I’ll Still Love You Even If You’re a Man

Chapter 26

***********************************************
An Ziyan went to his grandfather"s house in another city for the New Year. Mai Ding blew on his hands and went out of the warm room with an envelope and sent his greeting card to the address that Bai Xiaosi gave him. Mai Ding thought that it was more meaningful to send a card rather than sending one message. Seeing the envelope drop into the postbox, he tapped the postbox and said: "Bro, my love counts on you, so please send it to him soon." (I think it"s better to say this to the postman.)

Mai Ding couldn"t help shivering just with his pajamas on. He was trembling when he returned to his room, and he then looked out the window. He was nervous until the postman took the letter away.

Mai Ding"s hometown was far, so his family only returns to his hometown twice or three times a year. This year, his family went there for the New Year. Mai Ding knew that he may miss An Ziyan while they"re apart, but he had no idea that he would miss An Ziyan that much.

However, he decided not to call An Ziyan, which made him feel proud. He decided to turn away from An Ziyan to make him realize his importance. Lovers liked to play these tricks with each other.

The Chinese New Year"s Eve was coming, although there were only three people at home, it was very cheerful. Everything was okay. Mai Ding missed An Ziyan while he was looking at the rain: When can we ever be together for the New Year?

In another city, An Su went back home and tossed a letter to An Ziyan. When An Ziyan saw the irregular words, he recognized who wrote it. He opened the letter slowly, a red card with two chubby kids on it fell out. It was old-fashioned. An Ziyan checked what was behind the letter, and several words were written on it:

Happy New Year, my An Ziyan. It is sleeting now and it"s cold, but I will wait for you to warm me up. Next year, you should give your love to me unceasingly.
Love, Your Mai Ding.

"Little fool." An Ziyan cursed.

An Su leaned closer.

"Who wrote this?"

"Its none of your business." An Ziyan put the card into his bag.

Actually, An Su had already guessed the answer. It was n.o.body else but Mai Ding.

"Xiao Si is back. Why do you still want to be together with that guy? Grandpa is not doing very well. What if he learns about it and he gets sick? This year, Xiao Si made excuses to avoid coming over. Did you do something to hurt her?" An Su sneered.

An Su still insisted to talk about it. "I"m talking to you. Look at your insensible att.i.tude! Sometimes, I really don"t know what you are thinking about. Is there anything wrong with Xiao Si? What does Mai Ding have that she doesn"t? Have you become blind?" An Su said with an angry voice.

"You should know when to shut up."

"I am your older sister!"

"It"s my business, stay out of it and stop saying bulls.h.i.t." An Ziyan then stood up and went out of the room. His back was against the wall and he looked at the clock, afterwards, he took out his phone and called Mai Ding when the time turned to 12 midnight. Mai Ding answered the
call immediately. He has been waiting for him to call for a long time.

"You finally remembered to call me?" Mai Ding said spitefully.

No one replied, Mai Ding kept talking, "Is it okay there? I am so envious because you can celebrate the festival with your grandparents. I can"t enjoy the moment like this." Mai Ding lied down on his bed and continued to talk to An Ziyan.

"If you want, you can come over." An Ziyan said.

"What are you talking about! No one wants to be with you for the New Year." An Ziyan"s sudden words made Mai Ding feel a little shy. "Well, when can you come back?"

"What"s wrong?"

"I miss you a little bit, but don"t get your hopes up, just a little bit. My life is still colorful without you."

"Mm."

"What?" Mai Ding curled his lip, when he heard the cold response.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

The bell rung and the blasting sound of fireworks can be heard. Mai Ding got up, opened the curtains, and looked at the gorgeous sky.

"Happy New Year, An Ziyan."

"Mai Ding."

"Mhm?"

"You should know something."

"Mhm?"

"I love you."

An Ziyan then hung up the phone. Mai Ding got skeptic. What did that guy say just now? Did I hear that right? So, he can actually say those kind of words. Mai Ding"s heart was as colorful as the fireworks. What was happiness? It was the lovers talking to each other. Mai Ding then lied back down on his bed. This New Year was really wonderful.

Meanwhile, An Ziyan punched the wall with aggravation. It was really awkward to say those f.u.c.king words. But those words were all that Mai Ding wanted to hear. In return for the happiness that An Ziyan gave to him, Mai Ding sent a text message to An Ziyan:
"Recently, I hear this song online"

He then spent about an hour to edit the lyrics and later on sent the message at night.

