Chapter 81
Best Dead, Lest Be A Hindrance (1)

At this point, Gu Yu Sheng had already tried and failed to tie his necktie quite a number of times. When he heard the housekeeper’s words, Gu Yu Sheng suddenly recalled the conversation she and the housekeeper had exchanged just moments ago in the sunroom upstairs. His hand flinched, once again messing up his necktie, which he had, after a lot of difficulty, been on the verge of successfully tying.

The housekeeper was behind Gu Yu Sheng and couldn’t see his expression. Seeing that he was silent, she asked again, “Or, do you want to wait a while for Miss to finish memorising her script, and then eat together with her?

Before the housekeeper finished saying the last word, Gu Yu Sheng suddenly tore off his tie, violently threw it onto the staircase railing, and irritably roared, “Eat? What eat?! Who would want to eat with her?!”

The housekeeper was so scared she immediately mentally zipped her mouth, breathing heavily but not daring to say a word.

“From now on don’t let her appear when I’m eating at the dining table! Makes me irritated just seeing her! Also, you’d better stop mentioning her in front of me, hearing it is just as annoying!” Gu Yu Sheng turned his head and glared fiercely at the housekeeper, scaring the housekeeper to the point that her entire body started shaking. Following that, with a sullen expression on his handsome face, he headed straight for the front door with large strides, changed his shoes, and without leaving behind a single word, furiously pulled open the door and walked out.

When he closed the door, he slammed it particularly hard, causing the door to make a deafening bang and the gla.s.s in the connecting windows to lightly shake and rattle from the impact.

……

In the sunroom upstairs, Qin Zhi Ai had heard every single one of his words loud and clear.

Her hand suddenly gripped harder onto the script it was holding. She already hadn’t slept that well because she had had to stay all night on the rattan chair, and now her face had turned even paler.

It wasn’t until the engine sound of Gu Yu Sheng’s car faded from the courtyard, that Qin Zhi Ai lightly blinked and returned to her senses. She then discovered too late, that because she had been holding onto the script too tightly, the veins on her hand were bulging and her body was trembling very badly.

She had to put in lot of effort before she finally recovered her calm and composure. But, at the corner of her lowered eyes reading the script, a single tear escaped and gradually came rolling down.

Qin Zhi Ai ate breakfast and took a nap to make up for her lost sleep.

After lunchtime, she sat in front of the dressing table and reapplied the simple makeup she had put on in the morning. She then changed into a long white skirt and went downstairs.

Every so often, Liang Dou Kou would partic.i.p.ate in socialite gatherings.

According to Zhou Jing, Liang Dou Kou was also the one who first started up those gatherings.

Even though it was called a socialite gathering, it was essentially a get-together of a few girls from rich families, and although it looked like a leisurely afternoon tea party it was in fact place for them to flaunt their wealth and compete with each other.

Qin Zhi Ai didn’t fit into that sort of social scene at all. But, she couldn’t just skip every gathering and not partic.i.p.ate in even a single one during the time Liang Dou Kou was away treating her cancer. Hence, in regular intervals, whenever it was suitable, Zhou Jing would make Qin Zhi Ai show her face.
