Chapter 43: The Scene The Girl Has Seen (3)

‘Bmb bmb bmb, bmb bmb bmb…’

The rhythmic sound of knocking came from outside the window.

“Cough cough… Qinmeng, is it you? Cough cough…” The little girl dragged her weak body and stumbled to the window, then opened the window as usual.

“Hey, how do you feel today?” The sparrow flew into the room, hovered two circles above the girl’s head then landed on the windowsill.

“Cough cough, much better than yesterday.”

The little girl forced a haggard smile on her face, then draw out a walnut from the pocket of her hospital gown. “Sorry, Qinmeng. The nurse didn’t allow me out of my bed. I don’t have food for you… only this.”

“It doesn’t matter. I’m not picky about food.”

The sparrow jumped on the walnut, which was bigger than its head, then “do do do” pecked it.

“Do you have stories today?” The girl slightly coughed for a while, then asked.

“Of course. I have many stories… for example, today in the City Park…”

As usual, the sparrow pecked the nut and told the little girl what it saw and heard today.

However, after a while, it heard no voice from the girl, it felt a little curious and raised up its head, finding the girl lying on the ground. She had lost consciousness.

“Bad! Come on, anyone can help her… oh dammit, I forget mortals can’t hear my voice.”

The sparrow hovered in circles in the room, then made a decision, flying to the nursing station of the hospital. After causing a big disturbance there, its action scared several nurses who thought they were involved into a paranormal event, but also guided them to the little girl.

When the little girl woke up, she found that she was laying on a lily-white hospital bed wearing  an oxygen mask that covered her face.

Beside the bed, a doctor was watching the machine and recording something. When the doctor noticed that she had woken up, he first scold her for opening the window in her when her body was so weak.; then when he saw that she had lowered her head with depression, he soothed her by telling her that she was fine, and that she shouldn’t worry too much.

After the doctor left, the little girl raised up her head and gazed at the window. However, there was only half of a walnut, no sign of the sparrow Qinmeng.

After that, day in and day out the little girl’s body went from bad to worse. The sparrow still flew out of the window and “do do do” pecked the window, but the little girl gradually lost the ability to force her strength to open the window.

Despite all that, the sparrow didn’t mind it. It always stood outside the window and talked about the outside world with the little girl. If the little girl apologized for not preparing food, it would peck the walnut to hint that it didn’t mind.

Maybe the sparrow had used some special method, the half of walnut, as though rooted, did not get blown off by the wind or became wet due to rain. Other birds saw also saw it but did not dare to peck at it.

No matter how ill the girl was, she also noticed that the tiny sparrow was unlike itself half a year ago. Over the past half year, its wings had became much stronger due to its continuous flying, and its eagle-like eyes also provided it another way to obtain food.

The bird came here for her .

This truth warmed the little girl’s heart, and gave her courage to accept the various therapeutic plans. She knew there was always a green sparrow awaiting her on the side of her window.

Several days later, the nurses in the hospital talked about a famous taoist priest that would come here.  Due to curiosity, the little girl asked a conversant nurse the reason, then knew that it was because the of paranormal event the sparrow caused in order to help her.

Ordinary people couldn’t see Qinmeng, as such they thought of it was a paranormal event. Plus the event was intense and looked as if there was an extremely evil ghost. Although not every many people thought of the incident in such a manner, the head nurse, whose family knew a famous taoist priest, invited the master of the temple.

Understanding the reason, the little girl felt cold as if she was in an ice cave. She clearly knew the sparrow was a youkai mentioned in folk tales. But even though it was a youkai, she knew it was hurtless. Because half a year ago, even though it was so hungry, it didn’t hurt anyone but ask her for help. If the taoist master found it, it would not survive.

From that day on, no matter how Qinmeng knock on the window and talk to the girl, she just bit her lips tightly and covered her head with the quilt. She forced herself to not talk to it. She hoped it would it feel disappointed and leave her.

Not knowing how much time had pa.s.sed, she didn’t hear the “bmb bmb bmb” sounds from the window. The half of walnut had also disappeared. The only remainder were some debris that have been there before.

The little girl’s first friend disappeared from her life.

She had expected it, but she was still sorrowful to such an extent that she couldn’t control her own pa.s.sion. In that case, her disease was getting much worse. Several days later, she had to lie on the bed again.

It was a deep night.

In her dream, the little girl felt something and opened her eyes.

Then she saw in the black night, a sparrow with green light was standing on the head of her bed, looking at her with its bright eyes.

“You scared me!” Qinmeng broke the silence, said happily, “I thought something happened to you! I almost went to ask for the medicine of immortality from my mistress! ”

“Why are you still here…” The little girl didn’t know she was happy or angry, her eyes simple couldn’t stop from welling up. “A very strong taoist priest will come here. If you don’t leave here, he will kill you.”

“Is this the reason you ignored me?”

Qinmeng wasn’t stupid. After thinking for a while it understood the reason as to why the girl’s behavior was so strange. It happily jumped back and forth on the little girl’s bed, just like a real sparrow.

However, suddenly it remembered something. It hung down its c.o.c.ked tail. “I have to go.”

The girl didn’t answer. She just covered half of her face with the quilt.

“My two brothers found me. I have to go home with them…”

Qinmeng said sadly.

“Humph… then go.” The girl’s mood seemed a little bad. She didn’t look at Qinmeng, but gazed at the oxygen line as if it was an exquisite artwork.

“I’m not a youkai, you know? So even if the taoist priest saw me, he wouldn’t be able to do anything to me.” Qinmeng continued, “I’m a green bird, an immortal creature.”

The little girl knew that Qinmeng wanted her to persuade it to stay. If she really requested, perhaps it would really take advantage of the opportunity to  stay with her.

But she didn’t want Qinmeng to take a risk for her sake.

So, they remained silent.

After a long while, Qinmeng suddenly took off a piece of feather from its tail, then put it on the girl’s chest.

“We green birds have three tail feathers during our life, and every piece of our tail feathers will bring the owner happiness. I hope you can recover, then some day…” Gradually Qinmeng’s voice became obscure, “Some day we can meet each other in the immortal world…”

Qinmeng had gone.

The little girl didn’t how it left. However, after that, she never forgot to carry the beautiful, artwork-like feather with her.

She had also healed her disease in at an incredible speed, which made the doctors shout “Medical miracle!”.

When the day for her to leave the hospital had arrived, a middle-aged man wearing a taoist priest’s robe pa.s.sed by her sickroom and was surprised at her talent.

“I’m the master of the White-hart Taoist Temple, Yun Guanyu… girl, do you want to become an immortal?”

——The end of the memory——

“In the twinkling of an eye, a long time had pa.s.sed…”

Lying on the wall, Qin Xingyan lost herself in memories. To be honest, she’d almost forgotten Qinmeng’s appearance and voice, but she still kept its words “meet each other in the immortal world” firmly in her mind. This was also the biggest motivation she practiced her power.

“It is most the time to continue my cultivation practice…” Qin Xingyan sighed, then drew back her mind.  She crossed her legs with some difficulty and was ready to practice the mental cultivation method.

Just then, with a loud sound in the upper half of the solitary room, the roof and the door disappeared at the same time. Only a three feet high wall remained.

In front of the solitary room, while holding a dog tail gra.s.s in his hand, her landlord smiled, “Yo, I come here to take you home.”

“Oh… senpai…”

The girl was stunned for a while, then smiled bitterly, “I’m just living in seclusion to practice by myself.”

“………Ah?”
