Princess Lyn: Fleeting Dreams

Chapter 262

"No, your right, I do regret it." He glanced over to see such a sad expression on her face, " It isn"t unusual since fighting includes physically harming another person. It may even lead to causing them trauma. That is something we must keep in mind whenever we fight, that there will always be a risk on both sides. Whether or not it"s traumatic experiences or feelings of guilt. We still have to keep moving forward, otherwise, by now I"d probably have crumbled," Lyn laughed lightly.

Lyn crumble? It"s difficult to imagine; after all, she is unbeatable. Giving her G.o.d-like powers... fate appears to want to make this person stronger. Why is that? No matter how many times Rhys asked himself that question, he could not come up with an answer.

"When I was younger, I found myself pondering on so many matters and yet no matter how many questions I thought off. I realized I"d never been able to reach a conclusion. That changed when I became aware of my position, slowly along the way; I just didn"t think about it anymore. Though I still had some doubts at the beginning, I realized that there wasn"t any need for it anymore."

His eyes widened. "This must be the first time she is consulting him like this."

"I don"t have a reason to fight anymore. And I may not be like Kazuya. But I do know that I want to stay with everyone."

This girls an idiot. A reason to fight? She has one. Everybody in this Empire has a reason to fight, but that doesn"t mean their reasons are valid. There are those people who say they are fighting for a just cause, but then it turns out they were the source of evil all along.

No, she"s really sly and cunning. Whichever it is, she really is quite something special.

"Rhys?"

Rhys bends over and murmurs against her neck, "Then, I"ve heard your feelings loud and clear."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

"H--hold on a minute. I didn"t mean you!!!"

She"s someone else"s.

Even now, he can see the marks that Kazuya left her; he didn"t comment on it, knowing that it would make the atmosphere tense. There"s clear proof she"s someone else"s. But as expected, he doesn"t want to give up.

He won"t hand her to anyone.

.....

When Rhys hears the knock on the window, he isn"t surprised. He moved Lyn"s hands away from him and got up. "Your late, I attacked her already."

Kazuya smiled, "If you did something, you wouldn"t be able to face me, calmly."

d.a.m.n...

"Well, she"s over there."

Kazuya nodded and walked over to the bed. Almost instinctively, Lyn woke up and wrapped her arms around Kazuya"s neck. "Hey sleepyhead, you snuck off and worried me."

"Kazuya too, where did you go?"

"Mmm, I went to get you a present."

"Present?"

"I"ll give it to you tonight. Can you move around?"

Lyn groggily got up and rubbed her sleepy eyes. "I can."

Kazuya grinned, "Great, then take a bath, and then you can eat."

"Okay," Lyn mumbled. She turned to the bathroom but glanced back at him. "Rhys, thank you for helping me."

"She"s suddenly acting all docile and meek." But then again, isn"t this normal? Whenever she is with Kazuya, she acts like a sixteen-year-old girl. Rhys didn"t say anything but nodded in response and watched as she left for the bathroom. He turned to Kazuya, "So, did King Daichi tell you yet?"

"Mmm," Kazuya said and tapped his fingers against the oak table. "He told me to be prepared for an attack anytime. f.u.kami is still on Kojisaka island. Initially, he didn"t want to stay there long. But, then he found something strange, so he wants to investigate for a bit longer."

For f.u.kami to do that, it"s probably serious. Everybody knows how f.u.kami silently sticks to Kazuya. It"s f.u.kami"s job to keep Kazuya safe - in a sense; he was Kazuya"s personal and only Knight. "That bad?"

Kazuya sighed and rubbed the back of his neck with his hands. "It shouldn"t come as a surprise. While the first few months were peaceful, the elders did send us over for a reason. There"s trouble brewing in the Mist Kingdom. Trouble that could potentially affect the entire Empire."

"And the route of all of this is Queen Orthez."

"The oracle in the Sound Kingdom predicted that Queen Orthez fate as the phoenix would not be a happy one. From the moment of her birth, it was known to others that she would live a life of blood and war. However, when people heard this fate - they did not think of it as a curse. They saw it as a good thing. More wars, the more the country could prosper."

Rhys clicked his tongue in annoyance, "Are people here that stupid? Her fate as a warrior may look nice, but she"s the Queen. She has to protect her people."

"Yeah, but n.o.body has realized. Some people are starting to notice now, but it"s too late. Because of Queen Orthez, the Empire could fall into ruins. She really is a good leader; she"s the best one amongst the current Kingdom heads. n.o.body but her is suited to be Empress. If she survives all this, then she could run for it. But, at what cost? Even if she stops the fight - even if she wins, it would be no good. Far too many people would be dead."

Rhys sensed the change in atmosphere then and stood up. He walked over to Kazuya and slapped his back. "Don"t worry about it, why do you think we are here? We can put a stop to all of this."

"Yeah, but," Kazuya glanced over at the bathroom door. "What about Lyn?"

"The elders must have told you that too. But the fate of the ones dubbed as the Phoenix differs per person. In a long lost country mythology, the Phoenix is a bird that goes through the rebirth process. It"s a.s.sociated with the sun. A phoenix can go through rebirth, by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. According to some sources, the phoenix dies in a pit of flames. Other sources claim that the legendary bird dies and decomposes before being born again."

"Which one do you think it is?"

"The first one," Rhys nodded. "I think the same thing with Lyn and Queen Orthez. Lyn may be a phoenix too - but it won"t take effect until her predecessor is gone." He doesn"t wish anything bad to happen to Queen Orthez. While their purpose is to remove her from the throne, they don"t want to kill her; there would be no need for that. The Queen isn"t a bad person; she"s done a lot for her people. Her only mistake was trusting her first husband.

Why does a good woman have to die just because of the mistakes committed by her male partner? They aren"t that ruthless.

"Did you tell this to Lyn?"

"Yeah, I have. I haven"t received a response on this yet though," Kazuya trailed off and sighed. "Maybe I shouldn"t have said anything. It seemed like she was a bit overwhelmed with the whole Phoenix thing."
