Chapter 304: Finding Out

Chapter 304: Finding Out

Lu Mingshu glanced over at Xie Lianzhen. She had a poker face but was laughing inside.

Even though he’s just acting, he looks just like a bully. “Call me Gentleman Xie,” so much like a common villain seen in books.

The drug men were all in doubt. They weren’t close to Xie Lianzhen, so who knew what he would do? Maybe he was doing this in order to please the Drug Lord.

n.o.body could tell, and n.o.body dared to say a word.

Seeing what the drug men looked like, Lu Mingshu heaved a sigh of relief.

Number Three and Four were Old Man Liao and the grandma. They both had winter-white hair, and their skin had been awfully destroyed by the long-term experimenting. It was so bad that their skin was extremely rough, and their features were nearly translucent. Number Seven, who was the one they called Old Monster, was almost bald. He had a crooked back that made him look like a shrimp. The uncle, who was Number Six, was as pale as a ghost, and even though he wasn’t the oldest, he couldn’t even stand straight. He seemed to have lost vision in one eye since he kept squinting. Number Two was in the best condition, except that he was pale and skinny, perhaps because he was the youngest among them all.

All the drug men had poker faces. Hearing Xie Lianzhen, anger could be seen from their eyes, but they were unable to express it on their faces.

Before meeting them in person, one might’ve thought that the Drug Lord was just little nuts, but not to the point of ruthlessness. Once one saw the drug men though, one would know how ruthless he was.

All the drug men were currently in the Harmonization Realm. If they didn’t have to go through this ordeal, even the grandma would be young and vigorous despite her age. She wouldn’t be so feeble and weak that she wasn’t even comparable to a normal old person without cultivation.

Despite what she was seeing, Lu Mingshu maintained a poker face. She stopped her work and walked toward Xie Lianzhen. “Gentleman Xie, the Drug Lord only instructed you to teach them properly, do you have to wave a chicken feather as an authority token?”

She sounded so sarcastic that everyone else was shocked. They heard that she was here for him, so why…?

In their confusion, they saw Lu Mingshu’s look, and they immediately understood.

“Of course… of course we can do it!” The uncle immediately nodded. “It’s just recognizing herbs, right? It isn’t that difficult.”

The rest nodded in agreement.

“That’s good.” Xie Lianzhen looked at Lu Mingshu, smiling happily. “Miss Lu, can you teach them how to recognize the herbs?”

Lu Mingshu snorted and turned to the others. “Come with me.”

He stared at her openly for a while before walking back to the study room slowly.

The Drug Lord should be in the same place he hides his treasure, and he can monitor us easily from there….

The five of them were martial artists, so they had a certain knowledge of herbs already. It only took Lu Mingshu a couple of days to teach them.

The Drug Lord came over to check, and he was more than happy with Xie Lianzhen. He’s really talented. It’s such a waste that he’s unwilling to be my disciple.

After the crash course, the Drug Lord no longer needed to do the odds and ends by himself. He only needed to give the command, just like what Xie Lianzhen said. The drug men could do most of the work, and for the more tedious stuff, Lu Mingshu would handle it. Even Xie Lianzhen could mix the medicine for him.

As time went by, the Drug Lord slowly handed authority over to them. After a few days pa.s.sed and he saw improvement in them, he even allowed them out to the herb field.

The experiment went smoothly and the Drug Lord was having a good time, he was more than happy.

When I am fully prepared, I’ll use the experiment on myself and breakthrough! When I do, I’ll show them the consequences of looking down on me!

Another night pa.s.sed.

Lu Mingshu felt dizzy all of a sudden and went into a dream.

“Mingshu, Mingshu.”

“You can call me Miss Lu,” she said.

Xie Lianzhen laughed. She’s imitating me.

“That’s for others. You can call yourself whatever you want,” he cooed. “Don’t be upset anymore.”

“…” Lu Mingshu was utterly speechless. Who’s being upset? I’m indeed imitating you, but for another purpose. I’m sure that you know that, but you decide to act like an idiot anyway.

“I’m not that good, so I can’t sustain this for long, so I’m just going to get to the point.”

I’m glad he knows that this is more important than flirting.

“I have instructed the five of them according to your information. Later on, they will take the chance of doing ch.o.r.es to scout out the places you mentioned.”

Lu Mingshu nodded. As long as she could get the data, the wizard would be able to alter half of the spell for her. Without the spell, their cultivations would no longer be limited. She could then block the Drug Lord’s information. Their mission would then be half completed. As for the other half…

“What about you? Do you have any information about his treasure?”

“Somehow.” Xie Lianzhen nodded, “I went into that place as an excuse to look for someone the previous day.”

“He allowed you to do so?” Lu Mingshu was surprised.

“Of course I snuck in. He even tore the place down because of this.” Xie Lianzhen chuckled.

“That explains the way he was acting the previous day,” Lu Mingshu mumbled.

Xie Lianzhen nodded. “The larger his reaction, the more important that thing is.”

“What did you see?”

“A water tank.”

“Water tank?” Lu Mingshu blinked her eyes. She had many guesses, but this wasn’t something she would have thought of.

“Yeah.” Xie Lianzhen furrowed his eyebrows. “Or a water mirror, to be exact. The tank is filled with water, and as if a mirror, it reflects its surroundings. There are weird runes carved into the tank, and he controls the tank with the runes.”

“And then?”

“He punched me, and I went flying.” Xie Lianzhen shrugged. “I didn’t get to see what happens next.”

“He punched you?” Lu Mingshu looked at him in shock. After a few seconds, she then realized that they were in a dream, so she obviously wouldn’t be able to see if he had any injuries.

Xie Lianzhen was pleasantly surprised by her reaction. “You’re worried for me?”

“…no.”

He smiled and continued, “Seeing you being worried for me, it’s worth it even if I die from his punch.”

Lu Mingshu sighed and remained silent. She recalled her first meeting with him, and it all felt unreal. How did that gentleman with outstanding looks turn into an idiot today?

“Please get to the point!”

“Okay, okay. Calm down.” He waved his hand. “That punch gave me an estimation of his ability.”

“Oh?” Lu Mingshu looked at him in antic.i.p.ation. “So how good is he? He’s a Spirit Realm after all….”

Xie Lianzhen laughed. “So what if he’s a Spirit Realm? What he has is only a t.i.tle. Without his treasures, we would win if we join hands.”

Regardless of anything else, Lu Mingshu trusted Xie Lianzhen’s judgement. “Our chance of succeeding should be big then.”

“Yeah, he’s now busy coming up with a way to strengthen his immunity. I believe that, soon, he’ll use the experiment on himself, and that’s when we will have a chance.”
