Chapter 544: She Must Have Done It Out of Kindness
“Speaking of which, do you want to attend the banquet?” Qin Muye asked.
“Huh? I don’t belong to the Eight Great Clans. Besides, I’m only close to you and your parents. I don’t really know the rest of your family members. It’s a little inappropriate for me to be there.” Tan Mo was happy after learning that Qin Murong was about to leave.
“My grandparents are the ones who asked. You were the victim of Qin Murong’s scheme. Now that she’s receiving her punishment, you should be there to witness it. They hope there’ll be no rift between you and our family just because of Qin Murong. As a victim, you have every right to gloat over her misfortune.” Qin Muye repeated the very words of her grandmother.
Upon hearing that, Tan Mo twitched the corner of her lips. “Your grandmother is quite an interesting personality, huh!”
“I know, right?” Qin Muye asked. “So, do you want to come and gloat over her misfortune?”
“Well… This can’t be good, right?” Tan Mo was saying that, but Wei Zhiqian could clearly see her smiling face.
“Oh, c’mon! Don’t that act, will you?” Qin Muye knew Tan Mo’s personality after years of being her friend.
“My grandparents have given you the green light, so you don’t have to worry about anything,” Qin Muye said.
“Alright, then,” Tan Mo responded with a gleeful expression. “Since your grandparents were the ones who invited me over, as a junior, it’d be inappropriate for me to flake on them.”
Qin Muye snorted silently and thought…
‘Why won’t you quit pretending?’
Wei Zhiqian, who heard their entire conversation, chimed in, “I’m going too.”
Since Qin Muye already heard Wei Zhiqian’s voice, Tan Mo turned on the loudspeaker mode and said, “Uncle said he wants to go as well.”
“Yeah, sure.” Qin Muye thought, ‘What a wicked move! He knows that she likes him very much, yet he still insists on attending the banquet. Is he trying to make her lose it completely?’
“But why do you want to come?” Qin Muye questioned out of curiosity.
“I can’t feel at ease to let her go alone. What if someone were to bully her?” Wei Zhiqian noted.
The corner of Qin Muye’s lips quivered upon hearing that. Just how skeptical was he toward the Qin family?
How could anyone let Tan Mo be bullied when all the Qin family’s elders would be there?
“It’s fine if you don’t trust the others, but my brother will be there, right?” Qin Muye remarked.
“No one is as reliable as me.” Wei Zhiqian’s response indicated his distrust even toward his best friend.
The Qin family members were there at Qin Muye’s birthday, yet Tan Mo had nearly been subjected to Qin Murong’s scheme.
If it weren’t for him, Qin Murong would’ve worked an angle on Tan Mo.
“Okay,” Qin Muye agreed, although she could not think of anyone who would bully Tan Mo.
Qin Muxiao was frightened like a quail being preyed on. She didn’t dare try anything funny at all.
Qin Murong’s grandparents had ordered people to watch over her all day.
Under constant supervision, she behaved well during the span of five months. She could not do anything sneaky at all.
The Qin family would increase the security during the day of her farewell banquet. They would never allow her to play any tricks during the crucial moments.
“I’ll send you the time and location later,” Qin Muye uttered.
Around a minute after Tan Mo ended the call, she received a WeChat message from Qin Muye.
In that message, the time of the banquet and the name of the ballroom in Shengyue Hotel were clearly stated.
After reading the message, Tan Mo exclaimed, “Silly me! How could I forget about this?”
“What’s the matter?” Wei Zhiqian asked nonchalantly.
Tan Mo showed him a voice recording and answered, “This is the recording of what Wei Keli said earlier at the campus entrance. It was about Yuan Keqing being someone irrelevant or something.”
Wei Zhiqian was rendered speechless.
‘This girl is really something else. She even recorded the entire conversation. I guess she must have some ulterior motives.’
“No matter what, Yuan Keqing is still my cousin. She has been ingratiating herself with Wei Keli wholeheartedly and has been in love with him since she was young. Plus, he even saw her in her birthday suit. They seemed to understand each other well. He has been treating her well all this while, but who would’ve thought that he would denigrate her like that behind her?
“No, I must divulge the truth about him to her! After all, we’re family! I can’t let her be deceived while I do nothing!” Tan Mo declared with a n.o.ble look.
She had to hurry and tell Yuan Keqing so that the latter would get back at Wei Keli.
When Wei Keli was busy dealing with Yuan Keqing, who kept pestering him, he would not have time to bother Tan Mo anymore.
Surely, Wei Keli and Yuan Keqing would cause a scene later on.
Wei Zhiqian lamented, “Momo, you’re too kindhearted. Yuan Keqing hooked up with Wei Keli because she’s a materialistic person. Besides, she even caused a rift between you and him. She has never done a single good thing for you, yet you’re still being considerate toward her.”
Naturally, Wei Zhiqian knew what Tan Mo had in mind.
The only reason she recorded the conversation was to plot against Wei Keli.
Wei Zhiqian would never call whatever Tan Mo did a set-up.
She must have done it out of kindness so that Yuan Keqing would stay away from the sc.u.mbag.
But if Yuan Keqing was unwilling to heed the advice, there was nothing Tan Mo could do.
After acknowledging the compliment, Tan Mo hurriedly sent the recording to Yuan Keqing.
The recording was a little long. Thus, it took a while to send the file out. Finally, Yuan Keqing received it.
After some time, Tan Mo’s phone rang with the caller ID showing Yuan Keqing’s name. Tan Mo deliberately checked the time and said, “It’s right on time. Yuan Keqing called immediately after finis.h.i.+ng listening to the recording.”
Her cousin was such an impatient person.
“Hi, Keqing,” Tan Mo greeted after accepting the call.
Following that, Yuan Keqing could be heard speaking in an exasperated tone. “What’s the meaning of this? Why did you send me this recording? Are you trying to show off now? Are you trying to tell me that Wei Keli will always go back to you no matter how many women he flirts with outside?”
Tan Mo felt like throwing up immediately after hearing that. “Hey, please let me make myself clear. You’re the one who treats Wei Keli like your precious, but I didn’t. He means nothing to me. Don’t ever forget that.”
Yuan Keqing’s blood boiled right after hearing Tan Mo’s remark.
Tan Mo’s words meant that Yuan Keqing had been wracking her brain to s.n.a.t.c.h a guy that the former never wanted.
Tan Mo had considered Wei Keli rubbish from day one.
It went without saying that Yuan Keqing wouldn’t buy that.
She believed that Tan Mo said that just to get under her skin.
“Just admit it, I know that you’re only saying this to stroke your ego and save your face. You’ve always been driven up the wall by the fact that I s.n.a.t.c.hed him from you,” Yuan Keqing bellowed with her teeth gnashed.
Tan Mo rolled her eyes to the back of her head.
With Wei Zhiqian’s acute sense of hearing, he could hear everything even if she did not turn on the loudspeaker mode.
So, she might as well have turned on the loudspeaker to let him listen to it openly.
“There’s nothing to admit. Whoever is interested in a sc.u.mbag like him should go and woo him.” Tan Mo was not afraid of Yuan Keqing recording what she said and sending it to Wei Keli.
In fact, it’d be better if Wei Keli heard that.
“You’ve been using all the tricks up your sleeves to win him over. I sent you this to show you how Wei Keli really thinks of you,” Tan Mo explained as she shrugged her shoulders..
