Chapter 4096: A Nightmare (16)
“Yes, Master, she woke up just now but was a little agitated. I got her to fall asleep again, but I took a look at her vitals and she’s anemic. I think she’ll need to rest for a bit longer,” the maid explained patiently.
“Did she say anything?”
“She wanted to go look for her friend.”
“Ha, what an idiot, how can she believe in something as useless as friends?”
“I think she was talking about the man Leila kidnapped, he was very good to Ms. Huo.”
“So what if he’s good to her? Men always have a goal behind their niceties. She’s still young, she doesn’t understand this.”
“You’re right, Master. Ms. Huo just needs to get used to everything that’s happened, we should give her some more time.”
“How’s her baby?”
“I did an ultrasound on her. His heart is beating healthily, he’s fine now. I knew he would be fine as soon as you helped.”
Lin Ya smiled. “Take good care of them, she’s almost due.”
“I will take good care of Ms. Huo.”
“What about the other girl?”
Messiah knew who Lin Ya was referring to. “Leila severely injured her… she has multiple fractures in her body and is still unconscious. Would you like to perform surgery on her, Master?”
“Not yet, put her in the freezer. I’ll let you know when I need her,” Lin Ya said as she played with the bird in her hand.
“Yes, Master.” Then, Messiah left.
Lin Ya muttered to herself with a creepy smile on her face. “That d.a.m.ned girl Leila… I wonder what she’ll do next… I guess we’ll find out.”
Qiao Fei and his men looked for Lu Yan for days, all over the forest in Yunnan. Yet, they failed to find her. Somewhere near the edge of the forest and the bamboo tower, they found the corpses of some of Lu Yan’s people, along with puddles of blood.
After Qiao Fei gathered the DNA samples, he quickly went back to the city so Qin Chu could get the samples tested. When the results came back, Qiao Fei’s face fell.
“President Qin, after multiple tests, we have concluded that these samples are from the same person.” The doctor handed Qin Chu a lock of a hair and a blood test.
Qiao Fei had given the doctor this lock of Lu Yan’s hair; he kept it in a small pouch and took it everywhere. He heard that this was an ancient custom in China – husbands and wives were tied together by a streak of hair, symbolizing their union.
The blood was collected from the forest in Yunnan, and the doctor just told them that it belonged to Lu Yan.
When Qiao Fei heard what the doctor said, he almost broke down.
This news took an emotional toll on Qin Chu as well… Huo Mian was still unconscious and her baby was gone. Lu Yan was missing, Su Yu was suffering from a concussion, and Huo Siqian blew up into a million pieces. How was he supposed to handle all this news?
“Did you double check?” Qin Chu reconfirmed.
“I did… we tested it three times and are sure it’s from the same person… it seems like whoever left the blood in the forest has been injured for at least 24 hours. If you haven’t found them yet, they might be dead by now…”
“Shut up! She’s not dead!” Qiao Fei howled, and the doctor quickly shut his mouth.
Qin Chu had never seen Qiao Fei so out of control. He waved his hand at the doctor. “You can leave now.”
Qiao Fei’s hand tightened around the blood test that was just handed to him. His voice came out as a tremble. “Chu, you know Yan’s not dead right? She’s not dead.”
