Chapter 230: First Place
“Student Yao Tang, Princ.i.p.al Kong has asked to see you in his office. He said that it’s really important.”
The teacher smiled as she relayed the information.
“I got it.”
Nodding, Yao Tang headed up the staircase. On the way, she could see a few students glancing and staring in her direction, but none of them dared to approach her.
..
!!
When she reached the princ.i.p.al’s office, Princ.i.p.al Kong immediately waved her over.
“Ah, just the student I wanted to see, how have you been doing recently?” he asked smoothly, smiling at the young woman. “Are you getting along with your cla.s.smates?”
At this moment, he couldn’t help but feel lucky to know that Yao Tang was a student of No. 1 High School.
She was definitely the best they got.
Once the college entrance examination was over, everyone would know of Yao Tang’s greatness and excellence. They would all know her to be the best student of No. 1 High School.
The more he thought about it, the more his smile depend.
“It’s going okay.”
Yao Tang shrugged, casually sitting on the sofa. She picked up a book on the table and immediately started to flip through it.
“Why don’t I get you some water?”
Princ.i.p.al Kong stood up and poured her a gla.s.s.
“What do you want?” She raised her eyebrows.
There must be something that he wanted, right?
Otherwise, why would he have called her over? There was a moment of silence before Princ.i.p.al Kong sighed, rolling his eyes. There really was no getting around her bluntness.
“No. 1 High School will be hosting this year’s math compet.i.tion. All schools will be partic.i.p.ating, and from what I’ve heard, the first prize is a huge sum of money. While I’m not allowed to disclose the details, I can tell you that this is a compet.i.tion worth partic.i.p.ating in.”
Princ.i.p.al Kong sighed. “However, as we will be hosting the compet.i.tion, it is only expected that we will hold first place in the compet.i.tion. Otherwise, we’d be the laughing stock of the city.”
His lips twitched as he rubbed his forehead.
No. 1 High School was the one who had prepared and sponsored the prices. To see them be taken away by other winners…wouldn’t that be disgraceful to him as the princ.i.p.al?
“Hm.”
Yao Tang seemed to be interested as she crossed her arms over her chest. However, she didn’t say a word as if she was waiting for him to spit it out.
Closing his eyes, he sighed. “Look, you’re free to name your conditions. I just want you to get No. 1 High School first place in the Olympiad Math Compet.i.tion. Is that doable?”
“You got a deal.”
Her lips finally twitched into a smile. “I do have three conditions. Firstly, I need a pa.s.s to directly enter and exit the campus. I shouldn’t be restricted by the guards and am free to roam wherever I want.”
Yao Tang had always wanted to have her personal access card. However, she never really had the chance to meet with Princ.i.p.al Kong, so she couldn’t tell him about it.
Now that she was able to name her conditions, she naturally made this small request.
For Princ.i.p.al Kong, that was easy to achieve.
“Also, in the name of the school, I’d like Lin Xin to receive a scholarship. Her family isn’t as financially stable as many other students here, so this will help her greatly. The scholarship money can be deducted from the winnings.”
“As for the third… I guess I’ll think about it.”
Yao Tang grinned.
Princ.i.p.al Kong nodded reluctantly, knowing that he had no other choice. “Fine.”
The last thing he needed was for other students to get first place. Plus, he wasn’t all that confident of the other students in No. 1 High School, even those in Cla.s.s 1. However, being a witness to Yao Tang’s excellence, he was confident that they’d be able to win this round.
She was the best contender out there.
It was also a good thing that her second request was out for the greater good.
That, he could easily agree with.
“As long as you get the first place, you can ask for anything you want.” Princ.i.p.al Kong nodded. “Three or ten requests? I’ll handle it.”
“Then, you shouldn’t worry about this anymore.”
Yao Tang finally leaned back against her seat and nodded.
