Sons Of High Society

Chapter 47

Yin Shou left the house and drove to Xue Teegan"s house.

She opened the door, wearing her tightly fitted nightgown that hugged every curve of her body generously. It made his throat dry.

She let him in, though she didn"t expect him to visit her when the night settled.

"Sorry for showing up randomly," he said. Yin Shou felt embarra.s.sed. Were they on that level where he can visit her anytime he wanted? Did she even want to see him?

"It"s not a problem," she responded, closing the door shut behind her.

Yin Shou walked into the house further. "Where"s Liena?" he asked, curious. He wanted to greet her.

"Ah, she just left. Long Bolin took her to some restaurant. It"s a new hot spot in the city, apparently, so she left with him."

Yin Shou"s mouth opened. He could not believe that Long Bolin was getting good at his game for a newbie in the dating scene.

Yin Shou still needed to learn how to capture one"s heart. He never courted women for longer than a week. But with Xue Teegan, he often visited her and took her to small spots for the last couple of months. He felt like as if this was all new to him, too, since he never had anything that lasted long.

"Is it okay if I stay?" Yin Shou asked.

Xue Teegan smiled. "Why don"t we go out and have some fun?" she suggested. Yin Shou felt some part of him burst in joy. He then nodded, and Xue Teegan went to grab a light cardigan to place over her nightgown.

What Yin Shou liked about Xue Teegan was that she didn"t care about her looks. She wore what clothes she wanted; Xue Teegan wears light or heavy makeup depending on her mood. But Regardless, in any state, she was beautiful.

Yin Shou drove them where she wanted to go, which was at a Haunted House that had different rooms and levels staged by actors to give customers a thrilling and terrifying experience. Yin Shou thought it was a perfect opportunity to have her tugged by his side.

When they arrived, Xue Teegan"s face beamed, and Yin Shou began to feel uneasy. The house was old and rickety, nearly falling apart. Someone greeted them at the entrance, requesting them to sign waivers.

As they went in, they travelled through the halls like a maze. They could not antic.i.p.ate what would walk or crawl through the corners, but all Yin Shou knew was that he was the one holding her hand as she led them through each level.

Most times, she was smiling broadly at every exciting turn, but to him, it was mortifying. In the end, Yin Shou had to control his dizziness while Xue Teegan remained smiling, enjoying herself. Though he felt sick, he was glad that she was having a good time.

"Have you ever been here before?" he asked.

Xue Teegan shook her head. "No. But people have been raving about it on Weibo, and I wanted to check it out." It stunned him. She wasn"t even slightly terrified.

As they strolled around the area, Xue Teegan caught sight of a sweets Truck selling toffee apples, egg tarts, and red bean buns.

"Do you want anything?" he asked.

Xue Teegan"s eyes sparkled. "Mhm. I want a few egg tarts," she said.

Yin Shou took some cash out of his pocket and approached the food truck. He requested some egg tarts while Xue Teegan waited for him at a nearby bench.

Xue Teegan watched the back of Yin Shou as he waited in line like any other ordinary person waiting to pick up some treats for her. It caused her to smile. As the line moved, she heard someone call her name. But it wasn"t Yin Shou"s voice.

She turned to find a man that she almost recognized, but couldn"t quite pinpoint how she knew him or what his name was.

"You seem confused. Was our night together not memorable?" he asked.

Xue Teegan gritted her teeth after realizing it was someone she hooked up with long ago. She stood up, walking towards Yin Shou when the man blocked her. He grasped her waist and said, "You haven"t called me back. I wanted to get to know you better."

Xue Teegan wriggled out of his grip. "I didn"t call you back because I had a s.h.i.+tty time. Now leave me alone," she said. She began to walk away when he gripped her arm, pulling her towards him. "What did you say, b.i.t.c.h?" Xue Teegan spat at his face, using her elbows to remove his grip.

Yin Shou then returned with a container of egg tarts. Realizing what was going on, he ran and pushed the man off her. The man staggered back, looking at Yin Shou"s appearance. Judging by the way he dressed, the man knew Yin Shou was wealthy for how neat and expensive his clothes were. "Is she your girlfriend?" he asked. "You should know that she"s a s.l.u.t!"

Yin Shou knitted his brows, clenching his fists. "If a man can sleep with many women, that makes it acceptable for society. But if a woman sleeps with many men, it makes her a s.l.u.t? I would be careful about what you say, at least she"s not a persistent man who can"t take a hint or a simple "no,"" he said.

The man then punched Yin Shou across the face, causing him to stagger slightly. Yin Shou gritted his teeth, fighting the urge to punch back. He used to get in trouble for getting into fights, and he didn"t want to lose his cool in front of Xue Teegan. So he straightened his body, setting his jaw carefully, and walked with away with Xue Teegan. The man kept saying some taunts behind them, but Yin Shou ignored him.

In the car, Yin Shou gave Xue Teegan the egg tarts; he then started the engine when Xue Teegan said, "Wait. Turn it off."

Yin Shou obeyed and then faced her.

"I"m sorry," she said with a slight quiver in her voice.

Yin Shou looked at her steadily. "Why are you, sorry?"

She turned to face him; her eyes began to brim with tears. "You didn"t have to defend me; what he said was true."

Yin Shou furrowed his brows. "He was hara.s.sing you, and like I would let him have his hands on you."

Xue Teegan smiled grimly. "He hit you in the face."

Yin Shou released a breath. "I don"t care," he said. "I"ve had worse hits."

Xue Teegan chuckled. "I"m sure you did," she said, remembering his past. Yin Shou smiled.

Xue Teegan leaned closer to him, enveloping her arms around his chest, embracing him. "Shou," she said.

"Mhm?" he responded.

Xue Teegan looked up to face him with doe eyes. "Thank you," she said.
