When Hue Chi approached Yu Sha, he scooped her off the ground and took her by surprise. Startled at his action, she shrieks while her natural instinct automatically caused her to wrap her arms around his neck to steady herself.Feeling Yu Sha"s physical touch speeds up Hue Chi"s heartbeat, making him pause his steps while he freezes in place as if time had stood still to focus only on them. He gazed deeply into her eyes while his mind recalls the countless times of that woman who always wraps her arms around his neck while she gazes at him endearingly.
He was not the only one whose heart beat at the familiar feeling and setting. She, too, felt the same way making her to lose track of what is happening. Her heart pounds in response to his mind, her mind searched for where and when this deja vu setting happened in the past. Where were her memories when it happened? She gazes deeply at him looking for answers. Without knowing, her left hand slowly moved to his face. She gently touched his left cheeks and trails her fingers to his lips like a blinded person studying the facial features of the person she loves so she would never forget him. Her eyes furrowed and lips pouted slightly. She inhaled a small breath before mumbling, "Have we met before?" Her eyes expressed so much sadness and pain with the question making Hue Chi speechless.
Just then a phone rings loudly, disrupting the two couple, waking them up from what seems like a trance. Yu Sha looked at her hand bag on the kitchen table as the noise seemed to come from that direction. She immediately put her arms on top of Hue Chi"s arms in attempts to free herself. Hue Chi slowly loosens his arms and gently let her down on the ground.
Yu Sha stumbled to the table and reached for her phone in her bag. She hurriedly looked at the screen and saw "Grammy" appeared on the screen.
Her eyes widened, why grandma would call her suddenly. Grandma rarely calls unless there is something urgent, but grandma is going home soon. Could it have anything to do with it? She quickly answered the phone, "h.e.l.lo, Grammy?"
A hoa.r.s.e voice spoke on the other line, "Yu Sha dear, how are you?"
"Hi Grammy, I"m all right. Do you need something?"
"Will you be able to come home?" Yu Sha"s grandmother asked.
"Mm... I planned to."
"Then, see you in a few weeks."
Yu Sha smiled and replied, "Okay. See you."
"Oh.. where are you right now? Are you alone?" Her grandmother probed.
Yu Sha paused how to explain her situation. She does not want to fully disclose her situation to her grandmother. "Um... Yeah. I"m with a friend."
"I"m a.s.suming it"s not Su Na?"
With a guilty expression on her face, she replied softly, "Mm.. No."
"Someone I don"t know? Someone you met over there?"
"Mm.. You can say that." She replied hesitantly.
"A man, I a.s.sumed?"
Shocked and couldn"t decide whether to reject or accept the question, her hesitation gave the answer away.
"Does your father know?"
Dread, grandmother has the wrong interpretation because she hesitated. "No, no, it"s not like that Grammy."
"Ok, if for some reasons, you feel unwell, call me."
Yu Sha furrowed her brows confused why Grammy said something so odd but she answered anyways, "Okay. Understand."
She hung up the phone feeling that her grandmother is acting a little weird. She looked at the phone pondering and then she lifts her head up to notice Hue Chi was still standing at the same place looking at her oddly.
"Is something the matter?" She asked him.
What? Did she already forgot what she just asked me earlier? Hue Chi was dumbfounded at her behaviors. "Do you remember what you asked me earlier?"
"What did I say?" Yu Sha asked innocently.
Hue Chi felt even more shocked although he doesn"t express it. Was she pretending? Or does she have memory issues?
Back in Lyon at Happy House Bar, Mong Zong was prepping before the bar opens. As he was sorting the gla.s.s cups on the shelve underneath the counter, his phone rings interrupting him. He pulled the phone to his ears, "Mother?"
"Mong Zong, the 6th gate is already broken. It"s only a matter of time before the last gate comes undone. You should prepare to let her grow."
The instant his mother gave him the news, the gla.s.ses cup in Mong Zong"s hand shattered into tiny pieces. His heart jolted and face expressionless. "She hasn"t even been gone that long, how is it possible that all 6 gates are broken? There is no way that it happens naturally all by itself with no external force."
"I"ll go visit her tonight while she sleeps. Remember, she will eventually come to know the truth. Sometimes the sooner she knows the sooner this will come to pa.s.s."
A complicated helpless expression flashed through his eyes, he remembers an experience when he rushed to his adorable daughter"s bed in the dead of the night when she was 5 years old. She was gasping for airs, crying and temporarily lost her eyesight as an after effect from a dream. A dream that damaged her enough to lose her eyesight. That was just one of the many sleepless nights he experienced. As a parent, it was h.e.l.l seeing his cute daughter suffers at such a young age. But that time when she lost her eyesight was the last straw when he decided to seek help from his mother. And soon, they came to a conclusion after weighing the risks and benefit, they sealed her dreams away.
Yu Sha, all I wanted for you is to be free, free of whatever that is haunting you, chaining you down even to your current life. In this life, you are my daughter and I will do anything to protect you. I hope that you were able to live freely even if it"s just for a brief moment.
