Chapter 275: The Scholar in White

Chapter 275: The Scholar in White

It was a scholar-looking man dressed in white who was stopped. He suddenly blushed at the sight of Sword One. Instead of staring at Gu Chaoyan and Sword One, he said timidly, “What is it... ladies?”

Sword One was confused.

It was the first time for her to meet a man who was even more bashful than a girl. For one second, she had no idea what to say. She turned to Gu Chaoyan for help.

Gu Chaoyan thought for a while and then asked carefully. “I am just wondering if anything has happened in the college today?”

The man in white nodded constantly. He even seemed quite excited. The excitement had driven his fear away. “The result of the calligraphy test is out today! Someone called Gu Chaoyan has written a great poem with excellent calligraphy. So everyone at Saint College found out about this person within a short period of time. It is the first time in my life to have read such magnificent writings. And that poem...” He looked like a total admirer.

Then he continued. “It would be worth all the while, if I can get to know her and learn something from her.”

“I believe that as long as I work hard enough, I will be able to be accepted by Saint College and get to meet her!” He looked ambitious.

Sword One’s lip-corners twitched, then she turned to her miss.

Elder Miss was standing right there. Hearing what the man in white said about her, she did not seem to show any reaction. Sword One wondered what this man was going to do, if he found out that the person he admired was standing right in front of him.

However, Miss did not seem to like to get herself involved with this kind of mess. So instead of saying anything more, Sword One thanked him and said, “Thank you, Young Master, we are going to check it out too.”

The man nodded bashfully. “You have to go and read Lady Chaoyan’s poem!”

Sword One answered briefly, then she left with Chaoyan.

On the way there, Sword One was in a good mood. She looked forward to reading her Miss’s poem. However, Gu Chaoyan did not seem that excited. She had believed that such a thing would happen. And what was the fun of reading her own writings anyway?

So she asked Sword One to read the poem herself, whilst she returned to the room for a break.

***

Days pa.s.sed, and the examination came to an end, but the murderer was not yet found and no clues had been discovered. Sword One worried about Gu Chaoyan, so she asked Sword Two to take turns guarding the door for Gu Chaoyan.

Gu Chaoyan almost never saw Liu Hanxiang in the last few days.

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approached the partic.i.p.ants were allowed to go home after the examination. After the festival, those who were accepted would be allowed to start their studies based on the schedule, and those who failed the examination would have no choice but to remain at home.

Gu Chaoyan had been accepted a long while ago, so she was not having a tough time these days.

She asked Sword One to pack up the stuff and returned home without too much luggage.

She ran into Li Yuanxiang at the door and the two took a walk together.

They were about to leave the yard when Gu Ruxue suddenly appeared and stopped Gu Chaoyan with a frown on the face. She looked disdainful and proud. “So you are still thinking about going home?”
