Chapter 2.2: Shangguan Ling
Seeing the fellow close his eyes and outright ignoring her presence, Shangguan Ling grew irked.
d.a.m.ned swindler, I begged and pleaded out of the kindness of my heart, yet you continue to reject me time and time again. I saw you treat my horse and here I thought you were kind enough to give me a chance, but you actually weren’t interested? I even offered to help boost your cultivation!
Hmmph! d.a.m.ned swindler!
Just because you know a little beast taming techniques, you think so highly of yourself?
Hmmph!
Shangguan Ling wrinkled her nose and glared fiercely at Tang Qing who was dozing off. Then, a trace of cunning craftiness flashed across her beautiful eyes.
Softly, she muttered, “d.a.m.n swindler, none of the people that I’ve taken a fancy to have ever escaped. Just you wait and see… sooner or later, I’ll have you teach me obediently!”
Without another word, she lifted the curtain and stood outside the carriage. Rushing the horse, she began singing a melodious song. After finishing the song, she called out Tang Qing’s name twice but there was no response from the inside, she opened the curtain and found him sound asleep.
Not wanting to disturb him, she moved about quietly and laughed complacently. “So he’s just a beginner who knows nothing of how sinister the human heart is. Oh! While this fellow is sleeping, I should take the chance and bring him to Big Sister Mo’s place. When the time comes… hehe… see if you’ll teach me or not…”
The more she thought about it, the more pleased she was of herself and the faster she rushed the speed of her horse.
… … …
Legend has it that Rogue Immortals were an existence cursed by the very heavens itself. The Ninth Heaven did not want them and the Ninth Netherworld turned its back on them, so they could only roam the plains forever in endless darkness waiting for the heavenly tribulation to come one after another ‘till they turned to dust.
Some say the heavenly tribulation of a Rogue Immortal was not a tribulation, but rather a type of judgement.
Tang Qing experienced nine heavenly tribulations!
He knew each stage of tribulation that came for a Rogue Immortal was more powerful than the last, especially the third, sixth, and ninth heavenly tribulation.
The third heavenly tribulation was referred to as the Earth Punishment Tribulation, implying that if one wanted to roam freely, they’ll have to undergo earth’s heavenly tribulation.
The sixth heavenly tribulation was heaven’s punishment, the Heavenly Punishment Tribulation. To wander under the heavens, they’d have to face the wrath and judgement of the heavens.
The ninth heavenly tribulation, it was the Life and Death tribulation. Many never pa.s.sed this stage. They died.
And though the Earth Punishment and Heavenly Punishment Tribulation caused Tang Qing to be in a dismal state causing his body suffer heavy bouts of injuries, he never expected the ninth heavenly tribulation to be so… terrorizing. His cultivation was lost and his body now riddled with holes, the corporeal body now damaged and weakened to such extent.
Since his cave-dwelling home was destroyed, so be it. Closed door cultivation was no longer on his mind. Even if the cave wasn’t destroyed, he’d choose not to enter closed door cultivation again.
Tang Qing had enough. Going through those needless cycles again, he’d go mad, insane, and break apart.
Thus, this time, he told himself that he needed change his way of life. As for how he’d go about it, he had no idea nor any plans.
He could only take a step forward.
