2563 Huo Siqian’s Probe (3)
“Nothing,” Huo Mian put her hands in her white lab coat and looked down, her black-rimmed gla.s.ses covering her eyes. Liu Ze really didn’t know what she was thinking about.
“I saw the news.”
“So?” Huo Mian tilted her head at him.
“I wanted to console you, but after seeing you, I changed my mind.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re a strong woman, unlike those spoiled women with Princess Syndrome that whine about nothing.”
“You think too much of me, I’m just an ordinary person.”
“I trust my instincts,” Liu Ze replied.
“Stop pretending to be my friend, I don’t like that,” Huo Mian said, annoyed by the man standing in front of her.
“Then what do you like?” Liu Ze moved his face up to Huo Mian’s, closing the distance between them.
Huo Mian instinctively took a few steps back. She didn’t like to be in close proximity to anyone but Qin Chu, not to mention physical contact.
“Don’t be scared, I’m not going to eat you, haha,” Liu Ze laughed.
“You’re funny, Dr. Liu. I need to go back to work now.” Huo Mian turned around to leave, but Liu Ze suddenly said, “I’m curious about something.”
Huo Mian stopped but didn’t turn around, obviously waiting for him to finish his thought.
“Out of all our cla.s.smates, why would you help Wei Dong? Is he worth it? He’s uneducated and came from a family with new money, strutting around like he owns the place when he’s rich and living like a beggar when he’s poor. I would get it if you were nice to Han Xu; after all, he was the cla.s.s rep and pretty good looking. So I guess my question is, why are you always so annoyed with me, but willing to lend Wei Dong 5 million yuan without blinking an eye? Huo Mian, you’re a weird woman, I don’t understand you.”
“If anyone can understand me, then I wouldn’t be Huo Mian anymore. Why should you understand me anyways? I’m not money, not everyone’s going to like me. As for Wei Dong, how did you know? I’m sure he didn’t say anything. Second of all, if you want to know why I helped him, I’ll tell you. Wei Dong may like to flaunt, but he’s still a good guy. You, on the other hand, are nothing like him. You’re rotten from the inside out even if you are filthy rich. That’s why I stay away from you… I’m not an idiot.”
“Huo Mian, have I ever done anything to hurt you? Why would you say that I’m rotten from the inside out?” Liu Ze looked like he had just been wronged.
“I just never gave you a chance to hurt me. Liu Ze, I don’t know why you’re back in China, but my instincts tell me that you’ve been trying to get close to me for a reason. So please, stop pretending to be the victim here, and stop comparing yourself to Wei Dong. I was his cla.s.smate for three years, but you were in our cla.s.s for less than a semester. Truth be told, if Han Xu didn’t mention you to me multiple times, I really wouldn’t have remembered who you were.”
Then, Huo Mian turned around and walked away.
Liu Ze stood there, feeling bad. This wasn’t Huo Mian’s first time being so rude to him. He muttered to himself, “Ha, things are more complicated than I thought, she’s so hard to deal with.”
Almost everyone at South Side was talking about Zhang Manlin’s encounter with her husband last night. She wasn’t angry or sad, she just wondered if Huo Siqian would believe that their act was real.
At this thought, Huo Mian decided to add fire to the flame. Once she went back to her office, she updated her Weibo profile with a new status. In a brief sentence, she wrote –
