Chapter 662: Pen Spirit, Ghostly Shadow

“Aunt, why are you…” Jiang Xue, who had been about to dissuade her stubborn aunt, saw this terrifying scene, and her words came to a screeching halt.

She instantly shrieked, and her eyes almost popped out. The blood drained from her face, her body trembled as if someone had cast a spell on her, and her teeth chattered.

The ghostly shadow seemed to notice their gazes, and it turned its head. Half of its face was rotten, and only a strange bluish-white eyeball remained. It lunged at the two of them with a sinister smile on its b.l.o.o.d.y mouth. Jiang Xue was so scared that she p.i.s.sed her pants, her eyes rolled up, and she fainted.

The moment Jiang Xue fainted, the ghostly shadow that was about to pounce on her suddenly burned as if it was on fire. Its figure writhed in pain. It twisted its head and looked at Chen Meilin venomously with its hideous, rotting face.

It turned out that it was the panicked and deathly pale Chen Meilin. She didn’t know where she got the courage from, but she directly threw the talisman that had been on her daughter’s forehead at the ghostly shadow. Sure enough, the ghostly shadow quickly fled toward the window in extreme pain.

Chen Meilin waited for the ghostly shadow to leave before her legs immediately turned to jelly and she sat on the floor. Her eyes and mind were blank as she gasped for breath, as if she had just survived a calamity.

When she finally came back to her senses, her first thought was that there really were ghosts in this world. Had her daughter really provoked such a thing?

Chen Meilin shuddered in fright at the thought of the ghostly shadow just now. With trembling hands, she tugged at the hem of her daughter’s clothes. When she saw the deep marks on her daughter’s stomach, she was even more terrified when she thought about how her daughter might be torn open by the sharp rattan chair leg if she let that ghost linger for a few more days.

Chen Meilin looked at the sharp, deep, purple puncture marks on her daughter’s body; they were focused on her daughter’s internal organs, and almost formed a circle, as if this layer could be directly lifted off in one go

But there wasn’t even a need to go through all that trouble; her daughter’s stomach could just be torn open from the middle! Chen Meilin shuddered at the thought of that sharp chair leg sinking inch by inch into her daughter’s stomach.

Thinking this, she suddenly came to a realization. It was no wonder that her daughter was clearly unconscious, but her body would convulse from time to time. She was being tortured by ghosts and couldn’t stand the pain, but everyone thought it was a seizure. Chen Meilin even had a servant hold her daughter down.

She was suddenly alarmed. Thinking of the rattan chair on the balcony, she suppressed her fear and yanked open the curtain. Instantly, the empty rattan chair s.h.i.+fted, as if something was sitting on it.

“Madam, what’s wrong?” Auntie Qian, who was downstairs in the Meng residence, had jumped in fright when she heard a woman’s scream. She realized that it was from the second floor and hurriedly ran upstairs. As soon as she pushed the door open, she found Miss Jiang Xue lying unconscious on the floor.

Auntie Qian gave Chen Meilin a scare, and she trembled and covered her mouth as she staggered and almost fell to the floor. Auntie Qian was a little stumped and puzzled. She hurriedly went forward to help Chen Meilin up, but the latter shook her hand off.

Aunt Qian followed Chen Meilin’s fixed stare to the quiet atmosphere and the unmoving deck chair outside, and was even more puzzled. “Madam, what’s wrong? Why did Miss Jiang Xue faint? The floor is so cold!”

“Did you see that rattan chair move just now?” Chen Meilin’s teeth chattered as she grabbed Auntie Qian when the latter walked over.
