Chapter 542: The Trial Of The Ghost Empress Part 1
"Are you sure? Once you enter, your soul can not return until you have taken the throne." The old man looked at Angelica with worry in his eyes. He knew if something happened to her precious daughter that Kana would probably lose her mind again, which would completely break her. The only way to fix her at that time would be to wipe her mind completely. He did not want to resort to such a thing no matter what.
"I am very sure. This is a chance I can not pa.s.s up. To gain strength and become something that is only weaker than my mother and yourself is not something I can pa.s.s up. Even if I fail and my soul is destroyed, at least I tried to do what only one before me was able to do. But..." Angelica smiled as her soul stepped out of her body. But her body did not fall. Instead, it stood there with her lips curled up into a mocking smile. "Who said all of my soul needed to go into the realm of the dead? There is no rule saying that one hundred percent of your soul must enter that place. While I will need at least ninety percent of my soul to go there, the other ten percent can stay behind, allowing me to keep my life if the other part of my soul is destroyed.
"Old man, when you stopped by before, I said that part of my soul was far beneath the cave in a hidden library, right? I have long mastered the art of soul splitting. This ability can be said to be my biggest weakness and also my greatest defense. No matter what, as long as a shred of my soul remains, it can always be regained through years of healing, and then I can also rebuild the body I once had.
"My control of souls is much different than that of which you have seen before since it stems from an ancient text from Aurora itself. How this person was able to gain such an ancient text is beyond me, but while to most, it did not make much sense, but for me, who has worked with strengthening my soul and wanting complete control over it, it was more precious than any kind of heavenly treasure.
"The insights I gained from one single page of text were enough to allow me to get to where I am today." Angelica"s body went to sit down and continued reading the book in her hand while her soul stepped forward. She bowed her head and said: "I am ready when you are."
"Haha… Hahahaha! This girl! You are really something." The old man couldn"t help but laugh. He now understood that Kana"s family was not normal. Whether it is the little girl who has attacks that can harm him or this little girl in front of him who can control her soul to the point that she was almost on par with the ghost empress, each one of them was very unique. He wondered what the little black haired girl would be able to do in the near future as she slowly finds the path she wished to follow to gain power. He thought for a moment and wondered if she could even a.s.sist her a little. After a few seconds of thought, he decided he would see what he could do at a later time.
"That is what a lot of people tell me. After all, to follow my path, I am even willing to kill a person who loved me and who I held some feelings for with no regrets. You could say my soul is already dead. I am already basically a ghost." Angelica grinned. She even stretched her arms as if feeling more comfortable in her ghost form than in her body. In fact, she did feel more comfortable. While in her ghost form, she felt more free from the binds of her body. If it was not for the fact that her body was created by her mother, she would have ditched it long ago. Because even in her soul form, she was able to continue growing stronger without any issue as her system was not bound to the body but her soul itself.
"Then I will not ask anymore. As long as your entire soul does not get fully destroyed and your body is still alive, if you fail, I will bring your weakened body to be with your mother." The old man would not leave Angelica by herself if such a thing happened. He would return her to her mother so she could still follow her mother on her path to greatness.
"I should thank you then. Now, if you would send me to the realm of the dead, I would very much appreciate it." Angelica wanted to start as soon as possible so things would not drag on for too long. She wanted to allow her mother to gain even greater strength. This way, they could meet faster.
"Then, please enter the portal." The old man waved his hand. A ghostly door appeared that seemed to have souls flowing around the opening, and inside was a bluish-grey pool of swirling liquid of some kind.
Angelica nodded before walking forward without any hesitation and stepped through the gate. As her body vanished, so did the door. The old man still had a worried look on his face as he knew just how hard the realm of the dead was for a mortal. If she did not have the right mindset, she would end up defying a good portion of her soul and not be able to complete the task he needed of her. This was on top of what Kana would do.
Tian could read the old man"s thoughts and shook his head. "You worry too much. If you really wished to know the outcome, you could just check it for yourself."
"I do not wish to know since you know that not even knowing the future means anything as it can change at any time. Why else do you think I created life? It was in order to make something that was unpredictable to even me." The old man explained with a wry smile. "I think I made them too unpredictable..."
"Haha! That is true. You can go ahead. I will wait here and guard her body alongside, Camlia." Tian said with a smile.
"Then I will leave it to you. I want to go visit the last daughter and give her a gift." After saying these words, he disappeared, leaving the three people behind.
Camlia looked at Tian and then at Angelica, who was still reading without a worry in the world, and frowned slightly as she walked over and grabbed a book off the bookshelf, found a spot to sit, and started reading it. She decided to ignore everyone since they were keeping her out of the loop. In other words she was pouting.
