Chapter 2.1: Shangguan Ling

Chapter 2.1: Shangguan Ling

The interior of the carriage was wide and cavernous. After entering, Tang Qing looked around and saw mystic runes and patterns drawn on the interior walls. It was a formation—one used to reduce b.u.mpiness.

“Hey, what’s your name?”

Inside the carriage, Shangguan looked at Tang Qing with ravenous eyes hinting a touch of curiosity.

After his reply, she said, “So your name is Tang Qing? How do you know the Spirit Beast Controlling Technique?”

In her mind, beast tamers and their art techniques were a rare thing in the ways of life. Very few knew of its existence. Even those from the big sects knew far too little.

Tang Qing leaned against the wall, head hung down casually. He felt weak and fatigued and all he wanted was a good night’s sleep.

“Can you teach me?” Shangguan Ling’s eyes flashed a sense of deep curiosity regarding the matter of beast taming. “Of course, it goes to say that I won’t learn it for nothing. What is it you want? I can give you spirit stones, however much you like! You’ll live a good life in the future and would never need to worry. How about it? What do you say?”

Tang Qing closed his eyes as if he hadn’t heard a single word.

“How about magic treasures? You’ve roamed around the world, no? So you should have heard of magical equipment, right? It’s very precious! Cultivators may not necessarily find themselves a piece of magical equipment in their lifetime. How about it?”

In order to let Tang Qing teach her the Spirit Beast Controlling Technique, Shangguan Ling enticed him with all she could muster, but… the fellow before her remained unmoved.

He laid there, back leaned against the wall, completely ignoring her presence.

“Hey! Say something!”

Tang Qing opened his eyes lazily. “Miss, I only have little understanding of the Spirit Beast Controlling Technique. I don’t know how to teach people. How can I teach you?”

“If you don’t want to teach me then just say so! What’s so good about it anyway?!” Shangguan Ling curled her lips into a frown and whispered, “Tang Qing, I don’t know what you’re thinking but to use a beast taming technique, it’s quite rare.”

She did not give up. Coughing twice, she beamed a kind, gentle smile.

“Tang Qing, as a cultivator, it would be tiring exploring the Jianghu, right? Since you know the Spirit Beast Controlling Technique, why don’t you become my coachman in the future, alright? You just need to look after my horse! How about it?”

Seeing Tang Qing did not answer, she gained bravado and continued.

“If you’re willing, I’ll give you as many spirit stones as you like on a monthly basis. If you perform well, I’ll even give you miraculous pills and medicines. And if you’re willing to bear hardships, I’m more than willing to help out. I know many experts, many of them masters of a sect. Snow Mountain Sect? Green Jade Sect? East Flower Sect? You can choose whichever sect you deem fit. How about it? Are you satisfied now?”

In her eyes, if any other ordinary person had been offered such tempting conditions, they’d agree without hesitation. Whether it was the Snow Mountain Sect or East Flower Sect, each one of them was listed as a first-tier sect in the region. The ordinary folks squeezed their brains out to become disciples of these sects, but their requirements were extremely strict. The chances of being accepted were nigh impossible.

Shangguan Ling looked forward to seeing Tang Qing’s pleasant reaction, but she quickly discovered there were no trace of emotions on his face other than exhaustion.

“I’m sorry, but I’m not interested!”

He only wished to find a comfortable place and sleep peacefully. As for other matters, he was too lazy to bother with them.
