Chapter 236: Dealing with The Root of The Problem

The cloud cut through the s.p.a.ce in haste. Feng Lin stood atop it as his clothes flapped with the howling wind. In a blink of an eye, the blue sky and white clouds were pushed behind him.

When he reached his destination, he spotted two familiar silhouettes. They had been waiting for some time now.

Swoos.h.!.+

The cloud accelerated forth and he neared in an instant, scaring the pair of Greek sisters. They were alarmed and only relaxed when they saw Feng Lin on top of the cloud.

What speed!

Feng Lin seemed to have reached them in a split second, beyond their perceptual scope.

The sisters were not ordinary people and could sense the change in him. However, they could not put a finger on it.

“You became an elite cultivator?” Contrary to her previous delay in response, Aria asked in haste. Her eyes were filled with uncontrollable wariness.

She could feel a thick, pressurizing energy emitting from Feng Lin which made her entire body tense up. She couldn’t help but view him with hostility.

Feng Lin was strong before but as one who prided herself as an elite cultivator, Aris was not inferior.

Now, though, she couldn’t help but feel inferior.

With the drastic change in Feng Lin’s aura, there was a very high possibility that he had become an elite cultivator. Even his vitality was off the charts; that was the only reason why she could feel such pressure off him.

Against her strange looks, Feng Lin merely nodded with a smile. He didn’t say anything but admitted with his silence. There was no way he would reveal his own progress.

The ability of an elite cultivator was in direct relation with each cultivator’s innate characteristics. It was their greatest secret that should not be easily divulged.

Feng Lin was even more unique in this case. His path was that of Sun Wukong’s mythological path. It was uncharted territory, and no one knew about him in regards to this matter.

This was also his trump card; he couldn’t reveal it.

Watching Aris, he kept a small smile.

There was once when he had been shocked by this unruly girl’s elite cultivator status at such a young age. Now, it seemed like she was nothing more than meets the eye.

With Feng Lin’s estimation, he found out that her vitality should be around 270, slightly less than his own.

Yet, Aris was an old-timer among elite cultivators, one who had been training for a long time.

For Feng Lin to surpa.s.s her this easily was due to the acc.u.mulation during his time as a basic cultivator. He had long since broken the bottleneck to his vitality. As they said, good preparation was the key to success. Even as an elite cultivator, he wasn’t one of the weakest links anymore and was a top-notch combatant in the Solar System.

Besides, what he had awakened was a perfect-grade Spiritual Stone Monkey Gene. Its powers would subdue all genes of its grade.

The t.i.tle, “King of the Solar System”, was within his grasp.

The Greek sisters exchanged a glance after hearing Feng Lin’s answer. No matter how cool-headed and rational they were, they were still dumbstruck by this.

Before, they merely took it with a pinch of salt when Feng Lin was looking for an opportunity to break through.

Feng Lin was stuck for so long previously. Thus, had he broken through this right after knowing the Mythology Deduction Method and the Mythology Conclusion Method?

They thought Feng Lin had been stuck for so long that he couldn’t wait but try a method. Now, he should have still been in the state of a.s.sessment. How could he have succeeded this easily in such a short time?

Failure was still the greater possibility!

Yet…

Feng Lin had succeeded; it didn’t make any sense!

Even with Yana’s meticulous mind, she looked blank at this moment. This had completely exceeded her expectations.

Feng Lin smiled yet said nothing.

When Yana snapped back to reality, she was tactful in not prompting any further. Instead, she continued, “Let’s continue hunting for the aberration queen! I have long since chosen a location. It’s a small mother nest within 500 kilometers in the northeast direction! This time, we’ll…”

“Wait, wait!” Feng Lin intervened, cutting her words short.

Yana was taken aback by this, her red lips parted slightly. A rare naivety decorated her delicate and frail appearance.

“Are you going back on your words?” Aris shot a hostile glare at him and snapped. She thought that Feng Lin was taking the opportunity to ditch them after becoming an elite cultivator.

“You’ve mistaken!” Feng Lin saw through her thoughts and flashed a humorless smile.

“Then what did you mean?” Yana asked gently.

“I just think that this isn’t efficient,” said Feng Lin plainly and she couldn’t help but be affected by it. “You mean?”

“That’s right!” Feng Lin nodded, confirming her thoughts. “I’m already an elite cultivator, and my combat powers have increased tremendously. It would hardly be a challenge to hunt for a small queen and carry on our previous plan! Besides, it’d be easy for others to catch up to our points if we proceed like this. We should continue to hunt for medium queens next!”

A medium queen was equivalent to a middle-phase elite cultivator with the vitality of at least 300. It wouldn’t be that easy to manage.

However, watching Feng Lin’s determination to win, they were afraid that if they didn’t agree, they would be regarded as the burden holding him back. Their weak alliance would be in even more imminent danger then.

“Alright!” Yana might be weak but she had a decisive personality. She agreed right away.

“Sister…” Aris panicked for a moment.

A medium mother nest was a whole grade more dangerous than the small mother nests. It wasn’t something as simple as just mouthing off about it.

