“I’m just visiting my son! How is that considered running around?”

Su Qianci was incredulous and retorted, “Furthermore, there’s still one month to go between now and October! The fetus will probably be stabilized by then!”

Li Sicheng glanced at her and replied, “We’ll see when the time comes.”

Su Qianci was infuriated. She pushed the pile of doc.u.ments over and exclaimed, “You can work on your own!”

Li Sicheng was speechless.

He put the doc.u.ment in his hand down, stood up, and walked over to his wife.

Su Qianci was seated by the window with her back facing him.

She saw his reflection in the gla.s.s, but she just looked on. She didn’t bother to respond.

Li Sicheng walked over and embraced her from behind. In a low voice, he asked, “Are you angry?”

Su Qianci didn’t say a word. She closed her eyes and leaned back on the couch.

Li Sicheng looked down at her and quickly made his way around the couch. He sat beside her and gently cajoled, “Please don’t be angry. It’s almost time to get off work. Let’s go out for dinner.”

“I’m not going out for dinner with you,” Su Qianci said with her eyes closed. “My daughter is waiting for me at home.”

“She’s my daughter too,” he said. “Come on and get up. Let’s go back to have dinner with our daughter.”

As Li Sicheng spoke, he gently rested his hand on Su Qianci’s shoulder.

Su Qianci opened her eyes and looked doubtfully at the mountainous pile of doc.u.ments stacked on his office desk. “Can you go home yet? Are you done with your work?” she asked.

“It’s just a minor matter,” Li Sicheng said.

“How is that minor?” she asked. “The project proposal and quotation from England are still awaiting your decision! You haven’t seen it, have you?”

As Su Qianci spoke, she stood up and walked to her desk.

She flipped through the doc.u.ments and soon found what she was looking for.

She rummaged through to retrieve yet another doc.u.ment and exclaimed, “You haven’t attended to it yet!”

Li Sicheng made his way over He took the doc.u.ments from her hand and placed them on the table. He said, “It’s just a minor matter. Let’s go.”

“No, finish this first,” Su Qianci said. “We’ll leave after you’re done with this.”

“I’ll do it tomorrow,” Li Sicheng replied.

“No!” Su Qianci was extremely adamant.

Li Sicheng had no choice but to reply, “Alright, give me a moment.”

“OK.”

Su Qianci answered in the affirmative and proceeded to open her laptop computer. She began searching for toys that little girls favored.

Li Sicheng was an individual who was good at everything.

If he chose to do something, he’d put his whole heart and soul into it.

More than an hour pa.s.sed by. When Su Qianci checked the time, it was already past 6 p.m.

She was snacking while she surfed the net. It wasn’t tedious at all.

When Li Sicheng was done with his work, he had his secretary come in to tidy the office up and left for home.

Su Qianci had found a few pretty dresses online. She showed the picture to Li Sicheng. “Do you think this is pretty?” she asked.

Li Sicheng glanced at it and nodded his head. “Your taste is pretty good, but you’ll have to prepare some extra girl’s clothes.”

“Why do we need so many?” she asked. “Ersu isn’t going to be able to wear them all. It’ll be such a waste to just leave them hanging in the closet.”

“I’m talking about preparing clothes for the infant,” Li Sicheng said. “Aren’t you pregnant with our little daughter?”

“Tsk! How do you know it’s a daughter? What if it’s a son?” Su Qianci asked.

“It’s a daughter,” Li Sicheng replied. “Look, we have two sons but only one daughter. Therefore, this child is definitely a girl.”

Li Sicheng’s illogical reasoning made Su Qianci laugh. She replied, “How does that even make sense? I think it has to be a son.”

“I don’t want a son! If we get another boy, we’ll have three sons!” Li Sicheng’s brows knitted together in consternation. “How are we going to bring them up? It was so hard for my parents when they had to bring up my brothers and me!”

What was he to do if the three boys ganged up together to bully his only daughter?
