Chapter 383: Questioning Her Legitimacy
Old Madam Yao was the one who had spoken for the entire duration of the meal. Yang Nianwould reply, and the topic would switch up again. Even Qin Man, who had wanted to speak up for her daughter, couldn’t.
Even after the meal, the rest of them remained silent.
As Yang Nian bid farewell to the Yao Family, Qin Manand Yao Yuanhad no other chance to speak up.
After their guest and Yao Tang had finally been sent away, Qin Manturned around to scowl at her mother-in-law.
“What are you thinking? We have invited the Yao Family over for one reason, and all you’ve done is wasted our opportunity by getting involved.”
!!
“Qin Man!” Yao Yuan snapped harshly.
The older woman immediately quieted down.
He was just about to say something when he noticed Yao Ran sitting behind him. With a sigh, he rubbed his forehead. “Ranran, why don’t you and Aunt w.a.n.gpay the bill first? Do you have your wallet?”
“Yes. I’ll go and settle it first.”
Yao Ran naturally knew that Yao Yuandidn’t want her to listen to the rest of their conversation.
With a nod, she strode out of the room.
Yao Yuan waited for a couple of seconds, gazing at the door of the private room. Once he was certain that she was out of sight, he turned to look at his mother.
“Mom, don’t interfere anymore,” he started. “We already know what to do.”
“Know what to do?” She snorted, rolling her eyes. “You’re giving Tangtang’s future to Yao Ran. Is that what you meant by you ‘knowing what to do?”
“What are you talking about?” Qin Man furrowed her eyebrows. “This isn’t Yao Tang’s marriage. In fact, this agreement already has been decided between both the Yao and the Yang Families. What does it have to do with her?”
Grandma Yao turned to look at her son. “So, all this time… you were planning on prioritizing Yao Ran over your own daughter?”
“He’s arranged to marry Yao Ran.”
“But…”
However, before she could say anything, she glanced at Qin Man and quieted down. There was really nothing else she could say. She shook her head.
However, upon noticing the old woman’s gaze on her, she couldn’t help but feel the anger rising in her heart. Her fingers dug deeper into her palm.
Her eyes flashed. “What are you hiding from me?”
Yao Yuan frowned. “What are you talking about?”
Grandma Yao, however, simply gazed at Qin Man indifferently. She said nothing in reply.
“You know very well what I’m talking about?” Her lips curled into a cool smile as her eyes flashed with resentment. Her chest heaved up and down. “Do you want me to think I’m simply imagining these things?”
Knowing what she was trying to say, Yao Yuan banged his fists onto the table. “Qin Man, how many times do you want me to tell you?” he snapped. “Yao Tangis our daughter, and she’s no one else’s.”
“Then why did she look so much like that b*tch then? Do you think you can explain that to me?”
She gritted her teeth, her eyes shining with unshed tears.
“Tell me!”
When she had first heard that her daughter lived in the countryside for more than ten years, she was guilty. She remembered crying herself to sleep that night with her hands clutching her pillow.
However, from the moment she had seen Yao Tang, all she felt was disgust and resentment.
With that face…she couldn’t call her, her own daughter!
Yao Yaun breathed in. Dealing with her felt like he was dealing with a four-year-old. “What I’m trying to say—”
“Stop talking!”
Old Madam Yao finally had enough, slamming her crutch hard against the tiled floors. “If you don’t believe that she’s still your daughter, then I’ll escort you to take a DNA test. I don’t care how many times you want it or where you want to do it. I’ll even accompany you! What do you say to that?”