"Greatness as you
Smallest as me
You show me what is deep as sea
A little love,
A little kiss,
A little hug,
A little gift
All of little something, these are memories

You make me cry,
Make me smile,
Make me feel the love is true
You always stand by my side,
I don"t want to say goodbye

You make me cry,
Make me smile,
Make me feel the joy of love
Oh! Kissing you
Thank you for all the love that you always give to me
Oh! I love you

An Ziyan, I"ll learn how to sing it, and I"ll sing it for you at home."
(Note: The t.i.tle of this song is "A Little Love" by Fiona Fung)

"No."

Everyone knows about the terrible singing voice of Mai Ding. The spring festival was to end casually. Mai Ding thought that the spring gala of this year was more boring than that of last year"s. It was less human and more on digital techniques.

During their childhood, the reason why they look forward to the spring festival was because we could get lucky money. Now that they"ve grown up, they expected less, so Mai Ding was not into the festival as much as before. An Ziyan should be back when the festival is over. He couldn"t help but call An Ziyan.

"Are you back?"

"Yeah."

"Have you brought any local specialties for me?"

"No."

"Why, are you at home? My mother made some dumplings and I"ll bring some over for you."

An Ziyan wanted to ignore Mai Ding"s enthusiasm, but in the end, he didn"t do that. Mai Ding took three hours to bring the dumplings to An Ziyan. When he arrived at the door, he saw a car. Although he knew nothing about cars, he knew that the car was new and beautiful. Did someone come over? Why didn"t An Ziyan tell him? He secretly peeked into the window.

There was n.o.body else but An Ziyan inside, playing on his computer. Mai Ding knocked on the window, and with a low voice, he said, "An Ziyan, it"s me, Mai Ding." Like a spy. An Ziyan turned back to see Mai Ding being sneaky. "What are you doing?"

"Do you have any guests? I"m afraid that I"ll be inconvenient."

"No one else is here but me."

"No one? Then, whose car is that?" Mai Ding said with a formal tone.

"Mine."

"You bought a new car again? Are you kidding me? lf you have that much money, why not donate it to primary schools? Why are you so heartless? Why not think about
our country and its poor children? You are a shame to the Chinese."

"Someone gave this to me."

"Who was foolish enough to give this to you? Doesn"t that person know how to use it?" No matter who wasted the money, Mai Ding would blame him.

Mai Ding looked at the car and went near it, and while he lied on the gla.s.s, he admiringly said "This car"s pretty good." He then went back to the window and told An Ziyan "Does the new car have new functions?"

An Ziyan was playing with his computer, and because he wasn"t facing Mai Ding, Mai Ding couldn"t see the smile on An Ziyan"s face "All features are voice-controlled."

Mai Ding"s mouth opened in astonishment. "Really?! Technology has already escalated to this level? So, can I try it out?

"Ok."

Mai Ding put the dumplings aside, walked around the car for several times, then cleared his throat and said, "Unlock." The car then made a sound, the light turned on, and the car unlocked itself. Mai Ding got more excited. "An Ziyan, this is so cool!" said Mai Ding to An Ziyan, who used the car"s keys to unlock it.

"Open the door."

The door of the car did not open, Mai Ding thought that his voice was not high enough, so he shouted at the car.

"Open the door!"

There was still no reaction.

"An Ziyan, is there something wrong with the car? Why did it not answer?"

"You should be more polite." An Ziyan tried to speak to him in a calm voice.

"Please open the door."

No matter how much Mai Ding tried, even though he spoke in standard Chinese, improper Chinese, English, native dialect or something else, the door remained shut. Meanwhile, he heard An Ziyan laughing, and then he realized what had happened at once.

He didn"t think of anything else but one thing: His lover played a trick on him. He was too late to realize. He stood by the window and pointed at An Ziyan. "Don"t you have a conscience? I brought dumplings for you! You are too naive to do this." An Ziyan shrugged his shoulders, which meant he thought about how foolish Mai Ding was.

Mai Ding was too shy to do anything, he then climbed into the window and said, "An Ziyan, I will fight with you until I die." He climbed into the room like a ghost, and wanted to flirt with An Ziyan, but at that moment, he thought of one more serious problem, and that made his face turn bright.

"Bro, how about your other car?" With a sly face, Mai Ding thought, "Why not give it to me?"

"I am going to sell it and donate the money to primary schools."

In a soft voice, he then flirted with An Ziyan "Please don"t, I am actually poor, rich water should be kept in its own field, don"t you think so?"

"Why are you so heartless? Why not think about our country and its poor children? You are a shame to the Chinese." An Ziyan threw back the words that Mai Ding told him.