In such a complex setting, she didn’t have the confidence in keeping her older sister safe.

Understanding the situation, Feng Lin smiled softly. “Don’t worry!”

It was a mere medium queen with the vitality that could compare to his. What was there to fear?

Yana took a deep breath and decided not to back out. With such confidence lacing Feng Lin’s words, she could only choose to trust him.

Reading the nervous expression on the sisters, Feng Lin laughed inwardly but didn’t offer his consolation.

It wasn’t long before Yana confirmed the location of a medium mother nest.

“Let’s go!” Without hesitation, Feng Lin began moving. Along with the two ladies, the cloud drove forward and rose quickly, leaving a trace as it rushed toward their destination.

The flurry of wind was as sharp as knives, hurting as it seemed to slash one’s face.

The speed in which the three moved was beyond imagination. It formed a shuttle-like barrier in the air. It was extremely fast but did not make a single sound.

This was clearly the exact example of them breaking the speed of sound.

The Greek sisters exchanged a look; they were overwhelmed by amazement but remained silent.

In no time at all, a giant mountain cave appeared before their eyes. It looked as though a huge hole had cracked open from the Earth, swallowing everything in its sight. Every living being which fell through would cease to exist. It gave off an eerie aura, scaring others from its proximity.

Wailing!

From time to time, the whistle of the chilling wind howled from within the pits, rising and falling in succession uninterrupted.

The group of three neared the cave and immediately spotted a group of aberrations walking out of it. They were in all shapes and sizes, moving on all fours and looking like malevolent, stealthy sentinels that licked their talons and drank on blood.

It was a surprising squad of aberrations. Each was uniformed and complemented each other and had quite a strong combat power.

From the att.i.tude of these daily patrol squads, one could tell that a medium mother nest was vastly different from a small mother nest. Its security was tight, carrying a burst of alertness at the slightest movement.

Instinctively, the Greek sisters hid away while Feng Lin hid around a hidden spot, observing and measuring up the aberrations with a strange ray of light.

“The security of this medium mother nest is too tight! It’ll be difficult for us to infiltrate. Just by this aberration squad, we can tell that they’re strong. If we battled and caused too much commotion, I’m afraid the mother nest would sense something before we could even deal with our opponents. We may even be drowned in an instant…” Aris spoke in a low voice, feeling that things didn’t look too optimistic for that. She had a generous amount of experience with battling and could determine the way things would pan out.

Yana frowned as well but could not reach a conclusion even after her deep ponder. She looked toward Feng Lin.

Since he was the one who decided to come, how would he confront it now that they were faced with this obstacle?

Should they continue stubbornly, take the risk out of desperation, or shrink back and leave?

Yet, Feng Lin chuckled softly. “Let us go in!”

“Go in?” Like a hedgehog, her quills spiked up at a touch. “Wouldn’t we be seeking death if we enter in this situation?”

“How difficult would that be?” Feng Lin laughed lightly. All of a sudden, his eyes shone while he commanded, “Transform!”

With a finger on each hand, an invisible yet mysterious energy engulfed them.

The Greek sisters were just about to object when their appearance changed in the next moment. Surprised, they stared at the change in each other’s appearances. They had turned into two horrific and ugly aberrations.

“What is going on?” Much as the two ladies were usually calm, they couldn’t help but ask in shock.

This strange transformation power was unheard of.

Even so, Feng Lin didn’t have any intention of answering them.

Aberrations had sharp hearing sense and their voices had attracted their attention. The pairs of gazes swept over and their dark nostrils were tilted to the sky as they sniffed, as though trying to catch the scent in the wind. Their appearances were fierce and hostile as they crowded around them in all directions.

“Shh!” Feng Lin gestured. Right in front of the two ladies’ widened eyes, he transformed into an aberration guard.

“Follow me!” He ordered lowly then walked out first. The Greek sisters didn’t know what he was planning but could hardly be concerned with that much as they followed him in confusion.

(This is crazy! Why are we cooperating with this rascal’s insanity?)

Watching the group of aberrations as they approached, their hearts rose to their throat as the absurdity of the situation overcame them.

Yet, Feng Lin did not shrink back. Instead, he continued to strut forward.

The squad watched him strangely, their nostrils enlarging and shrinking. They were just about to take a closer look.

Feng Lin frowned, opening the gruesome mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth, and let out an intense bellow. Both his claws slammed against the armor on his chest, banging as they collided. His actions looked remarkably similar to that of an aberration, making it hard to distinguish between real or fake.

The bellow was piercing to the ears, filled with anguish and the imposing manner of an aberration with a high-ranking position.

At the sound of it, the squad immediately covered their heads with both hands. They crawled down to the floor and began to tremble.

Feng Lin kicked the two aberrations nearest to him ruthlessly, sending them flying back before continuing on his way.

Surprise and amazement painted the two ladies’ faces as they followed him closely with fear.

Soon, they found out that the route into the aberration’s mother nest was unhindered as they trailed behind Feng Lin. After meeting Feng Lin, those aberration guards seemed to have viewed him as a predator and trembled at the sight of him. None of them dared to stop Feng Lin and the sisters.

