Chapter 592: The Cores of the Array
“Oh no, this is terrible! If the kings find out, they will skin me alive and pull out my tendons! Why is my life so unfortunate?” The skinny man’s tears started flowing freely again, like a pipe that had burst open.
“It’s fine, they won’t know,” the young man scoffed, glancing at him disdainfully.
“Really? Oh, that’s great news, Young Master, I’m so relieved!” The skinny man exclaimed happily, crying tears of joy instead.
“Let’s go. We can talk more after we get back.” The young man glanced in the direction of Ling Chuxi and the others briefly, then started walkingforward.
“Oh yes, Young Master, what did the things you said earlier mean?” The huge man suddenly asked curiously.
“What? I didn’t say anything! You must have heard wrongly.” The young man flushed and started walking faster. ‘Those two couldn’t have overheard me, right? It can’t be!’
“Heard wrongly? I don’t think so. I clearly heard Young Master mentioning something about a pill and touching b.u.t.t…” The man trailed off doubtfully.
“I said you heard wrongly!” The young man bellowed in panic, his face turning even redder.
“But-” The large man wanted to continue but was pinched hard by the skinny young man. “Shut up, you idiot! You heard wrongly, and that’s that!”
The big man shut his mouth, his expression miserable. “How could I have heard it wrongly? It was so clear…”
The young man glared at the huge man, then rushed ahead as if he was escaping. The huge man looked lost, and the skinny man scowled at him angrily.
…
At dawn, the sunlight shone brightly on chirping birds and blooming flowers, painting a vibrant scene in the forest.
A wild hare hopped over to the side of the fire pit, wiggling its rump and staring at the uninvited guests provokingly.
Ling Chuxi was dumbfounded. Last night, when she used the Mind Training Chant, she couldn’t find wild game at all, and yet, all of them had emerged now. How odd! Even Mo Kongyuan was shocked, his eyes so wide that he looked like he had just seen a ghost.
It was a pity that they were in a rush; Mo Kongyuan could only glare daggers at the cheeky wild hare as they rushed off towards Little Silver Ancient Mountain.
The more they walked into the depths of the Silver Ancient Mountain Range, the more hilly and challenging the path became. At times, there were practically no paths at all. There were many cliffs, but after they made a few turns, they found a way out. The monster beasts hidden in the mountains were also a lot stronger as they went on, and the Level 8 monster beasts that died at their hands along the way amounted to eight or ten.
It was no wonder that Ling Chuxi had never heard of Little Silver Ancient Mountain, such a path could only be found by people with cultivation like theirs. Anybody else might have been killed by the dangerous cliffs or the Level 8 monster beasts.
Around ten days later, the group finally arrived at their destination.
“This is Little Silver Ancient Mountain?” Ling Chuxi asked doubtfully as she eyed the unimpressive mountain peaks before her.
“No, this is where one of the cores of the Eight Gate Array is. If the monster beasts really escaped from Little Silver Ancient Mountain, then there is surely a problem with one of the array cores,” Mo Kongyuan explained seriously.
Only then did Ling Chuxi notice that there were seven other similar mountain peaks, and within the eight peaks was something that looked like an undulating sea of clouds and mist. Ling Chuxi focused her gaze on that area, and only then did she vaguely see a tall, mirage-like peak. This presumably was the true Little Silver Ancient Mountain.
