Jin Xingdong had consulted Professor Fang Yu about Lu Jia’er’s situation.

After listening to Jin Xiangdong through the phone, Professor Fang said. “The things that you propose are possible. There is a type of amnesia—posthypnotic amnesia in hypnotherapy. The hypnotist could then induce the hypnotized person to do something that she would never do normally when she was conscious. After the hypnotized person is awake, she would not realise that she has been hypnotized. The most amazing thing is the post-hypnotic suggestion effect. The hypnotized person would still execute the suggestion that she received during the hypnosis, without fail, for a period after she regained consciousness. The effect could last for several days or even up to a year.”

Professor Fang Yu spilled out a bunch of jargon that Jin Xiangdong did not understand.

“You are saying that this could happen?” JIn Xiangdong asked.

“I wouldn’t be able to draw a conclusive diagnosis as I have never seen her in person. A lot of people seem to have a misunderstanding when it comes to hypnosis. In fact, hypnosis is a very effective treatment for clinical medicine nowadays. However, it is not as omnipotent and mysterious as it sounds in legends and myths. Also, there is an eternal principle in hypnosis. If the hypnotized person ever felt the slightest distrust toward the hypnotist, the hypnosis would fail.” Professor Fang Yu answered.

“One must trust the hypnotist to get hypnotized?” Jin Xiangdong asked.

“Yes, the hypnotized person must trust the hypnotist entirely for the hypnosis to happen. If the hypnotized person does not trust the hypnotist, naturally, she would not tell the hypnotist her secret. Even if she were hypnotized, she would still be alert and keep her guard up.” Professor Fang Yu explained further.

“After the hypnotist gains their trust, he would make the hypnotized person relax her mind and concentrate through a set of pre-designed processes and then deliver his suggestions. Once the hypnotized person accepts the suggestions, emotion, cognition and behaviour of the hypnotized person would change.”

Jin Xiangdong still needed some time to understand the jargon. The only thing he wanted to know was whether Lu Jia’er was truly hypnotized.

“Professor Fang, although I am only guessing, is there any way to confirm whether my guess is true?”

“There are a few ways to determine whether a person is hypnotized—to check whether the person has lost her subconscious, she could not resist the hypnotist’s suggestions or she does something she never did previously,” said Professor Fang Yu.

“If a person were truly hypnotized, how would you get rid of it?” Jin Xiangdong had learned a few things about hypnosis after consulting with Professor Fang, but it had not solved the doubts in his heart.

“It would be to either get the hypnotist to stop the effect or the hypnotized person realises that she has been hypnotized. If you suspect that a person is hypnotized, talk to her and wake her subconscious up, make her realise that she has been hypnotized,” Professor Fang responded.

“Alright, thank you Professor Fang. Sorry for disturbing you at this hour,” said Jin Xiangdong.

“You’re welcome,” Professor Fang answered.

“Well, I hang up now. Have a good rest!” said Jin Xiangdong.

After hanging up the phone, Jin Xiangdong turned on the computer to look for some information about hypnosis.

Most people were introduced to the idea of hypnosis through films where the hypnotist would swing a pendulum or used various gestures as well as tricks to deliver their suggestions. The hypnotist induced the hypnotized person falling into different stages of trance and forced her to do all sorts of things that were against their will. It was truly incredible!

Jason leaned over and saw the line on the computer screen—light hypnosis stage was capable of controlling an individual’s muscle activity, second stage hypnosis could affect an individual’s senses and perceptions while the deep hypnosis could further control an individual’s mind and consciousness. The deeper the stage of hypnosis, the stronger the impact on an individual.

“If Professor Lu is truly being hypnotized and she could remember everyone but you, she is most probably falling into the deep hypnosis,” Jason guessed.

Jin Xiangdong disregarded Jason and continued reading.

“Look at you! You have really lost your mind over a woman!” Jason took a glance at Jin Xiangdong.

“He won’t be able to hack the company’s system,” Jin Xiangdong said.

“How do you know?” Jason stared at him.

“We could hardly locate the IP address if the hacker invades my notebook. However, he would surely leave a trace if he were invading the company’s system,” Jin Xiangdong said calmly.

“Yeah, you are right. No matter how powerful the hacker is, he could hardly break the company’s security system in just a few minutes. Unless he wants to get exposed,” hearing Jin Xiangdong, Jason had finally came to his senses.

“Go home and get some rest,” said Jin Xiangdong.

“It’s late, I am staying here tonight.” Jason disregarded all his ethics and said forthrightly.

“Did you contact Su Han this week?” Jin Xiangdong asked when Jason was about to leave the study.

