Princess Lyn: Fleeting Dreams

Chapter 308

Should she go over? If she doesn"t greet him, it would be far too strange. Still, uhh.. As Lyn racked her head over whether she ought to go, her eyes meet her brothers. He seemed surprised, but his gaze softened. Her eyes brightened, is he in a good mood? Lyn walked over immediately, "Eldest brother!"

Andrew hugged her lightly, "Are you enjoying yourself?"

"I hate these gatherings, brother; it"s boring."

He chuckled, "Indeed, there is nothing exciting about these things at all."

"Brother, you don"t like it too?"

"I don"t," Andrew trailed off. "Lyn, come with me for a moment."

Sensing his sudden seriousness, Lyn let"s go of him. Did something happen? Instead of asking, she simply nodded and followed her brother out of the ballroom. At first, she followed behind him.

"Lyn, I"ve already told you this before. But do not walk behind me like a dog."

"Oh, uh, okay."

Lyn casually hurried over to his side. "Big brother, say.."

"Hmm?" Her brother seemed to be in a hurry. So Lyn wasn"t sure whether or not she should ask right now.

"If um if Kazuya proposed to me, what do you think will happen?"

At that comment, Andrew turned to her. "Did you receive a marriage proposal?" his tone quickly changed into a serious one.

"Um," Lyn took out her hairpin and opened it in the center. Out slipped a small ring. "Kazuya gave me this."

Andrew examined it with a frown and sighed. "I"m glad you have enough sense not to wear it on your finger. But, wearing an item, an accessory given to you by another man is equally as bad."

Ah, he noticed. Lyn looked down, "I"m sorry, brother. But, I really like this."

"I see, well, Lyn, since we are on this topic. I shall tell you something. The matter of your marriage is very sensitive. Other than your current fiance, there are 3many more proposing marriage offers to you."

"Many?"

"Prince Zenith sent a proposal yesterday."

At that comment, Lyn looked at him, dumbfounded. But, Zenith didn"t mention anything like that. "Naturally, he would not tell you. To propose after what happened is certainly absurd. But, mother accepted."

"Then uh the other candidates?"

"There is one I"d rather not mention to you."

"One?" Lyn repeated.

"I shall discuss it when you return to the castle. This is one mother didn"t approve of, but somehow the elders were persuaded. Lyn, do not fear. I shall get rid of that one for you."

Lyn froze, immediately understanding what he meant. Is he, is he talking about… Her entire body shook. It can"t be, that man - he still hasn"t given up? But how come? Why is he so persistent? It"s not like she"s ever expressed any interest in him before.

"Lyn, I understand that you"re afraid. But, right now is not the time. Focus your attention to the person inside this room," Andrew stopped in front of a door at the end of the second floor.

Person? Is there somebody inside that her brother wants her to meet? Lyn hesitantly opened the door.

The last person she expected to see was Arthur of all people. But there he was, fast asleep and … "He"s terribly wounded.."

"Ah? This," Lyn looked at her brother, confused. Brother should know who this is, right?

"I found him when I was on patrol just now. In the forest," Andrew clenched his fist. From his expression, it was clear that brother still had problems. "Lyn, treat him quickly and send him away. Before I put on my robes as the son of the current Queen."

Lyn immediately understood what her brother meant. Her brother nodded, "I shall leave. But I"ll be nearby, call if you need me."

Judging from brother"s tone, he was reluctant to leave her alone with Arthur. But, "even brother doesn"t want to spill blood now." With that exchange, her brother left the room.

She glanced down at the bed. She reached over and caressed his hair. Come to think of it; he looked like this when she first met him too. His appearance was so scruffy, and during recovery, he looked like an old man to her. But once he started recovering, Lyn saw his youthful appearance.

Strangely, they are meeting so soon after all that has happened. Lyn didn"t think she would meet him again. She was starting to lose hope, even though Rhys confirmed Arthur was alive. Lyn was filled with doubts and uncertainties.

"Lyn…?"

"Yes, it"s Lyn."

"Lyn," Arthur smiled. "Yeah, that"s the one I"m doing this all for now...Rather than finding that person, I"d rather see her again. That promise…"

Lyn"s eyes widened in shock. Is this person a fool? But, he really hasn"t changed at all.

…..

"Lyn?" A confused voice appeared from behind her.

Lyn, who was changing the water and brewing some medical herbs, turned around. "Arthur! Don"t get up yet; you"d still hurt…"

"Lyn, you"ve grown up, huh?"

"Well of course I have. Ah, stay put, don"t move around so much," she made sure Arthur was sitting down before she returned to the desk. It"s a good thing Rhys made her carry around this stuff with her. It comes in handy.

"Where am I?" Arthur asked.

"Uh, mansion... There"s a party."

"Party?"

"You pa.s.sed out in the forest."

What a coincidence that they were around, though. If they weren"t, then what would Arthur have done? Bled until his death? Be found by people who want his head. Lyn noticed him frantically looking around and pointed to the table. "Your belongings are there."

A relieved sigh escaped Arthur"s lips.

"Uh," Lyn nodded awkwardly. She can"t possibly reveal that it was her brother who brought him here.

"If he is here, tell him I want to meet him."

"But," Lyn hesitated. "You"re injured, if you and brother were to fight now I"d…"

Arthur laughed; he reached over and caressed her cheek. "Don"t worry about it, I"ve found it. Something to prove my innocence."

"Really?"

"Yeah, so go fetch your brother. I will wait here."

Lyn didn"t want to stop her treatment, though. "Wait, I"ll just send a message," she pulled out her messenger crystal.

It didn"t take long before she hears a knock on the door. "Come in," Lyn said, and her brother entered the room. An angry look appeared on his face. He clearly wasn"t pleased.

"Lyn, I told you…"

"I"m sorry, but.."

Arthur rummaged through the pouch, "Do not worry. You"ll calm down in three seconds if you see this," he took something out — a beautiful green jade.

It only took a few seconds.

"You"re innocent."

Eh?

Arthur smiled, "It took me a while. But yeah, I"m glad you can tell right away."

Her brother sighed, "My apologies. I misunderstood. But it did not help how your soldier"s statements didn"t match."

A knock on the door interrupted them, and in came Allen. Ah.

"I came to fetch Lyn, apologies. Some guests would like to meet with you."

Lyn nodded, "That"s fine," she glanced over at Arthur and her brother. It looks like these two are holding back their words, so she might as well take a rain check and leave.

"Lyn, your shoes are damaged," Allen commented.

Ah? Lyn looked down at her feet, indeed to see the sole of her shoe was bent. When did that happen? "Sit down. I"ll send someone to fetch you new shoes."

Lyn nodded. "Your wearing nail polish?" Allen pointed out.

"Ah, yes, does it suit me?"

"It does."

Andrew coughed, "I see you two are getting along. But do not forget our presence. "

Big brother!!

"This?" Allen asked, looking over at Arthur.

"This is one of our new council members. I shall introduce you officially at a later date."

At that comment, Lyn looked startled; even Arthur seemed surprised. Big brother doesn"t change at all.
