Xenarra: The Dragon Throne

Chapter 48

The rest of the feast went by without any more major disturbances. There were a few speeches and some toasts for various things and people. At one point I got odd stares from quite a few people. Though some of them were more of curiosity than anything else. Once the feast ended, I was a first year student given a map. Taking a quick look at it I realised it was blank. After putting a bit of my blood on it which apparently binded it to me. It showed all of the places I had been so far.

After looking at that for a few minutes, I headed back to the house I was staying in. As I arrived inside the house, I noticed that there were a few people standing outside of it. Five people to be exact. All of them had golden eyes like me and seemed close b but yet there was a nervous energy between all of them. Seeing me coming they all smiled slightly.

I stopped around four metres away from them, in case they tried something, so this way I would be able to react and defend myself.

The one who stood closest to me and also seemed like the oldest of the five stepped forward.

"We all represent the great clans, all five of them. All we would like to know is which of the clans are you from and why we were not told about you coming and why are you here? Not with the rest of us from the clans." He said it like it was a matter of fact and that he was right.

"So these are the great clans huh. This lot just seems like stuck up p.r.i.c.ks."

"Could you all please, leave me alone. I am not one of you a lot. I am just someone whose family was forgotten. Now leave me alone." As I said this, I strood past them and opened then slammed my door in their faces.

I could hear them outside talking to each other, I couldn"t make out everything that they said but what I could hear was, "How could he be one of the forgotten, his potential is higher than anyone from the clans, except for the main branches, but then not even some of them…..his sword as…...we need to find out more."

After talking for a few minutes they all left. After making sure that they had all gone, I got unchanged and jumped into bed, looking forward to what the sunrise would bring.

The next morning I got up early and headed to where the food hall was meant to be. The map took some getting used to though. I took the wrong path a couple of times. After I arrived it turned out that I was one of the only people there. Shrugging my shoulders and

thinking nothing of it, I joined the small que and quickly got some food to eat.

Sitting down in a corner, where I wouldn"t be easily noticed.. I ate my food and watched as more and more people slowly turned up, the last few were running though. The one in the front yelled as soon as he got into the hall, "They are coming, everyone scatters, get out of here."

At his words every single person except me, jumped up and removed their plates, before scattering down the various hallways that lead out of the room. Not even a minute later five big groups walked in, all out of different hallways. Seeing each other, they sat down but each group watched the other. Though every single one of them had golden eyes. Thinking of the people from last night, I guess this is the clan people that are here.

Even though I was hidden in a corner, it didn"t take long for someone to notice me. I got a few looks, before someone stood up and walked over to me. Standing in front of me, he blocked off most of the light. I looked up to him slowly, after finishing the last of my food. As he was about to say something, he saw my eyes, then looked a bit confused.

As he was deliberating what to do, I stood up and moved around him. Then as I was watched by everyone in the hall, I left though as I was about to leave I thought of something. I turned around apparently and looked at each of the people who came to my place last night. I ended on the one who was speaking. "I don"t mind you coming to my house but when you carry out your investigations on who I am. Don"t go near my family."

Then I left heading off to the hall of elements as my master should be there by now, waiting for me. It did not take me long at all to arrive at the hall, but this time as I entered I did not go into an illusion but instead entered a wide hall, with hundreds of smaller doorways and decorations. I went down the hall, past rooms with a mult.i.tude of colours and designs. Near the very end of the hall, I noticed what I was looking for. The design on the door itself was simple. It just showed a mage walking in the dark, though I was a.s.suming it was the dark as the door was black.

I slowly pushed the door open, inside I found that it was just me and that my master was not here yet. Sitting down, at a desk right in front of where I a.s.sumed that my master would be teaching from, I began to patiently wait for her.

I wasn"t for long at all. When she came in, she was wearing a tight fitting black dress. Although it only went down to her knees. Seeing me sitting there. Her face lit up into a smile.

"I"m so glad that you are here." Hehehe. "This will be so fun!"

She then walked forwards, getting closer and closer to me. Then when she was nearly right in front of me, she bent over showing me her cleavage. Although I didn"t want to, I could feel my blood racing and my body heating up.

Seeing how I was reacting she smiled, showing me all of her teeth. "That will be some your test later, if you do well."

I got what she meant instantly. I then focused on her on what she said next.

"Mana, is what we call the energy we use for magic. It comes in various ways and so can be used in lots of different ways. To use it we have to sense it. Mages are categorised in a few ways, the main way for adepts and disciples like you is how much mana you can sense. As well as how far away, this will determine when in combat where you are able to cast your spells. So in short, the further you can sense mana, the more powerful the spell as you have more s.p.a.ce to vast the spell."

What she just said, although it was basic and about mana in general, greatly widened what I knew about mana. Then she went into far more depth.
