Chapter 1921: Tantrums
Sandhya was dumbfounded when the clan leader said this.
The rest of the young masters didn"t have any less reaction. They were infuriated and felt insulted.
"What do you mean by that clan leader? Are you implying that all the powers are eyeing your city now? You shouldn"t forget that all the powers gathered to fight the disasters."
Sandhya"s voice is filled with dissatisfaction.
Sam chuckled at her righteous anger. He looked at the Clan leader and said.
"Just close your eyes for a minute."
The clan leader ignored Sandhya"s words and closed his eyes. His posture is very subservient to the point that even though he is a couple of inches tall than Sam, his head is at Sam"s shoulder level.
Sam tapped the clan leader"s forehead and transferred the required information to activate the winged mountains" defense. The clan leader was surprised by all that information. He immediately bowed down in extreme grat.i.tude and said.
"Sir Sam, you will be our clan"s benefactor for all the generations to come. If you, your descendants or any people related to you ever visit this planet again, they will be treated as a guest of higher stature than the clan leader forever."
Sam was amused by such a declaration.
"Don"t you think you are making a promise beyond your means? How can you ensure that the generations that come after a few thousand years after you will honor this promise?"
"Unlike many people we learned from our mistakes Sir Sam. After the incidents that triggered the wrath of the G.o.ds, our clan leader at that time pa.s.sed down a strict const.i.tution so that our clan and the citizens will not incur another loss like that.
No matter what any of the planet members think, I wholeheartedly believe whatever is happening right now is something we have to pay for. And you are paying it instead of us.
I can only imagine how much wrath you will incur from these G.o.ds. The least I can do is to ensure that you are honored when you are at my home no matter how many generations have pa.s.sed."
Sam nodded with that smile and said.
"Sure, if you say so. Anyway, I highly doubt I will come back to this place once again. But yeah, if someone related to me comes to this planet, they will have a token with this symbol on it. Or they would have a recorded message or a written message of mine with them.
Don"t be deceived and serve someone based on mistaken ident.i.ty."
Sam said as he threw a metal piece to the clan leader while walking away. The metal piece is precisely his symbol. The intertwined double "S".
He jumped high into the sky and landed on harbinger. He was followed by his beasts can left to the mountain.
Sandhya gritted her teeth at his nonchalance. She could see that the other young masters and other clans" members are all looking at the clan leader of Winged city with a cold look.
They are all angry.
Sam did give them the formations, but those formations didn"t really have much of the offensive abilities. For the first three disasters, Sam just dealt with the disasters by himself. He didn"t rely too much on formations.
The formations only stayed as defensive methods as well and could be used to do some counters against the attacks. But apart from that, they don"t serve any other purpose. But the formation of Winged City is different. The Winged Mountain attack is way too lethal and powerful.
They felt like this is unfair, particularly the people that belonged to the three clans Sam saved before.
These young masters and elders all swarmed Sandhya with a bunch of questions and requests.
They can"t do their dance around Sam, but they can smother this woman who is basically the communication bridge between Sam and then.
Sandhya felt like she is being drowned in a sea of questions.
She could only push through and break free of their bombardment before she escaped them and came back to the mountain.
As soon as she arrived, she ran to her mother.
"Where is that guy?"
"Sam?" Priestess asked in puzzlement.
"Yes, where is he? How can he be such a jerk. What kind of person leaves someone else behind to clean up after his miss."
"What happened? Relax a little and talk to me."
Sandhya sighed and explained everything to Priestess.
She thought that her mother would understand where she is coming from, but to her surprise all she got was a laugh. Priestess didn"t even bother to explain herself further and just continued on with her work.
"Why are you laughing? He just disturbed the whole balance of the power structure. The only reason there are not as many wars in our planet between clans is that everyone has same level of attack and defense, except for our Mountain Temple."
"There is nothing to disturb, you are overthinking things. I can understand why the clan leader asked for it and I can see Sam giving it away because he was giving everything he made away. But I don"t see why you have to lose your mind over it."
"The young masters of the other areas are on my tail. They are asking me to be the mediator so that they could be equally "reimbursed" just like Winged City. I need to talk to Sam about this."
"He is in the back of the mountain area. But I suggest you don"t disturb him. He seemed to be in the middle of calculating something."
"To h.e.l.l with it. When my peace disturbed, I don"t care about the peace of the perpetrator."
Sandhya ran away and soon found out Sam.
"Why are you here?"
Sam asked directly.
"About the formation. The rest of the cities are dissatisfied."
"And?"
"You can either take back the winged formation from the Winged City or you might have to give more to the remaining cities.
The balance is off here."
"You sound like I only have two options."
Sandhya didn"t know what to say. Before she could reply, Sam continued.
"I pick the third option. Tell them to f.u.c.k off. They take what I give and I give what I like. No questions asked, no answers given."
Sandhya gritted her teeth in anger as she pointed at Sam before heaving a sigh. She really wanted to scold him but she felt like with her mother"s bias, she would get her a.s.s kicked.
She looked around and saw that there are a bunch of weird markings on all over the rocks.
"What the h.e.l.l are you doing? Why are you filling all of my mountains with these weird markings? You are destroying the landscape."
Sam looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Don"t worry, I will fix it before I leave. They are not markings, they are calculations."
"What are you calculating? Why would you need these kinds of weird markings to calculate something?"
"You wouldn"t understand even if I explain these markings to you. Just leave me alone for now."
"Who are you to ask me to leave? This mountain is mine."
Sandhya acted stubbornly. She just wanted to annoy Sam at this point.
Sam looked at her for a couple of seconds without saying anything. The next second he took off on harbinger and disappeared. He landed at a much more solitary place and started doing his calculations once again.
Sandhya didn"t want to give up. She hurriedly ran to her mother and demanded.
"I don"t know where he is, take me to him."
"Why?"
"I need to make him buckle at least one thing. Ever since he came, I am nothing more than a courier between him and the remaining people. I can"t even make him answer a few questions in my own home when he was the one who is a guest here.
I want to make him answer and you are going to help me."
Priestess chuckled over her daughter"s obsession. After some thought, she nodded and said.
"Okay, let"s go. I will support you."
"Really?" Sandhya was shocked. It is almost impossible to believe her mother"s words.
"Of course, I can"t let my daughter be bullied like this."
For some reason, Priestess who is usually rational, accompanied Sandhya with her insanity.
They arrived at the area where Sam is in a few minutes.
Sam looked at Sandhya and Priestess and sighed.
He stood there without speaking and waited for them to speak.
"h.e.l.lo Sam, I heard that you are researching something interesting. Care to share it with me and Sandhya."
"It is a bit boring and it would be hard for me to explain these calculations. These symbols are not exactly the knowledge of your world. They are from my homeland."
"Don"t need to go into detail. Just some basics would do.
I am also intrigued by what stumped a guy that could build such monumental defenses in a matter of days.
