The Most Majestic You

Chapter 6  Part 1

As they arrived at Xu Jimo’s base, they could hear the familiar sound of laughter through the door.

Xu Jimo stopped to give her a warning first.  “They might be very noisy.”

Qianxi nodded several times.  “A group of boys.  I understand.”

“It’s not that kind of noise.”  Xu Jimo blinked and said lightly.  “You’ll know after you go in.”

As expected, the member of KG called out as usual,  “Boss,” “Boss you finally come back”.  But, they all fell silent when they saw Qianxi.

Li Cang was usually the most crafty of the bunch and greeted Qianxi first.  “h.e.l.lo! Lady Boss.”  Cheng Yang and Cherry quickly followed suit in a stutter.  “h.e.l.lo! Lady Boss!”  Cherry spoke English with his Malaysian accent, “Welcome.”

She hadn’t formally sponsored the club yet, but it seemed the boys were already very eager to please her.  Qianxi felt somewhat flattered by it all and shook her hand with embarra.s.sment.  “....Don’t call me lady boss.  It makes me sound too old.”

Xu Jimo looked at her, lost in thought.

Li Cang sensed that there was something amiss.  Boss had instructed them to treat the financial supporter well and quickly modified her t.i.tle. “Right, right, right.  Young Lady Boss!”

The others parroted.  “h.e.l.lo, Young Lady Boss!”

Qianxi gave up the struggle and stared at Xu Jimo for help.  But he silently watched the show in amus.e.m.e.nt.  It was a headache at times to manage the awkward bunch of boys but the moment they saw a sponsor, they were lining up to kowtow to her.  Good for them.

He spoke after a long while and simply asked, “Where’s Wei Lai?”

Someone answered,  “Oh, he went to work on his homework.  His cla.s.s teacher came to get him and he won’t be back for a while.”

Xu Jimo frowned.  Most of the team members, like him, were around the age of twenty and treated esports as their profession.  Only Wei Lai was still in school because he was too young.  It was hard for him to handle training and studying simultaneously.  Playing professionally and academics were destined to be two completely different paths.  Wei Lai’s skill was at the top of KG, but there were many variables about his future.

But his focus should be on Qianxi at present.

She looked around then asked,  “Didn’t you say that you are all training here usually?  What do you use for training?”

“In the training room.”  Xu Jimo answered.  “There haven’t been many compet.i.tions lately, so the training is a little bit lighter.  They can take you to get familiar with the game if you want to play.”

Qianxi had already been briefed by Qin Xiao on the popularity level of this video game.  She asked in surprise,  “Can I?”

Li Cang answered promptly.  “Of course!  Since Wei Lai is not here, we can’t do our training.  Boss, you come with Young Lady Boss and play together~”  Cheng Yang together with Li Cang, led Qianxi into the training room.  They sat at their usual seats, while Qianxi set in Wei Lai’s position.

Li Cang enthusiastically started chatting.  “Young Lady Boss, do you play video games usually?  What game do you like to play?”

“I do.  My elder cousin has many PS4 DVDs, like and others.  I played all of them.”  She gestured an expression of “I’m very experienced.”

Li Cang opened his mouth, but then swallowed the words he was going to say.

Xu Jimo leaned forward to help Qianxi sign onto an internet account and help familiarize herself with the computer.  Finally, he casually signed into one of his alternate ids and said.  “Just use this.”

Li Cang desperately winked to him.  “Boss, are you really going to let Young Lady Boss play this?”

Xu Jimo answered him with silence, not even turning to look at him.

KG team’s WeChat group was already exploding as Xu Jimo explained the basics of the game------

Li Cang,  “d.a.m.n.  Boss’s alternate id is at least ranked in the top thirty on the national server.  He took a girl who‘s playing for the first time into such a high ranked match.  Is he joking with me?”

Cheng Yang,  “Anyway we have boss.”

Li Cang,  “It’s still a professional level game.  Calling little Wei Lai with deep love to save the earth.”

Cheng Yang,  “Don’t always rely on that baby on everything.”

Somewhere else, Wei Lai woke after having dozed off on top of his homework.  He sent a greeting.  “Cang Ge, I’m doing homework.”

“I know you are doing homework!”  Li Cang leaned on Cheng Yang’s shoulder sadly.  “What can we do.  We can not rely on that baby.”

Cheng Yang, “Treat it like weight training.  How could you be a professional player if you can’t even carry the weight of our little boss?”

Cherry, “Cheer up!  You can do it!”

Li Cang braced himself and put down his cell sadly.  He took a sneak peek at the direction of Qianxi and Xu Jimo.  Xu Jimo was calmly holding Qianxi’s mouse, acquainting her with one of the beginner heros.  The two were glued together, neither too friendly nor too distant.  He could see Lady Boss’s nervous and shy eyes from his angle.  Li Cang clucked and opened WeChat.  He secretly sent a text out, but then deleted it ten seconds later before Xu Jimo could see it.  “Boss is seriously hitting on a girl.  His voice is so sweet that I feel that I’m going to melt into a puddle.”

Cheng Yang replied in false indignation.  “Is it easy for him to sell his charms? You can do it yourself if you don’t like it.”

He giggled after he sent it, then secretly deleted it as well.

Xu Jimo took his vibrating cell out of his pocket.  His cold face glanced at the two who were giggling, desperately holding back their laughter.  Li Cang instantly stepped up to Qianxi with great vigor.  “Young Lady Boss~do you want anything to drink? I’ll get it for you!”  Cheng Yang, who played with girls often, asked considerately,  “Do you want any accessory for your heros?  I have several very lovely mounts.  Do you want one?”

“No, no.”  Qianxi had no idea what he was talking about.  She just stared at the extremely plain account name and the profile picture which was the default, a question mark.  She turned to ask Xu Jimo, “Can I change your nickname?”

It didn’t bother him much at all.  “Go ahead change it.  I’ll give this alternate id to you.”

Xu Jimo finished going through the basics and felt greatly relieved; he went to sign on to his own computer.

Qianxi clicked “Edit Nickname” and changed the simple and crude name “XJM_57” to “Night Shift Little Nurse” which she frequently used on social networking platforms.

The ident.i.ty she had built over four years of university was deeply rooted in her. Though she had changed professions, but she still recognized this as her ident.i.ty in her heart.

Ding ding ding~this is more pleasant to see it now.
