will treat Yan Yan well, because… I am Yan Yan’s biological father,” Mo Liuxi said enthusiastically.
“What?” Yan Lv and Jiang Peiying both gasped. They both stared at Mo Liuxi before turning to glare at Yan Su.
“Is it true?” Yan Lv pointed his trembling finger at Yan Su.
Yan Su nodded. Jiang Peiying said, “No wonder he looked strangely familiar the first time I saw his photos. He does look a lot like Yan Yan.”
“So what if they look alike?” Yan Lu shouted sternly, “Did he take care of Yan Su for a single day when she was pregnant? Where was he when Yan Su gave birth to Yan Yan? We were the ones who brought her up. He didn’t even pay a single penny for her. He has no right to be Yan Yan’s father. Good… it’s good that you’re here. I’ve been holding this grudge against the d.a.m.n man who impregnated my daughter for far too long. I’m going to teach you a lesson today…”
Initially, he had only wanted to teach Yan Su a lesson, but after all that, he couldn’t wait to give Mo Liuxi a long-deserved beating.
“Uncle…” Mo Liuxi said as he quickly grabbed a washboard from the back of his car and knelt on it. Yan Lv’s cane was frozen in midair, “What are you doing?”
Yan Su was stunned as well—she didn’t expect him to pull such a trick.
“This is my apology… this is the washboard that has been pa.s.sed down to every man in my family. Every time my father or my brother-in-law does something wrong, they would kneel on this,” Mo Liuxi said seriously. “You are my elder, and you are Yan Su’s father. I should be kneeling to show my sincerest apologies, but given the situation, it would be more appropriate for me to be kneeling on this washboard.”
