Qin Chu’s heart almost melted from how cute his wife was, and he couldn’t help but chuckle out loud.
Huo Mian: “What’s so funny? This isn’t the time to laugh at me!”
Qin Chu: “Honey, can you let me finish first? You need to relax.”
Huo Mian: “Go on, finish.”
Qin Chu: “Although he placed a bug in the study, I placed an anti-wiretapping device. So, Huo Siqian will only hear what we want him to hear. Don’t worry.”
Huo Mian: “Gosh, you scared me!”
Suddenly, Qin Chu grabbed Huo Mian by the arm and pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly by the waist.
Huo Mian: “What are you doing? Are you getting h.o.r.n.y or something?”
Qin Chu: “Mhm, I’ll always be h.o.r.n.y when I’m with you.”
Blus.h.i.+ng, Huo Mian buried her head into Qin Chu’s arms, enjoying the heat of his body and love.
Qin Chu: “I’m sorry, Mian. I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to eliminate Huo Siqian from our lives, and that you and our children are suffering because of that.”
Huo Mian: “What are you talking about? Honey, you’ve done great. Plus, Huo Siqian is mentally deranged, he’s not normal, which makes things more difficult for us. Don’t you remember saying that last time we lost not because we weren’t smart enough, but because we value human life and Huo Siqian doesn’t? He can treat people like trash, but we can’t.”
Qin Chu: “Mhm, I understand.”
Huo Mian: “So Honey, promise me that you won’t feel bad, alright?”
Qin Chu: “I promise.”
Huo Mian: “So beginning tomorrow, we need to pretend to fight.”
Qin Chu: “Right, and each fight has to be more serious than the last. Towards the end, we will have to pretend that we’re going to get divorced.”
Huo Mian: “Do we really need to get divorced?”
Qin Chu: “No, I refuse.”
Huo Mian: “Haha, it’s fine, it’s just for show. Once we get rid of him, we can get married again.”
Qin Chu: “No. Even if it’s fake, I never want to get divorced.”
Huo Mian knew that Qin Chu cared about this a lot. Therefore, she gave in.
“Okay, fine, I’ll listen to you.”
Qin Chu: “Mhm, you need to be careful of anyone who tries to approach you.”
Huo Mian nodded heavily. “Mhm, I will.”
Qin Chu finished reminiscing about his conversation with Huo Mian and turned around to face his empty bed. Although he knew it was all fake, Qin Chu still felt bad.
He looked down at his phone; it was almost 1 AM.
With a sigh, he opened the hidden drawer in his bedside table and took out a bottle of unmarked medicine. Then, he twisted open the cap, took out two white pills habitually, and took them with water.
By the time he had laid back down in bed and closed his eyes, his phone began to ring.
Qin Chu jumped up with antic.i.p.ation; he thought it was Huo Mian. Although he knew Huo Siqian was monitoring their phone calls and they wouldn’t be able to say anything too intimate, he still wanted to hear her voice, at the very least.
However, his eyes dimmed with disappointment when he saw the caller ID. He picked up his phone with a calm tone. “Ning-Ning?”
“Big Brother, were you asleep?”
“Not yet, what’s wrong?”
“Everything’s wrong! Why else would I call you at this hour? It’s not like I don’t know the time difference between here and China,” Qin Ning said stubbornly.
“Go on.”
“What’s going on with you and Mian? You guys got into a fight?” Qin Ning asked.
Upon hearing this question, Qin Chu felt helpless. “Little Bean told you?”
“Why does that matter anyway? Is it true or not?” Qin Ning demanded.
