Chapter 249: Where’s My Obedient Granddaughter?
“It’s You!”
Yao Ran’s eyes widened in recognition.
Wasn’t this the same girl they had met in the cafeteria? Meng Yang had cheated both of them to spend a few thousand yuan on everyone’s lunches.
Yu Shu’s smile widened.
It seemed that Cheng Wei was right and this girl really did hate Yao Tang. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have extended a hand the last time they met.
!!
The three of them shared looks as they all sat down. “Waiter, do you mind bringing me three cups of cappuccinos?” Cheng Wei smirked. “It seems that we have much to discuss.”
..
Many discussions had taken place that day, and when they finally said their goodbyes, they separated and wished each other good luck.
Later in the day, Yao Ran, Yao Yuan, and Qin Man found themselves standing in the airport waiting area. They were huddled together, excitedly peering into the hallway.
The plane from Shanghai had finally landed, and before long, they finally saw a familiar old lady in her sixties. She was being supported by an a.s.sistant.
Yao Yuan hurriedly stepped forward and supported her other arm. “Mom, you’re back!” he said in surprise. “I thought you had a great time in Shanghai!”
The old lady was Yao Yuan’s biological mother. However, when the old woman divorced her husband, she moved straight to Shanghai and lived out her best life.
She had stayed there for more than ten years. It only recently did they receive an update on her return to City A. Why she did it—no one knew.
“why? You don’t want me to come back?” The old lady snorted.
“Of course, I like you to live here! I’m just afraid that your body wouldn’t be able to take the flight. How have you been doing recently?”
Yao Yuan quickly explained.
“Think I couldn’t take it? As if you know how I feel!” The old lady rolled her eyes. “You don’t have to explain yourself. I already know how you feel.”
Just then, Yao Ran took a step forward, smiling at her grandmother.
The Yao Matriarch took one look at Yao Ran and turned away with a noncommittal “hm”. However, upon seeing only the blank s.p.a.ce, she scowled.
“Now, where’s my good granddaughter? Why didn’t she come over?”
As soon as she finished speaking, their expressions changed.
Yao Ran trembled. Her chest squeezed, and she found that she couldn’t breathe. It felt like her throat was being closed off, and she shivered.
Her grandmother wouldn’t even look at her. It was obvious that she was searching for someone else—her biological daughter Yao Tang.
She was merely just an inconvenience.
“You must be joking, right?” Qin Man interrupted with a strained smile. “Your obedient granddaughter is standing right in front of you. In fact, Ranranhad told me how much she had wanted you to stay with us for the time being. Right, Ranran?”
Yao Ran bit her lips. “Yes,” she said brightly, trying to hide the tremble in her words. “I’m happy to see you, Grandma.”
However, the old lady didn’t even bother to look at her. Instead, she slammed the crutch in her hands onto the ground, surprising everyone in her surroundings.
“I’m talking about my biological daughter,” she emphasized. “Yao Tang, not this Ranran you were speaking of. I don’t even know her!”
It was like a knife being pierced straight into Yao Ran’s heart.
The Yao matriarch hadn’t always liked her as much in the past, but it was only today did she turn against her. She wouldn’t even grant her mercy!
Yao Ran stood where she was, feeling as if she was being stabbed repeatedly. At this point, all she wanted to do was to return to her room and hide from this horrible woman.
Yao Yaun and Qin Man shared embarra.s.sed looks, unsure of what to do.
No one expected that the Yao Matriarch would be looking for Yao Tang. She didn’t even want to look in Yao Ran’s direction. Wasn’t this a bit much?
Seeing Yao Ran’s hurt expression, Qin Man could feel her chest squeezing in pain. The smile on her face was long gone as she clenched her fists. “Mother, aren’t you being a bit too harsh?” she snapped. “Ranranhad come all this way to pick you up, and you treat her like this?”
