Chapter 78: A New Home Part One
The next morning at the castle gates. "Tilia, send us a message if you need us or if you want to meet up. We are now sisters, so if you feel lonely, just call on us." Ceilie said as she hugged Tilia.
"Mmm… Take care of yourself. If anyone tries to do anything mean to you, come tell me right away, and I will roast them." Kana said as she also gave Tilia a hug.
"You two, be careful. Make sure you stay safe. I hope the oncoming war will stay at the borders and not reach a place where you will need to fight. I will contact you when I have a free day off." Tilia knew from this moment on that she would no longer have any free days until the war was over. Even she may have to go to the front lines and use her healing spells to heal the injured soldiers. War was not something one could run from if it was knocking at your front door. Once it started, there would not be an end until one side gave up.
Ceilie sighed because she knew it would be a long time until they could meet again. She patted Tilia"s head and said goodbye while taking Kana"s hand and pulling her along. Kana waved her hand and yelled goodbye as she got into the carriage that was waiting for them. They were now being brought to their new residence, where they would be living from now on.
The carriage was s.p.a.cious and pulled by two scaled horses. Unlike the wagons, they had ridden when making their way to the capital. This carriage ride was smooth. They could hardly feel the b.u.mps as they made their way down the road. Kana pulled the curtain back and rested her arms on the windowsill as she looked out the window at the scenery pa.s.sing by. The sky was clear, and the sun was s.h.i.+ning brightly.
A warm breeze blew across Kana"s face making her bangs flutter. She was taking in as much as possible. Her new life was something she had always dreamed about. She was going to live in a house with a warm bed. She was going to be able to go to school. These thoughts alone brought tears to her eyes as she thought about it. These were not tears of sadness but tears of happiness. She was no longer the poor little girl who had to sleep on the cold streets. She no longer needed to dig through the trash to find even a sc.r.a.p of food to put something into her stomach. She also no longer needed to hide from bad people or get beaten for stealing something to eat.
Her struggles were over, and this new life was her new beginning. She hoped to see as many new places as possible and meet many more people. She also wanted to do many new things and forge her own path in life. Kana let out a sigh and wiped her eyes. "Ceilie, whatever we do from here on out, let"s make sure our life is filled with no regrets. Before I die, I want to accomplish everything I wish to accomplish."
"Mmm! Let"s live a life of no regrets!" Ceilie liked this idea. They had so much time ahead of them to do as they wished. She would accomplish all her goals, and if she still has many years ahead of her after accomplis.h.i.+ng everything, she would set more goals.
The carriage pulled up to a large gate. The stone walls the gate was connected to were made of a s.h.i.+ny stone that glittered in the sun. Two guards stood in front of the gate and bowed as the carriage pulled up. They quickly opened the gates and allowed the carriage to pa.s.s through. What laid in front of them was a long road lined with white stone. On the sides were well-trimmed shrubs and past these shrubs was a green lawn with trees spotted here and there. As they made their way down the road, a large mansion came into view. It was made of red brick and had white columns holding up the overhang to the front entrance. In front of it was a large fountain situated right in the middle of the roundabout.
The carriage pulled up, and Kana and Ceilie were met with a line of maids lined up outside the mansion waiting for their arrival. They climbed down from the carriage and stood there looking at the grand welcome, somewhat stunned. They both did not expect to have a bunch of maids waiting for them.
"This?" Kana looked around in surprise.
An older woman walked up who wore a maid"s uniform and a pair of gla.s.ses on her face and bowed to Kana and Ceilie. "Miss Kana, Miss Ceilie, welcome to your new home. My name is Jansil, and I am the head maid. Myself and the maids behind me are all here to take care of your daily needs, from cleaning the house to cooking. We are at your service."
"Then we will be in your care, Jansil. As well as the rest of you. We will be counting on you from now…. Kana, what are you doing!?" Ceilie suddenly yelled out.
"Ceilie, look, they are huge! I think she is hiding some melons in her s.h.i.+rt!" Kana had already run forward and was grabbing one of the maid"s b.r.e.a.s.t.s. She was from the Cow race and was naturally endowed. When Kana saw them, she completely a.s.sumed they were fake and decided to find out.
"Miss Kana, please don"t do that!"
