Chapter 231: Undercurrents Part 1
[AN: Bonus Chapter 5/7]
A few hours later, a middle aged woman walked into the rest area. She looked around the room and yelled out: "Who is Kana, Pelia, Mina, and Yori? Step forward and line up!"
Kana and the other two girls quickly lined up side by side in front of the middle aged woman. The middle aged woman looked at the four girls nodding her head. "My name is Captain Fos. I will be your squad captain. From this moment on, you will be part of the Draco Unit. People under my command are not allowed to be cowards. You will be sent to the battlefield, and your job will be to kill and to kill as many as you can. If I find out that any of you girls are running away from the enemy instead of standing your ground, I will kill you myself! This war has been going on for thousands of years. The battlefield is stained with the blood of your ancestors who had fought valiantly to the death, making sure the enemy does not cross that line.
"Now, if you wish to request time off, you will need at least ten thousand points of prestige. So I hope you all will work hard. As you four have come in at the same time, you will be put into a small unit to work together. So it is good to see you four getting along. Alright, grab your gear, let"s head out. We do not have much time to get back. When we reach the battlefield, you will find a plot of land to set up your tent and then find out your s.h.i.+ft. All s.h.i.+fts are fifteen hours. So make sure you rest well in your off time." Captain Fos explained.
The four girls looked at each other and grinned. They were happy that they would be together even when they were on the battlefield.
As Kana was heading to the battlefield inside the dungeon, Kiliffia was working her hardest trying to catch up to Kana as quickly as she can. But under the eyes of everyone without anyone knowing in an inn just over the border of what used to be the Botus Empire. Two people were quietly meeting in the corner of the inn while having a meal.
The candle lights of the inn flickered softly as a man in a black cloak lifted his mug full of ale and took a sip. "How many men do you have?"
"Right now, we have over five hundred thousand. We are still getting new people signing up every day. We already have many training facilities dug out underground. We should have a Tunnel dug out to the Theocracy by this time next year. It will connect every training ground. All entrances are covered in illusion magic as well as highly guarded with mind reading checks to make sure no one is a spy. But I must say, where did you people get those magi devices that read minds?" The man sitting across from the man in the black coat asked. He was wearing a grey cloak over his head to obscure his face.
"That is none of your concern. Your job is to build an army and get them trained. If everything goes as it should, we shall see the fall of the Rural Kingdom and the day when we humans fully rule this continent." The man in black robes replied.
"I hope to see that day. That traitor who was made the dummy ruler under the command of those filthy beasts has marched into every city and town no matter how big or small and set free all the filthy beasts letting them live like humans. How are they even compared to a human!? All the males are good for is heavily labor while the females are good for relieving stress. To think they wish to rule over us humans!" The man in the grey robe sneered. He was highly upset with the changes in the empire once the Rural Kingdom annexed them.
"Keep your voice down! At any rate, we will not move until this time next year based on whether she is around or not. So keep building the army. I want to see a few million men by the time we attack." The black robed man said before standing up. "I will be off. Send a message if you need more supplies."
"I will..." The man in grey robes nodded his head and downed his drink before standing up. He dropped a few coins on the table before walking out of the inn himself. Once he was outside, he looked up at the night sky to see the stars overhead flickering. He let out a breath to see a puff of white steam exit as he did. "The nights are getting colder…."
The Realm of G.o.ds…
"Yuthia, what do you think?" Sei asked as she watched the two men on the screen.
"With the things that Theocracy is planning, I think Kana"s kingdom may be in a pinch. Not just them but also my future aunty… Should I talk to uncle? Maybe I can give my future Aunty a blessing… That will boost her stats now instead of over a long period of time..." Yuthia knew if Kana did not return soon that things may get out of hand. But the weird thing was that ever since she disappeared from the black tower, they had not been able to track her down. It was as if she had disappeared from the universe altogether.
"That might be best. You go ask while I keep an eye on the situation. I am still trying to track down Kana." Sei replied. In front of her was not just one water screen but multiple. One was watching the pope. Another was watching Kiliffia. A third one was going between different worlds. And the last one was switching between the people the Pope had sent out to investigate the situation. Ever since the last incident, they had been keeping a better eye on things that were happening in the Rural Kingdom.
"Alright, I will go ask..." Yuthia pouted. She hated talking to her uncle. He always looked at her weirdly.
