Searching For You

Chapter 37

In the middle of the night, everyone had already gone to bed, some people were already in dreamland while the couples are still up. Mua Kong gently placed his hands on Hli Ja"s belly showing a conflicted bittersweet expression. After some unspoken silence, Hli Ja asked softly, "How long will you be gone for this time?"

In the VIP room on the second floor, Hue Chi was startled and his heart started beating faster, as what he just saw is almost a mirror of a dream he just had recently. The gla.s.s cup on his hand slipped out as he tried sat the cup down on the table causing a bang noise. Everyone in the room turned to stare at him.

He tried to clear his throat, "Ahem.. sorry, my hand just slipped a little as I wasn"t paying attention." He tried to act calm but his heart is beating faster by the minute. He observed the play intently as he predicted in his mind what was coming next.

On stage, Mua Kong pulled Hli Ja closer to him, kissed her head and softly whispered, "I"m not sure, a big war had broken out in the south. I"m providing reinforcement troops. Hopefully it is not too long."

With each actions and dialogues in the play, the temperature in Prince Hue Chi"s body rose up a number. He was feeling nervous and anxious. He reached for a cold gla.s.s of water on his table and took a drink hoping the ice cold water would cool down his body temperature.

Back on the stage, Hli Ja had ready repositioned herself to face Mua Kong. With her arms wrapped around his neck, her eyes filled with so much emotion and love, she whispered, "Why do I love you so much."

With those that part, Prince Hue Chi was closed to losing himself. If his dream repeat in this play... But where did the fire came from? Would he learned something about his dream from the play? Could he solved the mysteries to the dreams he had? Yet at the same time he also tried to reasons with himself to keep him calm... but how could there be such coincidence? His mind debate back and forth as he continued to watch intently. He was already starting to sweat and shake a little. However, the scene ended with no fire burning everywhere. He thought to himself, there is no fire and tried to relax mentally as the play continues.

Back on stage, Mua Kong had left for war. Hli Ja"s morning sickness has gotten better as she entered the third trimester. She wanted to go visit her Grandma"s grave to tell Grandma about the news of baby coming before her belly becomes too big for long trip. Chue Yi, two guards and two maids accompany Hli Ja to visit her Grandma"s gravesite that would take several days.

When they pa.s.sed through the first city, Hli Ja witnessed a little boy being beaten with a large stick. He just laid on the ground silently while an older woman landed multiple hit on his body. The boy looked lifeless, the wilts was bleeding through his ragged torn clothes.

Hli Ja yelled for the servants to stop the carriage. She rushed out and ran to cover the little boy. She pulled him onto her arms. At the same time, Chue Yi slashed the stick into pieces. The older woman was startled at what happened. After realizing what had just happened, she screamed at them, "Who are you people? Let that brat go. I have to teach him a lesson!"

Hli Ja at this point was feeling furious, she glared at the older woman and shouted coldly, "No matter what a child has done wrong, they don"t deserve to be punished to this extent!"

The older woman was taken aback by the response and aura Hli Ja emitted off, she backed off a little and replied stuttering her words, "This... this... is not related to you people at all. Don"t meddle in others affairs!"

After a.s.sessing the situation and deducing that the little boy is probably not the birth child of the woman, Hli Ja asked, "Did you give birth to him?" while glaring at the older woman.

The woman took a step back feeling pressured, she avoided Hli Ja"s glared and muttered, "No."

"Then what right do you have as a person not related to him to beat him to this extent?"

The two guards and maids where so awed at their madam highness. They have never see her this angry before, never seen her lose her composure, and this time it was to save a child. They have been very lucky to serve her. She has been kind to them, she has never belittle them, threatened them, or bribed them. She treated them as human who have pride and integrity. They would follow her to the end of the earth even if she does not asked them to.

Hli Ja signaled for one of the guards to carry the boy into the carriage. Chue Yi threw a money pouch on the ground by the older woman"s feet. "Today onward, he became one of our own people. Hopefully this will be enough to compensate for what he had done."
