Chapter 46: Pretentious
“Will you help her in the future then?” Tan Mo asked again. “She will definitely threaten you again.”
“I will find a way out,” Li Xingyun answered.
“I can’t let my Little Uncle do everything for me. I am fortunate enough that he is willing to be my backer. I dare not ask him for anything more. Therefore, if Qin Muxiao threatens you, I can’t make him help you.”
“Of course, whether it’s you or someone else is helping Qin Muxiao pull tricks on me, I can handle it,” Tan Mo said confidently.
Li Xingyun suddenly felt that Tan Mo was not only kind, but she was also very confident and smart.
That’s why people liked her even more.
“I know.” Li Xingyun smiled and said, “In this school, everyone knows that only they can help themselves. It has been ingrained in them—in us—since childhood.”
Tan Mo thought about it for a while, then said, “But don’t worry, she probably won’t threaten you guys into doing something nasty to me again.”
“What do you mean?” Li Xingyun asked, surprised.
Would something ‘unfortunate’ happen to Qin Muxiao?
“Don’t think too much about it.” Tan Mo smiled sweetly and said, “Qin Muxiao will be fine. It has nothing to do with her.”
Li Xingyun became more confused as she heard Tan Mo’s response, but Tan Mo didn’t elaborate and left to find Qin Muye. At this moment, Qin Muye was chatting with Ming Yeqing not far away.
“Don’t ask me how I did on the exam!” Qin Muye said before Tan Mo could speak. As soon as she came over, Qin Muye hugged her.
“Don’t pull your hair, or you’ll go bald at a young age.” Tan Mo grabbed Qin Muye’s hand and stopped her from pulling her hair.
Qin Muye quickly smoothed her hair.
“How did you do on your exam?” Qin Muye inquired, though she warned Tan Mo not to ask her.
Qin Muye knew that Tan Mo’s exam was different.
“Not bad… Although time was tight, I was able to answer all the questions. I just didn’t have time to check them again. I hope I didn’t carelessly make a mistake while answering,” Tan Mo said.
“It’s okay even if you made a few mistakes. You don’t need a perfect score to pa.s.s. Moreover, you still have to take tests in other subjects. You have plenty of time to double-check your answers before submitting the exam papers.” Qin Muye didn’t say this just to comfort Tan Mo. She really did think that this would be the case.
The second exam was about to begin, so they hurried back to their respective cla.s.srooms.
When Tan Mo got to her seat, there was still some time before the second exam started.
Qin Muxiao took the initiative to approach Tan Mo and asked, “Tan Mo, how did you do on the math test?”
Qin Muxiao did not finish answering the last question.
Earlier that day, she wouldn’t let Tan Mo take the exam and was wasting other people’s time. She didn’t realize that she was actually wasting her own time as well.
She didn’t have enough time to answer the questions.
When the first exam started, Qin Muxiao couldn’t concentrate on answering the test because she was distracted. She was too angry to focus.
Then again, even in normal circ.u.mstances, she wouldn’t be able to answer the final question.
She could only answer the parts she did know. Otherwise, she left the questions blank. It was unsightly.
She didn’t do well in the exam, but Tan Mo had less time to take the exam. She was certain that Tan Mo didn’t do well on the exam either.
However, Qin Muxiao still wanted to confirm with Tan Mo.
She would not be at ease until she got a confirmation.
” I’m not confident with my answers. I didn’t have enough time.” Tan Mo refused to tell Qin Muxiao the truth. She tried to look stressed and worried.
“Have you answered all the questions?” Qin Muxiao continued to ask.
She would be pleased to learn that Tan Mo didn’t finish answering.
Qin Muxiao herself was unable to finish answering, and, compared to her, Tan Mo had less time to answer the questions. Thus, she a.s.sumed that it was impossible for her to answer everything.
Tan Mo said worriedly, “Although I finished going through everything, during the latter portion, because I was pressed for time, I just put in random answers since that would be better than leaving them blank.”
Tan Mo had a dejected expression on her face as she sighed. “No doubt I bombed the mathematics exam.”
Perhaps she wouldn’t get 100 points on the test.
“I can only work hard on the remaining subjects…” to score a hundred.
Could Qin Muxiao find out what Tan Mo’s words really meant?
She thought that when Tan Mo said she didn’t do well on the exam, she meant the same thing as her.
Qin Muxiao went back to her seat satisfied.
Tan Mo prevented Qin Muxiao from causing any trouble on the subsequent exams, so they went smoothly.
She was prepared to answer all the tests, especially the Chinese exam. She had heard her master recite cla.s.sical Chinese literature so many times that she remembered them well. She didn’t need Wei Zhiqian to teach them to her.
She might be more proficient in cla.s.sical Chinese literature than her teacher.
The only tricky subject was English.
Fortunately, although the Tan family spoiled Tan Mo, they still encouraged her to study.
Since she started schooling, she was immersed in an English-speaking environment. Thus, she had a good foundation.
She could speak English fluently.
This semester, with Wei Zhiqian, she studied English grammar and vocabulary that would appear on the written test.
However, the English curriculum at Jixia Academy was not that rigorous, and it was at the same level as most schools.
Obviously, Jixia Academy’s foreign language curriculum was standard, and the requirements weren’t particularly strict.
No matter what, the students of Jixia Academy wouldn’t lower their standards for these subjects outside of cla.s.s.
Meanwhile, Tan Mo wondered if her good memory was due to having retained some of her abilities as a little snow fairy.
What she originally told her family members was just an excuse.
But through the tutoring sessions this semester, Tan Mo found that her memory was really amazing.
As long as she read something carefully, she could remember it. There was no need for her to work hard to memorize the text, grammar, or vocabulary.
Tan Mo couldn’t help thinking, ‘Is this also an ability she carried on from her previous life?’
After all, it was good to have a good memory.
But no matter what, Tan Mo was very happy to be able to retain this ability.
Finally, she finished the last subject.
After Tan Mo handed in the paper, she breathed a sigh of relief. Then she went out to wait for Qin Muye. As she stood in front of Qin Muye’s cla.s.sroom, she ma.s.saged her nape.
Not long after, Qin Muye came out, jumping around, looking carefree as ever.
“Wait, Ming Yeqing!” Seeing Ming Yeqing pa.s.s by, Qin Muye hurriedly stopped him.
“What?” Ming Yeqing stopped and asked her curiously.
“Come, I happen to have something to discuss with you two,” Qin Muye said.
Ming Yeqing smiled and nodded. “Okay.”
The three of them walked together. There weren’t many people around. When Qin Muye was sure they were out of earshot, she whispered, “I thought about it and decided that we couldn’t let Qin Muxiao off so easily.”
“What did Qin Muxiao do?” Ming Yeqing asked, confused.