“I did, but I didn’t dare to have much contact with her after this incident.” Jason paused his steps to answer.

It was natural that Jason would do that as the relationship between Jason and Su Han was not too strong.

The next day, Jin Xiangdong went directly to Lu Jia’er’a apartment after he got to know that Lu Jia’er was at home through Jason and Su Han.

Su Han went to the foyer when the doorbell sounded. Just as she wanted to press the door open b.u.t.ton, she saw Jin Xiangdong.

“Jia’er, Ace is here.” Su Han rushed to the living room.

“Don’t open the door!” knowing that Jin Xiangdong is at the door, Lu Jia’er said.

“Alright,” Su Han stared at Lu Jia’er as she answered.

Even since Lu Jia’er returned home yesterday, Su Han could tell something was wrong with Lu Jia’er. After Lu Jia’er told Su Han about the termination. Su Han gave Lu Jia’er a few words of comfort but deep in her heart, she felt that that the termination was extremely ridiculous.

The doorbell rang again. Lu Jia’er paid no mind to the doorbell, whereas Su Han was still hesitating whether to open the door. Seeing both of them having a different reaction, Amy walked back and forth resembled a pendulum.

Not long after, Lu Jia’er’s phone rang. It was a text from Jin Xiangdong—the contract has not been signed yet.

Lu Jia’er could not help but get up and open the door with a dull feeling in her heart. Jin Xiangdong had actually come personally to get her to sign off.

“Where is the contract?” seeing Jin Xiangdong who was standing at the door, Lu Jia’er stretched her hand.

Jin Xiangdong handed her the contract with a pen. He was such a meticulous person and had even brought her a pen.

Lu Jia’er took the doc.u.ment over and signed it casually. Just as Lu Jia’er closed the door, Jin Xiangdong stopped her. “Professor Lu, I am sorry for the things that happened yesterday. Can we have a talk?”

“There is no need. I have signed the termination contract. BUA has nothing to do with me,” Lu Jia’er answered coldly.

“Are you sure you have just signed a termination contract?” Jin Xiangdong asked casually.

Hearing this, Lu Jia’er stared at Jin Xiangdong. It was true that she had not read the contract carefully before signing as her emotions had overtaken her sense.

“If it is not a termination contract, what could it be?” a semblance of alertness flashed in her eyes.

“If you want to know what contract you signed, then come with me,” Jin Xiangdong said.

“Your words have no effect on me. Please don’t disturb me. Otherwise, I will call the police!” Lu Jia’er did not believe Jin Xiangdong and warned him instead.

“I am waiting for you downstairs!” However, Jin Xiangdong was very calm and turned to leave.

Watching him as he walked toward the elevator, Lu Jia’er closed the door without the slightest hesitation. Hiding to the side, Su Han and Amy, who watched the whole incident rushed toward Lu Jia’er.

Returning to the sofa, Lu Jia’er picked up her notebook, and wanted to continue working.

“What did you sign just now?” Su Han leaned over and asked.

“I am not sure!” Lu Jia’er knitted her brows together as she snarled.

“You’re not sure?” Su Han widened her eyes.

“I am not in a good mood. Don’t disturb me!” said Lu Jia’er.

At this moment, one could easily tell from her face that Lu Jia’er was truly in a rage. Su Han had rarely seen Lu Jia’er lose her temper. Hence, Amy and Su Han left the living room obediently and returned to their rooms.

Not long after, Su Han heard a sound in the living room. She stuck her head out only to see Lu Jia’er had walked out of the apartment.

When Lu Jia’er pushed opened the gla.s.s door, her eyes caught a glimpse of the familiar, tall figure with thick black hair. It was Jin Xiangdong who stood under the bright sun.

When Jin Xiangdong turned around and saw Lu Jia’er, his face was indifferent. but his heart was thrilled with joy.

“What did I just sign?” Lu Jia’er walked over, her face was icy cold.

Naturally, Jin Xiangdong was still not used to her cold demeanour. However, what was more important now was to know what had actually happened to Lu Jia’er.

“Come with me. I will tell you after this.” Jin Xiangdong stared Lu Jia’er in her eyes.

“You, as a founder of BUA Technology, had actually called me your girlfriend when we first met, kissed me in the office during the second time we met and for the third time, you got me to sign a contract that I don’t know the contents of. It seemed that I look like your girlfriend. Even though I am not sure how strong your relationship is, I am sure you do have mental problems. As a professor of psychology, I would forgo all the things that happened before and introduce you to several professional psychiatrists,” Lu Jia’er said blandly.