The mother nest, which had once been as dangerous as a dragon’s pool and tiger’s den in the sisters’ eyes, now seemed like an empty threat.

As opposed to Aris’s confusion and startled state, Yana was past the temporary shock and began pondering.

Was this an illusion which he was trying to pa.s.s off as a genuine transformation ability?

Feng Lin had never displayed such supernatural transformation skills before. Was this an ability he had awakened after becoming an elite cultivator?

With a short period of observation and Yana’s clever deduction, she was able to guess a portion of Feng Lin’s ability.

Feng Lin didn’t mind these trifling details either.

Even though he had evolved into a Heart Monkey, it didn’t render his Spirit Gene useless.

Once awakened, a gene would forever remain and no one would be able to s.n.a.t.c.h away the abilities.

He spread his spirit force around, searching for the structure of this medium mother nest and the accurate position of its queen.

Compared to the small mother nest from before, the internal structure of this was a lot more complicated and it was much bigger. Even with Feng Lin’s spirit force to scope out the area, he wasn’t able to grasp the accurate position in a short time.

Only the indistinct air of a strong presence which pervaded the atmosphere seemed to close in.

“Follow me!” Feng Lin used his mental transmission to direct them. Without adding anything unnecessary, he darted forward with lighter steps.

The two ladies followed in haste.

Could it be that he wanted to…

Watching Feng Lin’s posture as he pressed forward with such courage, Yana could already guess his plan.

What made it hard for her to accept was that she realized Feng Lin was in full control of their movements after becoming an elite cultivator.

Their status had completely been reduced to followers.

Feng Lin didn’t seem to hesitate in his steps, following the murderous aura in the air as he charged toward the deeper end of the mother nest and advanced relentlessly.

Yana’s speculation was right. They were going to deal with the root of the problem, using tactics of surprise and speed to a.s.sa.s.sinate the queen.

Leaving a trace as he pushed forward swiftly, they soon found themselves in the deepest end of the mother nest where the lair resided. Within it, a horrifying creature occupied the lair. It was shaped like a demonic spider and looked to be more than 20 meters big.

“Kill!” Seeing their target, Feng Lin did not waste time hesitating. With a metal cudgel in his hands, he reverted back to his original form and lurched forward.

Boom!

In a split second, the metal cudgel grew exponentially in size. It slammed down and left the queen helpless under its attack. The queen collapsed, its body sinking down.

Things had changed for Feng Lin at this point in time. The st.u.r.dy armor of the queen shattered in an instant after being hit by the metal cudgel, and the stench of blood began to flow.

The medium queen sustained major damage and began to let out a blood-curdling roar. It echoed against the mother nest’s tunnels and did not stop for a long time. It was as though she was summoning something.

Suddenly, the huge mother nest began to move.

Like a deluge, the dense crowd of aberrations began to attack. Their numbers went up to tens of thousands. The sight of them pressed up together would send s.h.i.+vers down one’s spine.

“Put a protector on me!” Feng Lin commanded. With that, it was implied that they would give their all to kill the queen and defeat the mother nest in one fell swoop.

At that moment, the Greek sisters seemed to connect telepathically with Feng Lin. Throwing away all other thoughts, they attacked as well.

Tyrant Aura Battle Statue!

The aggression in Aris seemed to surge and gather into a half-body battle statue. The pressure stopped at no one as they faced total annihilation.

Her fist was as big as a mountain as she attacked relentlessly. Under the powerful attack, the aberrations were ground into fine dust one after another.

Swish, swish, swis.h.!.+

Standing in the midst of it, Yana’s eyes shone in bright radiance. A golden, slender arm appeared in the air silently, shooting arrows after arrows with murder as its only intention. Their enemies were sliced like cut gra.s.s, falling to the ground.

Without the disruption of the aberrations, Feng Lin seized the chance and initiated a torrent-like attack. He didn’t give the queen any time to respond. He brandished the metal cudgel, forming an indestructible ring of attacks, entangling everything it came into contact with and refusing anything to escape.

The queen struggled with her life on the line. The reproduction organ in her stomach squirmed ceaselessly, hoping to give birth to yet another horrific creature and tear Feng Lin to shreds.

However, how would Feng Lin allow it the chance to counterattack once he saw through its plans? In an instant, hundreds of metal cudgels gathered into one as it slammed against the queen’s reproduction organ. It roared without stop and the creature inside died before it was birthed.

Raising in the air, Feng Lin gathered his strength in an instant and flung the queen in midair.

“Lengthen!”

The metal cudgel lengthened in the direction of the wind and penetrated through the mountain top along with the queen’s huge body. Under the exposure of the scorching sun, it was dehydrated and before long, it became a dried corpse.

The other aberrations in the mother nest were exterminated as well, just like an autumn breeze sweeping away the fallen leaves.

Every aberration was counted toward the points!

Feng Lin and the two ladies gained a leap in points, receiving 176.800 in total. In the battle of points, they gained another decisive opportunity and were now sitting comfortably in the lead.
